Occurred on February 14, 2022 / Bunya, Queensland, Australia
I live on acreage and have many native birds on my property. We have just been inundated by floods and the birds have been needing extra care during this time. I’m also studying to be a licensed wildlife caregiver. “Baby” or “Waddles” is the first juvenile to be born to the kookaburras on my property. Kookaburras are monogamous and the whole family will pitch in to feed the young ones. They are an amazing Australian bird. Not only do they have their signature “laugh” but they chortle amongst each other as well. They have the ability to recognize human faces.

  • I have never in my life even considered that Kookaburras ever had baby stages, yet I have positively _GRACED_ by the presence of this fluffy ball today. For the love of god, I know that birds don’t just hatch out of the egg fully grown. It just never _actively crossed my mind,_ like “…oh wait there are kookaburra chicks out there”. I just never thought about it.
