I've been bending for a week and this tutorial helps me a lot esp with the offset and measurements
Awesome I am glad that this helps you. I will be doing more videos in the upcoming months.
Very easy explanation, I’m going back to running conduit after 2 years and watching these videos is refreshing! Thank you!!
Awesome good luck and I appreciate you watching and commenting ☺
I’m a apprentice. I’ve been in the field for 6 months. I appreciated ur story’s n teachings brother. Keepin coming‼️
Definitely will I have alot in the works thanks for watching and commenting ☺
I work in property management and have an opportunity to run conduit for our parking deck. I am using your videos to learn! It’s going well so far loving the instructional videos.
That's awesome I'll be coming out with a few more soon keep an eye out for them
So glad I found your channel. Im learning more than when I was in class. You make things so simple.
That is great to hear and I appreciate you watching and commenting ☺.
I like your energy and philosophy of teaching. Keep it simple stupid, don’t give me your big words. I’ve always felt that people who can’t say something in simple terms either doesn’t know it or doesn’t want you to know it. Great tips. I’ll be practicing this week in my garage with scraps or maybe I’ll go buy some sticks.
Awesome keep practicing its the only way to get good.
Your bending are very useful and helpful to me. I am an hvac installer here in Southern California. I install my own electrical circuits and sometimes I have to use conduit and make bends with a bender and I'm not the best at it for sure. This will help me improve. Thanks. Chuck
That's awesome and I appreciate your comment and watching ☺
Conduit bending is like an art. Glad you teaching it.
Well I appreciate it alot thanks for the comment and watching ☺
Awesome! I love hearing about those tricks/tips...using your finger, etc. Good stuff Mike!
Thanks Ron...now when I have a side job I expecting you to help me run some conduit.
@@MountaineerOutdoors Ha! Just have some extra conduit.
I’m an LEA and have never really had to bend pipe too often. Now it sounds like I’m going to need to learn so I appreciate your videos for they’re super easy to follow. I’m going to study the Cosan chart.
Awesome... I have been making alot of electrical videos lately... One question what is a lea?
@@MountaineerOutdoors it’s a Limited energy “A” license. Also there’s LEB which the B license isn’t allowed to install pipe or work with Fire Alarm systems or Nurse Call systems. It’s all low voltage. Data, security, fire, nurse call, cameras etc.
Gotcha not sure where your from but in Virginia you don't need that kinda license.. That's why I asked you what it meant. I hold a journey man card and where I work that's all they require along with 4 year apprentice program.
@@MountaineerOutdoors right on. Oregon requires you to at least hold an LEB to pull cat cable. But yea a Journeyman electrician can do it all! I did 6000 hours and 3 years of school to get my LEA. LEB only takes 2 years.
Fingertip measurement for offsets is awesome where has that been all my life , that’s $1 million tip 🙏 thanks!!!!!
My pleasure thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Wow this is amazing. Thank you so much. I got me a first job to do next week and I can't wait, but it already involves conduit bending, because it is a failed inspection job, and I got to redo the wiring in conduit. 😃
Good luck 🤞
How was it?
Just starting to learn to bend , I like the fact that you teach it in a way that anyone with a different skill level can understand. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man I appreciate you watching and commenting. I should have some more Up real soon
Yes. Completely agree!!!
Thanks for the well explained lesson.
My pleasure thanks for watching ☺
I’m about to bend conduit in my shop, and really appreciate your videos. Cheers from Canada.
Awesome, hope it turned out awesome. so how did it go????
@@MountaineerOutdoors thanks to your videos and the Sparky Channel things turned out very well. I really enjoyed using my Klein bender and happy to report my shop has several new outlets, an electric heater. Next, I will add a security camera and light to the outside of the shop. Thanks again for sharing your experience. God Bless. Gerry
That's awesome I appreciate it when I hear that my videos have helped. Thank you so much for watching and commenting ☺
Thank you for making it so easy to understand!!
My pleasure thanks for watching and commenting ☺
The sine of the angle gives you the vertical offset for each inch (or any unit) of length of the hypotenuse. In this case, sin(10 degrees) is roughly 1/6; so you just multiply your offset by 6 and make 2 marks that far apart. Electricians use 30 degrees a lot because sin(30 degrees) = 0.5 so you can just use a multiplier of 2.
New bender, in a diy shed wiring project here. Thank you! I don’t need to become a pro but this will help me be instantly competent, without a tape measure, sharpie and trigonometry.😇
Awesome glad to hear that this helped you out. Good luck with your project. Thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Thanks. Great advice.
Thanks for the videos straight to the point and very helpful 1 month apprentice.
Awesome, good luck and your Def in a great trade
I’m just learning to bend conduit on roofs for solar, if you could post a video of an Offset(LB) to a 90 to another offset (Junction box) that would be very helpful! Videos are very helpful by the way. Thank you for posting them!
Good idea and I thank you for watching and commenting ☺
New to your channel 🙋🏻♂️ excuse my writing I’ll don’t do this kind of job. but is good to know a little bit of everything for my humble opinion is very interesting the way you explain and you deserve a hundreds of views God bless you 😎👍👍
Aww thank you I appreciate it alot. And welcome to the channel
Thank you for the great content man!

Thank you so much mike gonna start grabbing bunch of scrap pipe and doing some homework
Excellent practice makes perfect
Awsome I’m learning pipe bending at my uncles low voltage company . This helped alot

Love this guy just like me. no need for million dollar words.
Yep definitely agreed
Hi, you made it look effortless and simple ty, experience is the best teacher and you have the experience ty, Bob,
I appreciate that comment. Have a great day ☺
Great video, this explained it well
Thank you ☺
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge.
Always my pleasure ☺
Thank you very much! I’m starting out doing this stuff and was a very helpful video
Awesome glad to hear that this helped you ☺
I've been doing electrical work for 7 years, it's not the most common but I have had to bend emt in more than a few homes
Nice video man! I will definitely want to try that finger method. I seem to have not as much trouble trying to other bends like 90’s and some offsets, but box offsets kill me. I think it’s me not leaving enough space between the hump I made in the first bend. Anyhow, I’ll give your finger trick a shot! Thanks so much! I subbed!
I appreciate it.. Let me know how it works out for you. And welcome to the mountaineer outdoors family ☺
@@MountaineerOutdoors finger trick works! And, the 3 inch starting measurement is a great place to start the offset! Thanks again! I’m looking forward to more of your videos!
That's awesome so glad to hear that this helped you. Starting in January there will be electrical videos every week for a few months. Looking forward to seeing you there. Have a happy Thanksgiving and happy holidays
THANKS FOR THE TIP I WILL BE USING IT FOR SURE ON BOX OFFSET BE SAFE
You as well thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Thanks for the video,I would appreciate it if you could show a clear close up of the bottom of the pipe and how it must line up with the angle line on the Bender
I will definitely keep that in mind when doing newer videos. Thanks for the comment and watching ☺
Thank you, Happy New year 2021
You as well
I use the finger technique all the time. I teach it too my apprentice's as well
its the perfect gauge thanks for watching and commenting
Lotta help. Thank you for yur videos

Very interesting presentation. It looks kind of fun...
It's fun if you love what you are doing
Liked it a lot , thank you for being so relaxed about it. You are so right Journeymen can sometimes be real as------s. So thanks again. E
Yep just remember that when you are a journeyman try to teach and not be too hard on your apprentice. He's there to learn. Thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Great stuff 👍🏾
I appreciate it man ☺
nice one sir i learned a lot thank you so much

This video was supper helpful, and can you please make a video on the chart on how to do all bends with the multiplier chart.
Yes I will I really need to
Yes , please do a video showing how to use the formulas
In the works
@@MountaineerOutdoors thank u very much
Thanks bro. First day bending pipe today as a level 3. Lol

Beau ti ful ! Thanks ! Woouu this is Amazing .
I appreciate it thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Such a great video
Thanks I appreciate it ☺
For math nerds, those multipliers are found under the "cosecant" table. Find your bend angle on the chart, then look under the cosecant tab.
Do a video on the chart man! Ur helping me a shit ton
I will be working on it very soon. Glad to hear that I'm helping you.
Mountaineer Outdoors I’m an apprentice in the making myself keep up the good videos !!!
Very good Video. Inspiring
Thanks I appreciate it ☺
Can you do a video on 3-point Saddles with a push through method. When the conduit is too close to the box to bend a 3-point the regular way
I'm not sure exactly sure what you mean. If you can make me understand it I definitely will
Very helpful
Glad to hear that have a great day
Hi , I like your video. Thanks
Thanks
thank you!
My pleasure thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Waiting on your chart....well maybe not the chart but the video on how to use it. I'm going across corrugated steel and need to get to about 1 3/8" then... you vids are great MAGA
Here is the video I did on it kzhead.info/sun/rN5xYb2ZcJ2OmKM/bejne.html
@@MountaineerOutdoors Thanks...looks like I missed when you posted it
Np hope that helps if not let me know and I will try to help you
@@MountaineerOutdoors Yes, I appreciate the offer.... The offset I want it 1.125 (1 1/8") Do I still use the 10 degree? Would the mark be at 6.75 (plus the 3" from the end) making it 9.75 form the very end?
What size pipe?
What size emt does the finger trick work for also thank for putting this information out there
I use it for all size up to one once. Gotta adjust it since the 1 inch is a bit bigger. But 1/2 & 3/4 no problem. Thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Rolling offset art ,
Thank you
My pleasure thanks for watching and commenting ☺
Thank You Sir that was well delivered and I learned how to do it.
Awesome glad to hear that this helped you. Thanks for watching and commenting ☺
How can I secure metallic conduit to a floor to put an outlet box on to it. So its loose 12/2 BX cable pulled through floor into metal conduit and through a connected metal 1 gang electrical box for an outlet . Also what size metal conduit for 12/2 BX cable? will 1/2 inch conduit be ok?
Yes and secure it with anchors or tap cons
Very well
At 4:02, "$1000 words" are what English linguists like to call "sesquipedalian" -- from the Latin (sesqui -- 1-1/2 + ped -- foot) meaning "foot-and-a-half long words." Any word which is a foot-and-a-half is pretty long in anybody's book. Use "sesquipedalian" to impress and amaze your friends and neighbors next time someone uses unnecessarily big words to convey a simple thought when a little word would do. Say "ses+qui pe+DAY+lee+an" 3 times and the word is yours forever.
That word though. I don't think I have ever heard of it until now.
Can you do how to do 2 offsets on opposite sides on a same emt
Excellent idea... I will Definitely work on it. Thanks for the video tip and watching.
When doing a box offset and making another bend say a 90° with it, how do you figure out how to bend it..and for it to come out the right direction that you want it to go.
I use a piece of scrap wire. I may have to do a video on it..
Question: What is the "shrink" for the 10 degree bend?
Honestly it's not that much. I am working on shrinkage video hopefully by the end of the summer. Stay tuned
@@MountaineerOutdoors I found a video that shows it to be 1/16"/inch. Indeed, that is not much when bending box offsets. Your video helped me show how to do the box offset to students that have access to a "Little Kicker" bender one of those companies makes. So naturally they take the easy way, thinking every employer will spring for those at around $350 apiece I assume. Thanks again!
Is that 3/8” to the centre of the hole?
Good video
I appreciate it ☺
I don't like big words either. New subscriber here.
Welcome to the mountaineer outdoors family.. Thanks for your subscription and watching ☺
How do you make measurements based off of the ceiling. I work on a project at a university and never know how to measure things in respective of the junction box so my conduit runs straight in.
I am assuming you mean from ceiling to wall? Same exact way as from the floor. Or are you meaning running the conduit straight line?
Please do a video of 2x box offsets (Height 3/8 or .375") with a "back to back" ( 2x 90*) at a distance of 72", and a height of 12". Thank you in advance.
Noted
I needed that last part with the finger. I don't wanna do math for 5 min. I dont wanna mark the pipe. Just wanna know how much to bend it. That last finger-method could be a 30second standalone video. Thank you
Definitely I agree the finger method works every time
Need a four point saddle video thnx
Ask and you shall receive kzhead.info/sun/iLhmY6h6m4hobIk/bejne.html
i am rewiring the warehouse aqnd i;ve bought the junction boxes , and when they came, i;ve found the ko's are staggered. i have to maqke the offsetsto keep the main emt length horizontal. p amsure there's a lifehhack for this situation. would you care to talk abot that? thanks.
What do you mean staggered?
C ould you just use some acetone to clean sharpie marks off of the conduit?
Yes you could alot of the times we just remark it and wipe it off.
Hey do the detailed video on all bends plz
Working on them ☺
Could you do parallel offsets and 90
Great ideas
Any chance you could do a box offset with rigid steel? I guess it’s the same idea?
It's definitely the exact same measurements However, I'm working on getting s Chicago bender so watch for it.
Is it possible for you to demonstrate a compound 90 degree bend.
Yes that's a great idea. I'll be starting back up the electrical videos very soon
what is the minimim distance between bends that will fit in a 1/2 in and 3/4 bender without messing up the first bend while bending the second bend?
Honestly not sure each bender is different so you would have to play around with it to see how close you can get. Use the finger method and you can't go wrong
Do you use the arrow for 90’s and offsets?
For the most part yes. I have a video telling you about the star on the bender and when to use it as well
When should you do a 45 bend just asking
Only when you are in a tight space. They are hard to pull through especially when your conduits are packed full.
I would like to know like your do it I’m going to work on your way you show until get it
Practice practice practice. Good luck 🤞
Yes explain multipliers
Coming very soon, very soon... Keep an eye out... And thanks for watching and commenting
Can you do one on back to back 90s
Definitely will do it great idea
👍💯
Can you do a video on 90's with a kick?
Great idea for sure I will
Video on preventing dog legged bends please
Working on it next week
Do those same measure ments work. On 3/4
I'm gonna answer your questions honestly... I don't know however I think it should. I've been Bending so long without putting the marks that I'm not totally sure. That's something I will have to try myself. Now you have me thinking 🤫
are all offsets bent in the air
Most are yes but here is a video showing on the ground kzhead.info/sun/gZltndalsH9oZa8/bejne.html
I prefer thousand dollar words lol I’m just kidding you’re a great instructor
😂 😂 😂 I appreciate your kind words. Thanks for the comment and watching ☺
I always went 2" from the end of my pipe put my 1st mark then go 2 7/8 for second mark
Why does this work?
The math
yes please do the sin, cosin video
👊🏁
Nice work, but I thought the multipler for 1/2 emt was 2?
Do you mean on a 30 degree bend? Yes it is
@@MountaineerOutdoors Sorry-yes 30 degrees. He is using 6 in the video. Why? Thank you !
So yes I do use the 30 degree in my bending when doing an offset. However this is a box offset so I used a 10 degree offset and for that the multiplier is 6. Does that make sense?
@@MountaineerOutdoors sure does. Thank you sir. God bless.
Same to you.
is there an easy way to replicate conduit bends? I'm trying to replicate a bed bow for a tent trailer,
Unfortunately not just take your time
How would you do it on 3/4 pipe? Ive tried it with 10 degree and the math puts the 2 marks to close and it doesn't really work out.
So honestly I have not marked a piece of pipe for a box offset in years. For the 3/4 I use my finger technique so I can always have a reference. It doesn't take much for a box offset. Just make sure you keep your bends in check and roll they pipe 180° I know that isn't the answer you are looking for but I will try to work on it to get the math right.
@@MountaineerOutdoors thank you.
My pleasure..
