    • Apparently visibility was never a big concern for all cage fighting leagues. Unless I'm super close, I'd rather watch the fights at home. It would be incredible if the UFC adopted a design like this while keeping the design as close as possible to the octagon. Perhaps some structure could be incorporated to keep the cage dynamic. A short cage maybe?

      @WantOxide@WantOxide Жыл бұрын
    • @@johncena12366 Karate is not a complete art. In self defence and combat sports practitioners try new things to improve on its effectiveness. The only reason we don't do it in traditional martial arts is because people are afraid we'll lose what makes the martial art unique. But they forget that karate was made to defend oneself. In this day and age we could get in fights with people who have combat sports experience and we'll need to at least be able to feel what it's like being hit hard so we're not taken by surprise. To stubbornly stay in the past is to be trampled on. This is a great new step for karate. It teaches karateka what it's like to be in a full contact striking match. It can only benefit the karateka. Whether the style starts to look different over time doesn't matter. It is what the old masters were seeking when they started to develop karate, not aesthetics but effectiveness and preparedness of the practitioner.

    • @@keeran9306 This ruleset teaches karateka how to fight in full contact, ONLY if they sign a contract and get the money. Almost no karateka is willing to compete full contact for free lol. Somebody should pay for the medical bills and missed work days due to injuries. For me nothing worths taking hits to the head by a trained martial artist. My chances of getting into a street fight is very low so I will stick into semi-contact, better than nothing and not as destructive.

      @johncena12366@johncena12366 Жыл бұрын
    • @@johncena12366 In combat sports like kickboxing it's very seldom that they go 100% in training. They usually lightly tap the head and hit the body harder for conditioning to limit injuries. Another thing just because they get paid to fight pro in karate combat doesn't mean karateka can't train like that in a dojo. But like I said in combat sports they don't go as hard as you think in training. Me personally I would never fight pro but I would do training like this in addition to regular karate training for that edge I might need in a self defense situation but each to his own. Point is it has its usefulness.

    • @@nikestrike8213 I come from a boxing background so my viewpoint on karate is a bit different but I don't necessarily mean have highguard up all the time, resting your elbows on your torso helps with the fatigue but also keeps your arms and hands in a position to have quick reactions in either direction. My original comment was by no means talking badly about karate, what I was saying was more of a compliment to the sport itself being more entertaining in a way. I spent many years believing boxing was the most enjoyable till my brother opened my eyes to mma and how much more unpredictable each fight can be because of all the ways to get a victory. I very much respect karate, no disrespect here.

If someone dies in there, it's a giant perception stain on the sport that's hard to wash off. My suggestion is for success and longevity sake as a combat sport fan.
