Today we're teaching three friends on their first day of snowboarding! We're taking them through all the beginner snowboarding steps from learning how to skate to linking turns on the bunny hill. Before starting we did a quick snowboard gear check. It's important that your snowboard boots are tightened properly when learning to snowboard and that your snowboard is set up properly. Next we found out which one was the girls front foot by running and sliding in the snow. Your dominant foot need to be in front when learning beginner snowboard turns. Once we got our front foot we practiced skating and snowboarding down with one foot strapped in. This is good practice for getting off the chairlift. Next we headed to the beginner snowboarding area to practice our heel and toe sliding with both feet strapped into our snowboard. By practicing sliding you learn to stop and change the direction of your snowboard. Finally we practice doing beginner snowboard turns. It took a few attempts with some help, then a few small crashes, but all three girls linked a few turns together! For more beginner snowboarding tips check out the beginner snowboarding playlist! If you have any questions about your first day of snowboarding you can leave them in the comments! Thanks for watching!

You are so good at explaining things so they actually make sense and breaking down how snowboarding works so you know what you should and shouldn't be doing, when I was learning so often I would catch an edge or lose balance and have no clue what I was doing wrong because it was never explained to me. • A warning to all beginner snowboarders. I slide withe my right foot as the front and when someone pushes me i stop with my right foot, but i snowboard with my left foot as my front foot. You DON'T know what your front foot is until you actually start turning. I made a mistake thinking that my right foot was the front and struggled with turning for days. One day i tried turning with my left foot as the front foot and not only was it easier for me but i learnt turning in a couple of hours. Don't make the same mistake as i did give both feet a chance and you'll see for yourself 😊

  • I tried snowboarding for the first time last week. My instructor spent no more than 10 minutes teaching me how to skate and turn and then took me up a blue run, where I quickly learned how to link my turns. The next morning, I was feeling really confident to go alone but it turned out to be a lot more difficult without someone to encourage me, comment on my posture, and point out my mistakes, so I ended up crashing and tumbling down slopes for 6 hours. Anyway, I got pretty smooth by the end of my third day, so big thanks to the instructor who saved me lots of time and frustration and made my first day really fun! My arms are really sore from repeatedly pushing myself up after crashing though xD. Awesome content on this channel, by the way, I'm very inspired to keep practicing and become decent at snowboarding! Great full-body workout and super fun! I'm never going back to skiing.

  • If you are trying to determine your stance on your first day I recommend trying both ways. Start by skating regular for 2 minutes. Then try skating goofy for 2 minutes. Usually the student can figure out their strong side within this time. When you have both feet strapped in you are free to ride goofy or regular, whatever you prefer. This freedom is why I like the sport so much. For those beginners make sure you take a lesson from a certified instructor. They will tell you about the 4 board performances. These are the ways you can move your board to get the board to do your wishes. They are Tilt, Twist, Pivot, and Pressure. I saw no mention of torsional twisting of the snowboard here. Maybe I missed it.

    • Daymon Gray in the video he said that her board was set to goofy even though she was regular and that it was messing up with her turns. How would I be able to switch it from goofy to regular? Sorry if that’s a really stupid question.

  • man, it s nice to see how the people have different style of reception, as you saw the purple pants girl, after she saw an visual example of you making the turns she completely understood.

  • This was great. Tried skiing last year. Terrifying as I struggled to stop. I like look up you stop. And that someone can hang onto you while learning. Takes the fear out of out of control runaway.

  • Wish I had you as my instructor! I learned at Gala Yuzawa, Japan. I had a Brit instructor who was mildly bored and a beginner one. She forgot to teach us how to strap the board and didn't notice I was a goofy and kept teaching with the standard. She was basically saying, "Sorry, my bad didn't teach that" half of the time. Also there was a blizzard. Would love to try it again though!
