This scene is so badass because it's implied that Tanaka's lineage is respected and that someone trying to ride on that surname won't be tolerated. Forcing Frank to demonstrate a technique that Tanaka certainly would have passed on, is awesome.
@interestedparty7523 what I dont understand, how did Frank get an,invitation, without them knowing his background? Especially his teacher
Could have been Tanaka lineage is always welcome to send a pupil, and what Tanaka didn't expand on is "I'm sending a white guy who might as well be my son." @@paulsmith9192
@@paulsmith9192because Frank Dux's fake story says so.
My theory is that Tanaka won the kumite once maybe twice using this technique.... karma came back and he lost his sons ... Dux could have used this death touch thing at the end but .... that's why he screamed and got frustrated .... the only time it was "acceptable" to use it from a karma standpoint was when he used it on the sumo wrestler dude.... then again I'm watching Home Improvement right with Tim Allen rn
@@davidvilla2157 Interesting theory.
Growing up in the 80s were the best time of my life ...
😂 I was 90s but I love van damme because he is lookalike my father. My father also a okinawa master 2nd class ❤
really? worldwide famine, disease, substandard medicine etc. I grew up in the 80's too but technology advancements mean that we all live longer
@glowimagery634 Who cares about that I had great toys and movies. I don’t care about flies crawling on some Africans eyes. Still don’t. Just gave a homeless bum 5 bucks to eat some small fishing hooks

I still love that line "What's the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his Shidoshi?" Makes me laugh every time. :)
So nuva b itch. Vince was hilarious. They love us Asians cuz we good lookin’. 😂🤣
df5826, just change the his in your quote to an a--the line is, "What's the difference if Bruce Springsteen is a Shidoshi?!?!"
@@you5711 Just rewatched the scene and I can see where you might think he's saying "A" rather than "his" but I think with his accent, he's just not saying "his" as clearly as he could be. :)
@@df5826 You're right--Vic said his. I listened to it a few more times with the headphones on, and now I can hear the his after he says is. He isn't putting a break between the is and the his, which is giving it an uhh sound. At 1:12, you can hear the kumite official clearly enunciate the is and the his with a definite break between them. You were right--my bad, err, I mean matté. ;D
Well... sorry for my ignorance. I know that Bruce Springsteen is the guy who sings dancing in the dark and born in the USA. But I don't get the joke.. can you explain it to me ? I am from Argentina and I would like to get it. I love this movie
I met Jean Claude. He was super respectful and super nice to me. I told him I loved Blood Sport, probably like a thousand other people before me. He said thanks very modestly. Was probably a 60 second interaction, but it made my day, and like I said, he was nice to me
“ NO, bottom one!” Pulls the bottom one out Jenga style, puts on top and breaks it.
Lol
My favorite action star. Also Bolo was sooo freakin intimidating. I miss these movies
@garym51124 ever seen, shootfighter? I never understand why did they send frank an,invitation, without knowing his background?
@paulsmith9192 long time ago..think it was Bolo and that dude from karate kidm
I don't care how fake Frank Dux ended up being, this is still one of the best of this era in Martial Arts movies and still a classic.
Fake 🤔 he’s a real guy wym go look him up!
@@GregoryTaylor32No he's definitely a real guy, but his feats in the Kumite were debunked
@@mikeycomicguy8670 More than that, his whole life story was almost completely debunked.
it is absolutely 100% a classic. It's got a bit of magic to it
Any era. This is one of the all time great movies.
"Boards dont hit back" from Enter the dragon. Bolo was in that too, nicely paid homage
Bolo Yeung always made the best villain. He just looks evil.
He's the Abobo from Double Dragon 2! 😂
You're wrong he also fit perfect for positive roles, only not many people know or remember them (like Shingo in Shootfighter: Fight to the Death, 1993) ;)
All due respect but this is one of THE coolest scenes ever. Still gets me fired up!
I will fight you
Can damme really did this under the tutelage of Randy tutelage. Who learned under hanshi Dux. Would be an honor crippling.
Tanaka was his shidosi 😂😂
I agree 👍
Bolo delivered a callback line to "Enter the Dragon".
Bolo...he was kinda Yeung there. 😂
Yes, only with Bruce it was boards, not bricks. But the same vibe was intended.
Enter the dragon and Bloodsport, the parents of all martial arts movies🥰🥰
I guess that makes this a Bolo tie-in then, eh?
CHONG LI: Very good but brick not hit back
Chong identified Frank as his biggest threat from the beginning, he toyed with every opponent he faced but you could tell he respected Frank as a fighter. By the final fight he knew he was outmatched and knew he needed to cheat to even the field.
Bloodsport and BestoftheBest were pillars of my childhood
Mick Foley was awesome in this movie 😂😂
he is man kind's brother men kind 😂😂
😂🤣🤣
NNNNEEERRRRDDDSSS!!!

2:53 Interesting that Chong li was the only one who congratulated Dux, but as expected, he said his villain line in the end... 😎
"berry good, bup brick not hit back"😅
@@ProfessorKenneth like Bruce Lee...
01:52 "BOTTOM ONE" is one of my fav movie lines of ALL TIME
i ve seen this movie like 500 times when i was a kid in the 90s, i rented it several times, week after week, for years
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we all did bro
That's why I couldn't watch the movie, cuz u rented it all the time 🤬🤬🤣🤣
😅
I rented it so much when our home town movie store took it off the shelf they gave it to me
2:33 I always loved the little nod the referee does to the other one saying, yeah he's the real deal...
I love that film not because it great but because the new generation will never know honor
Brick 🧱 no hit back honoring the legacy of Bruce Lee love it
Still amazing every time I see it! The music sync is GOAT!
I like how the entire background of them sparring and training just has them stop to observe his technique. Also a brick does hit back that is if you don’t apply enough force to break it that force gets sent back to you and hurts you instead of what you were intending to hit
when he says "brick don't hit back" he is implying that hitting a brick is not impressive because anyone can hit a brick, defeating a skilled opponent is more impressive
@@iwaswrongabouteveryhthing I know but not only that but it’s also a reference to Way of the Dragon, where Bruce Lee says the same thing to his opponent when he breaks a board in front of him
They know he was telling the truth when he broke the brick
We know @@iwaswrongabouteveryhthing
I still watch this movie, mainly just to play in the background during those dead mid afternoons.
Same here, but with ShawShamk Redemption lol.
Lol Same here, but with FRIENDS
I remember this being on almost every Saturday afternoon on channel 5 when I was a kid
I swear bolo Yeung is one of my favorite all time villains in a Martial Arts Movie. I love the homage to Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon. Boards Don’t Hit Back! 15 Years later Brick No Hit Back!
"BOTTOM ONE!"😆😆😆
@@stuartryan9035 Then you don't know the death touch!!! Just kidding. It's obviously just a movie, not to be taken seriously.
@@stuartryan9035 You doubt the Death Touch? 😧
I love the guy's voice when he goes 'DEATH TOUCH!..'
Classic Scene 💪😎👍😍
Amazing! 🤩👏🏼👍🏼✌🏼Even in 2023 still being one of the best martial arts movies!
Boards don’t hit back 😮
The music captured this scene also.
The background music is what makes the scene so memorable too. Love it.
I want a Hoodie that reads Bruce Springsteen is my SHIDOSHI!
I learned the Dim Mak from Count Dante back in 77. Very handy for when I locked myself out of my car
Dim Mak was also known as the distant second cousin to Dim Sum which can be found at popular restaurants today.
Dim Mak is a distant cousin of both Dim Sum and Big Mac@@johnnychang5988
2:34 this line the way he says it just kills me! 😆
lol, yep, but my favorite is at 2:41 ;)
😂😂😂😂
"What's the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his Shidoshi?" If Bruce Springsteen is his Shidoshi then shows us the Dim Mak in the dark.
Now I'm gonna have that tune stuck in my head all day, I hope you're happy!!
Don’t look like Tanaka…..Don’t look like Tanaka not at all…..If he’s your shidoshi…..Then you show us the Dim Mak in the dark…..
such an underrated comment 🤣
Back when times were simple ahh :)
A Dim Mak is a Tripple Big Mac in Jackson's mind.. :P
You break my record, now I break you, like I break your friend
Awesome Movie I Very Love JCVD
The background music before something awesome happens I was actually throwing kicks while watching this movie as a kid
It's a really important scene. Everyone, including Bolo was intimidated by Dux. He basically showed them a mythical technique, right before they may have to fight him no holds barred. The 'brick not hit back line' is a complete bluff.
"very good but brick don't hit back" 😂
If you weren't born in the 80s and you are wondering why we love vandame it's this movie and this seen .😊
2:20 anyone notice how Lin is not moving, looks like a still image.
I still love this scene!!
1:52 u can feel the energy when the soundtrack kicks in at BOTTOM ONE...
you are not alone man! I still tend to watch the best scenes
This scene remains me Burt Simpson when he tried to do the same thing against his sister jjjj

The movie that pretty much made Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter 2 upwards
Bolo was like 55 years old here lol
Bolo was 41 there. It was filmed in 1987 and came out the year after. Bolo is now 77.

Be funny if he broke his hand with him screaming in pain “It is not the brick that breaks, it is the hand of the stupidity”
the big mac , i mean dimac ha ha
"You...don't look like Tanaka!"
Epic
SUNNA DA BENCH!!!!
they dont make movies like this anymore and they wont because its rlly hard to create sth like this and i would say now impossible. back then not many ppl knew sth about martial arts so even tho u know some scenes are ridiculous it was special ancient mood in this movies i would say. it wasnt all about body but also about spirit and that was giving this special vibes. nowadays the do movies like about mma and for me personally some are good but it will never be special like this old movies.
Alot of people say "DEATH TOUCH", when it is ACTUALLY called the DEFT TOUCH, the ability to explode one item in a pile instead of the WHOLE pile.
Well if you follow the story ( made up as it is ) by the real Frank Dux then it actually “Death Touch”.
Its def touch lol
TEST YOUR MIGHT!!
Well it's true that bricks can't hit back but that brick was destroyed. So it can't hit back 😅
the editing team did a great job with visual and audio and storyboard
Bolo was angry that frank broke his record
Bloodsport is CANNON 📽️ ,not MGM! MGM (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) is just the distributor..
Who cares, at least they have the rights to upload it.
