It's strange how naturally aesthetically pleasing his videos are 😂
Ireland is a naturally aesthetically pleasing place
@@TomesTheAmazingIreland is definitely on my "to visit" list
I was thinking that too. I saw one short and subscribed. I am a carpenter so that helps
It's the hat, I swear it's got magical properties. I tried one on and I looked completely harmless.
he's actually very talented at faming shots and telling stories through his videos as well as talented at woodworking. definition of an all rounder handyman
You know it's a good place to have a workshop when your landlord gets the gates restored instead of replaced.
Your an inspiration! I grew up in an abusive home and always felt useless and like id fail at everything so i never learned skills like the ones you do. Now after getting mental help im learning from your videos and am researching plus starting my woodwork tool collection. Got my third axe and getting some wood next week to start small projects. Im excited and pray your work continues helping other people.
Have you heard about the 'maker movement' or even the 'right to repair' lot and the gatherings they have. I love learning stuff too and it's groups like I mentioned who can help you out. You might be able to try out a few directions with some workshops or get access to machinery and helpful training that can mean you have more of an idea how much an area inspires you before having to buy into it fully so to speak. Maybe those axes will be useful helping a community bit of woodland you might learn to properly coppice the wood, or train a little in a dying art like 'bodging' or perhaps it'll reveal an interest in land management or rewilding projects... when you find out what options there are out there you won't know what to learn first. Wishing you the best on your journey buddy
The healing starts with your self
get at it lad
Excellent! Take a look at Anna Runkel's work - It's incredibly helpful!
I hope you’re still doing well and making progress mate. Taking up a hobby is probably the best thing I’ve done for my own mental health.
It's the time of year people start missing their Vitamin D. Keep you chins up, everyone.
We got a big "sunlight" light for this winter. We'll see if it helps
It gets tiring
Get vitamin D vitamins it definitely helps
The change is seasons isn’t talked about enough
Remind me again on how the frick did you know I have multiple chins
Eoin - first of all, as a citizen of the USA, I'm glad to finally have learned how to properly pronounce your name. But to add to that, I want to join the chorus of viewers who deeply appreciate your style and content. You remind me of Destin Sandlin of Smarter Every Day, or Jimmy Diresta, because all of you bring an enthusiasm and respect to the process of creation. The internet can be a dark place, with lots of unfortunate content that does little to improve our lives - there's an infinite amount of opportunity for wasted time. Programs like yours help to create a global community, based on sharing knowledge and motivated by benevolence. To me, that is the foundation of mental health, and I think we can all use a dose of it every day, to counter the onslaught of misfortune that pervades the news cycle. Thank you for sharing your world with us.
Really well said!
Perfectly summed it up, I wish content like Eoin’s was pushed and promoted more. There’s far too much negative content out there that does nothing but creates fear and division between people. Sometimes I’ll just watch Eoin’s videos and read the comments like yours to remind myself that decent and empathetic people are still out there.
I usually don't leave comments but your channel is the only thing getting me through exams period at the moment, I adore your videos
Thank you so much!!
Every once and a while I come across something i have absolutely 0 clue about, and 0 interest in doing myself, yet I sit there and binge videos. I love the community feel between you all.
No matter how experienced you know someone is, always gives me shivers to see a sleeve hanging down near a jointer blade like that!
The sense of community in all of Eoin's videos are the best part. Eoin is a truly wonderful man but the time he takes to put someone else into the limelight on his channel is the real charm. The lads making that wall deserve all the attaboys, it was a very aesthetic looking wall.
It’s incredible how polite and friendly people are, I moved to Toronto and I really miss that the most. People would think I’m crazy if I greeted people on the street the way people do back home.
This is my first time seeing a blacksmith work, I didn't realize the anvil's shape helps them shape the metal! 😮 Thank you for the awesome video! Love that you also showcase and promote the work of your fellow craftsmen as well!
you should check out alec steele - blacksmith from england but has also worked in montana. he's currently making "the worlds largest" articulated lamp which doesn't have a lot of forging in it but his previous sword making projects (some over 15 videos long) have plenty!
@@MaxRide1I guess being a blacksmith was his destiny
@@mikeoxsmal69 probably runs in the family! that's where most surnames come from like "smith" :)
@@ayyorta my mates last name is cox, what that mean?
@@mikeoxsmal69 according to google it means his ancestors had red hair or maybe a rooster... or maybe he just likes cox
I just ordered myself a flat cap to wear at the Christmas event at the historical park I work at in downtown Dallas, Texas. Because my great grandmother was from Ireland, I decided to dress as an 1800's Irish immigrant, instead of the standard Texas farmer like the other employees.
From the title I was expecting some big talk about something super serious but this is honestly way better because of how unexpected it was. In a way you're saying that all you need is to just enjoy the little things in life. Like lady. Give her a treat next vid, I would love that
What a busy and fulfilling day! It's just so good to see skilled people working. That horseshoe heart was so impressive.
I'm a ball of mental health issues with legs but you bring out this inner peace that I can't find anywhere else. Thank you so much.
"Fairly tasty" is absolutely lovely.
I love how "old ways" meet "new ways". Traditionally used tools and skills, meets social media.
The originality and just pure wholesome goodness and gold heartedness is beyond my understanding. Mind blowing. If the content creators took notes from you going forward the internet would be a far better place for mental health. I’m struggling to describe how good this is but it’s just you Eoin, there’s no words can be put to how you’ve shifted the agenda and just made it good old normal down to earth content. Absolutely glad I’m here to see it!
It’s a lovely change, Eoin is brilliant at what he does but has no big ego about it. He just seems so happy to share his passion with others.
Your videos inspired me to get into some finer woodworking. Big love from Canada🇨🇦
Really appreciate your vod and shorts, Im not a dedicated viewer but I really respect what you do. It's also really nice that you have that bright attitude, really help when a little more down then usual. Keep up the good work.
Eoin: "Hi I'm Owen" Thanks for the clarity on pronunciation
I have become addicted to your woodworking shorts as they have been very helpful in learning this craft myself. I also get allot out of your presentation and personality! Thank you
Brilliant eoin . Loving the stonework mickey and scott are doing.
8:39 lady is such an adorable dog
It’s almost 4am in Texas . I clicked on this video just so I can fall asleep because your voice is so soothing. However I’m interested in wood working videos so I’m awake. I have never built anything from scratch lol
I’m so thankful we’re alive at the same time. Words can’t explain how much I love your videos- from longer KZhead videos to your TikTok’s. I’ve recently gotten back into woodworking, carving, and restoring old tools. Your videos are encouraging, informational, and entertaining! Thanks for all you do 🫶🏻
U remind me of that one guy every small town has that everyone likes. That one person that gets along with everyone.
The sound of that thicknesser took me straight back to being a child, helping my Dad to pass a bit of timber through. Or ripping a bit of timber on the saw bench, and him constantly telling me to keep it straight. My Dad's old now, and he lives with me and we share such a special bond. Thanks for your videos, I'm slowly working my way through them all.
It's really remarkable as a one man crew doing all these different shots and angles as he transitions through the video. Truly takes a bit of extra work but that's what makes ALL your content shine my man. Cheers!
I LOVE your workshop!! Absolutely Beautifully made!! Also, never noticed your pierced ear until now😊
Truly a slice of life I never would experience but none the less completely enjoy!
Thanks Mate. Its therapy to see these old skills, still being done so well.
Breathtaking stone walls! Hats off to the masons.
I found you on KZhead shorts by just randomly looking what pops up, and I found you, and I have watched your KZhead shorts for a long time now, and you always leave me fascinated in your enthusiasm for working with your hands, and traditional ways in your pieces you create . Its a passion you have, its creating beauty through your work, I once had that when I used to fix and restore machinery its a love something you hold dear to you a tale of musical symphony when do something you truly love ... the point I am getting to is , you remind me of me when I was younger and it brings me a smile seeing someone who has a passion for what they do. Some would say " I would hate to do that all day" and " How can you stand or bare doing that with your hands" and the answer is simple , if you find a love, passion of work like this then its not really work, its creating something beautiful that represents the best of you.. Keep up the good work Eoin, never let the music or passion die, because you will find yourself die along with it ..
You are an inspiration my friend! Going through some shit and trying to find some real meaning in life. I am fortunate to have a place in life with authentic, 100+ year history and you make me want to extend that history another 100. This stuff is truly what life is about
Lady's an absolute sweetheart, and that wall is a thing of beauty!
Love that you have such a community that are friendly & support each other! You are Truly Blessed🇮🇪🙏🏽
I am from South Africa and a woman very far rom Ireland and yet I love watching your videos. I love seeing people work with there hands creating something beautiful or usefull and love just hearing you talk. That accent😍
I agree with all comments - and great tips for my woodworking ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
'There was a frost on the carrot this morning for the first time this year ...' sounds prophetic af. I'm gunna start using that.
Your day out reminds me how much I miss Ireland. Thank you for this video. It is such a pleasure to see the countryside and that beautiful stone wall, not to mention James' excellent work at the forge. And as for that sinkhole... Has anyone been round to assess what the divil you have going on there? That young wan who crept up on it made me think of the Cliffs of Moher. I stayed well away from that edge, I'll tell you!
That was one of the most fun, informative and entertaining videos I have seen in a long time. Thank you Eoin.
It’s great to see such authenticity and beauty in your work. What you capture of Ireland is incredible. I have enjoyed viewing your country through your videos so much that I want to come and explore Ireland more than ever! Any suggestions on where to go first? (Love the Tau Crucifix hanging in your car!) - an Australian Catholic
1st of the full length videos I've watched & I absolutely love the 4:3 frame, had to put the quality into 360p for the full effect. Such a laid back and homely vibe. Diolch for sharing both interesting bits about carpentry and sharing these old school vlogs.
these videos both make me want to visit ireland even more and continue trying to do hand woodworking with what little resources I have! I can't do much but whittling right now but I'd love to do some of the stuff you do at some point! love from Texas
My father is from Kerry. I love his accent. We have been living stateside since 94. His accent has never changed. I have become an interpreter for Americans when we go out.
I absolutely loved this vlog. Just seeing you interact with everyone in town was so heartwarming :) and it wasnt scripted, all natural!! Seeing all the craftspeople was epic too
Is this like a lost village in time? Old school workings? old school work shops in 2023, Unbelievable. I hope these skills never get lost. Watching this is like stepping back 500 years. A pleasure to watch. Thank you lads.
very very common here in rural Ireland actually
Mental Health? Yeah, I need that rn. Thanks for the vids and it's good to see there are more young people in the crafts over there!
Just found the channel, really enjoyed running errands and seeing some behind the scenes footage with the blacksmith!
Never have I been interested in woodworking. Neither I plan to getting into it. But somehow watching your videos are both very interesting and relaxing. It's like a pure inspiration from seeing someone actually passionate about his work that made me instantly attracted to your videos. I wish you the best and cheers from Ukraine!
The genuine smile is refreshing when so much in content is faked or forced. Give Lady a nice scratch behind the ear please.
Great Video! Seemed like a very busy but productive day. 😊
Eoin is a naturally aesthetically pleasing lad 😀
First, I need to tell you that I came across your channel through YT Shorts that I have no idea why YT recommended to me. But I'm ever so glad they did those weeks ago. 👍 Second, I want you to know how much your videos make me smile. I think we all need that, and it feels like an ever-increasing requirement in life, and so I appreciate you providing that. I might not be able to watch every video you upload, and my online time doesn't coincide with your livestreams more often than not. But I very much enjoy watching your videos (which is why you are very much restricted from my driving playlist) so please keep sharing the things that interest you. 🧰 Lastly, I feel I must apologize - I'd never heard your name pronounced and so I've been saying it wrong in trying to direct people to watch your channel IRL. I've been spelling it for them, so if they've checked you out, they've been going to the right place at least. 😉
I love watching things made with hand tools. I am very impressed. Is it cold in your new workshop? It looks like it is. Maybe its because of all the stone? The wall is absolutely stunning! Glad I found your page.
Goodman yourself eoin , I'm living in Canada and haven't been home in years, watching this made me feel like I was back at home again !
Your content just showed up in my recommended and I’ve been eating it up. Honestly, it’s a good addition to the usual content I watch
Hey Eoin hope your weeks going well and thanks for making my 44 minute mornings
My grandfather was a blacksmith, it's good to watch a bit of metal working.
I love this…my friend and I have had some pretty crap few weeks and these videos have helped us just break the mindset so thank you it’s been tough but we’ll be fine 🙂
Hey Eoin, thanks for sharing a day in your life. Always enjoy watching your content!
Absolutely love the jolly ole heartwarming spirit you have in you man. As I get older I have really appreciated woodworking and I really appreciate you keeping the Old ways alive. Thanks for the endless entertainment again. And also I've taken the time to report the false accounts for taking your hard earned cash brother!! They will get what's coming to them!!
That sink hole give of some good Lovecraft-ish horror vibes.
You know the coolest people. Nice video well done. I love the fact your encouraging hands on skills. Strength to your hands my friend. Cheers J
Love seeing your face. I enjoy your videos alot. You've inspired me to try and make my own replacement handles for my picks, axes, hammers and gardeners hoe. My father was a carpenter by trade and raised his girls to be handy when the boys weren't around to help. Thanks for bringing me back to that.
Brilliant video Eoin, had to laugh about how you weren't going to surprise the present for your sister
Hopefully nobody she knows watched my videos either
Keep up the good work Lad! Cheers from 🇨🇦
Eoin, I love your content, thank you again for an excellent, absorbing, and feel good video. Why can't our national broadcastor have content like this (Nationwide is the only thing that comes close). Loved seeing your pal the blacksmith at work, so interesting. God bless you both
Love this man
All your content is class. Keep it up.
Always love seeing this handsome wood man ❤
Eoin I hope you hit a mil very soon, you deserve it man! Thanks for sharing your life
One of my favorite irish lads, hope you’re taking care of yourself 💙
Your videos always put a smile on my face. I'm not very handy myself, but I love watching experts at work. All the other lads watching: talk to someone about your mental health - could literally save your life. Go well.
Yaknow up here in Wisconsin we have some very nice types of wood you probably don't get much of out there. I know you like your ash wood. Wish I could send ya a container of it. My grandpa made a violin out of some fiddleback , The grain and bending in that wood is beautiful. Have a wonderful weekend brother
Hey man just wanted to say congratulations on your success. Your shorts started to pop up in my feed probably a year ago and I always enjoy them. You’re a great guy and I respect your appreciation for traditional craftsmanship. My grandpa taught me how to do many things with building and fixing stuff and seeing your videos remind me of him and his techniques and attention to detail. Big respects from Canada bud you’re a real standup guy 🫡
You’re awesome, and that guys hammer control is wiiiillld
You've inspired me to take metal and wood working shops In school, thank you and if ya need then take a break. We all need one sometimes
Ah a sweetheart blacksmith
I have never had any desire to move countries until seeing these videos. Now I'm ready to move if for nothing more than hearing this accent every day.
Loved this. Thank you for taking us around!
I enjoy watching woodworking a bit but am here more for you than for the joining and sanding 👍 All the best
What great video each video you craft your skills befor long you will be like Roy underhill of the "woodwright's shop"
A humble man. You inspired me to pick up woodworking thank you
The Stanley #80 scraper is great, but it’ll not take off much material. You can still use the #5 and avoid tear out by moving across the grain while holding the plane skewed at 45 degrees - sort of skidding sideways. It’s eliminate most or all of the tear out if you’re still sharp and slightly cambered.
awwww omg that was tbe cutest thank your mr blacksmith
Brilliantly natural! 👏 i
Another fantastic video. Thank you Eoin!
Watching your shorts helps me cause I see your persona so calm and charismatic and just restoring tools and making new things from ash oak and different material
This year is slowly coming to an end, i havent done that much, ive had to give up work due to my health but the best thing ive done this year is that i subscribed to this channel , im tool mad like eoin and i love what hes doin, hope he continues for many years to come and his channel deserves more accolade than what its getting . Keep it up mate.
I never realized how genius and useful the actual shape of the anvil is
Absolutely loving your videos.
This was absolutely amazing!
Lmfao when he’s explaining the plainer and he holds it the wrong way, idk why but that gave me a chuckle.
I see why you drink so much tea, everyday is a busy day. I'm a coffee fiend me-self. Thanks for the fantastic content and spreading them good vibes!
It’s crazy that this whole video shows what my dream in life is since I was a boy I’ve wanted to do wood work and like the guy near the end black smithing and I’m actively trying to pursue it and you have been a big reason why so thank you
I love this guy, keep at it brother!
Love these longer format videos too.
My goodness I love your workshop and all of the various craftsman and craftsmanship surrounding it! It makes me feel like we've gone back in time and I love it! Can't wait to see your sister's box when it's completed. Take care and be well!
Such a cool demonstration, thanks for sharing!
