  • I'm plus size and i took Leo's argument as why are you so focused on getting the mean girls to like you when there are people who'll love you for you 💚

    • That’s exactly how I took it too!

    • Exactly! Leo did explain himself, but to me, he was really just saying go to brands that genuinely care about you! These brands know that there’s many people of different sizes and colors. I get that it’s a struggle, but I think he’s saying to find satisfaction in places where you’ll truly get it.

    • Basically thats what he said. But people seemed to have completely overlooked the message and focused solely on the tone he used to deliver it. And from that people were inferring a bunch of things he did not say, simply bc they felt triggered. Which is understandable, but also, your triggers are no one else’s responsibility to avoid. Period.

  • I disagree with the statement of don't waste your energy, because without someone "wasting their energy" there will never be change. It's exactly yhe same thing as a few years back with foundation shade range. Brands getting called out lead to change, no one can argue with that. I feel the same way about fashion brands, they'll never be inclusive if people don't demand change

    @frida3578@frida3578Ай бұрын
    • Someone’s skin color cannot be changed but being overweight/obese can, there’s a huge difference. People are not born into being obese/fat and even if they are, it can be changed. Those who say otherwise are just making excuses. As a plus size woman, I don’t support stores that don’t support me. Instead I focus my time on money on the stores that do. That’s all Leo was saying. But with all that said, I do agree that if people wanna waste their energy fighting for what they truly believe in that is their right and their business!

    • I hate to break it to you, but companies dont simply change bc they are called out and suddenly they feel morally obligated to. They expanded the shade range after seeing they could make more money from it. Period. There is primarily the financial aspect, the social aspect comes second (if it comes in consideration at all) but they will market it as if it’s their primary motivation for change. Same thing with retail. If it was undeniably more profitable for companies to make the changes in their plus size clothing, trust me, they would have already done it. But if its not in their interest, there is no amount of activism or calling out that will convince them to change and loose money in the process. Its as simple as that. So if people who are complaining about it want to actually make this change happen, they should start by looking into making their demands look financially appealing for companies. And I mean really looking into the whole production chain and knowing all the costs that go into making these clothes and how that will reflect in prices and demand. Not just going on tiktok and sayingn “ if they made plus size clothes, we would buy it!!”. Be thorough about it

      @lalailm@lalailm29 күн бұрын
    • This is what’s funny. People can’t change their god given production of melanin. You CAN choose to not be so large that you can’t find clothes to fit in. Large people are a burden on society anyway. Just overgrown toddlers demanding people make tent sized clothes because they can’t control the space between their hand and their mouth. Absolutely embarrassing.

  • Him saying that the clothes arent whats not flattering, its the body thats not flattering, seems a bit like a lazy argument on behalf of the clothing brands. They can make clothes that flatter a large body (and im talking about the plus sized clothing lines that are supposed to but dont). They should be better about that and they shouldnt be making money when so much of it is thoughtless lazy design.

  • I love you and Leo. Been watching you for like 8 years lol and I feel like I see parts of myself in you. I think there’s nothing wrong with being blatant but I think with such a sensitive issue it’s hard to not say something offense. I think Leo’s intent was good and I agree with him however I am no longer plus size (I’m now medium lol) so I don’t want to speak for anybody else

  • I agree 100% with what he was saying and the reason is I went from 119 pounds. I was a size 0 0 now that was many many years ago and then I got pregnant. I shot up to 365 pounds have my baby lost it same thing happen next time lost it all but then my mom and my grandma died and I gained it all back. I went from 120 pounds to 385 pounds within 3 to 6 months because I was sitting in my big butt on the couch, eating chips and cookies and I was so depressed. Yeah I had a really hard time finding clothes, but I made myself that way most of my family and my mother side is very obese sung by some because of health reasons. And if we are going to shoes to put cakes and cookies and I’m saying that’s only to the ones who are shooting to live in overweight lifestyle, not medical issue reasons then you can’t have the world revolve around you. Nobody is going to make full figure hallways and bigger beds and bigger anything because you wanna gain weight and stay big and unhealthy. No, not everybody who is overweight is unhealthy. That is why I said this is just reflecting the ones who choose that lifestyle, I can barely breathe. I could barely walk. I had to hold my stomach when I walk because I’m only 5 foot of mine and I lost all the weight took me four years to take off work put in six months if you want to choose to be overweight and you can’t find the right size clothing you better become a seamstress and stop thinking that the world should revolve around you!!

    @BabyGirlRaven@BabyGirlRavenАй бұрын
    • Then why does the world revolve around skinny people who decided who it revolve around and which is more to be catered to??? America is a majority of plus size men and women so why should the world around them not reflect choices for them as well

  • I agree with what I assume is the intention behind Leo's messaging. Support and put your money where it's welcome. However, I slightly disagree with the notion of advocacy, which I don't think he was referring to. The fashion and beauty industries have long struggled with inclusivity issues. Advocating for better industry standards is important, but this responsibility doesn't solely fall on specific brands. I strongly support body neutrality. And we can influence the market by encouraging the creation of products for larger bodies, disabled bodies, various skin tones, and more, through our purchasing choices.

  • The point is, the public’s IQ is room temperature and majority of people online cannot comprehend basic facts and points. The public is far too sensitive and it’s wildly concerning.

  • It really was the wording (also came off as kind of being apologist to brands that refuse to make plus size). I honestly get what he saying though, don't let the brands that never make your size get to you, there are others that will and may even look better on you.

    @axolotlskeletons15@axolotlskeletons1525 күн бұрын
    • With that said, phrasing is very important cause he sounded again apologist to the brands and the beginning was harsh kind of coming off like our bodies are the things that aren't flattering.

  • Leo's argument is very tone deaf. It sounds like the people who don't understand why people call makeup brands out for their awful shade range. Yes, we can support the brands that support us but we can also call brands out along the way.

  • I think the lack of comprehension skills and the fact that people cherry pick what they want that ends up skewing the entire message and then spreading what is essentially misinfo because of that, is concerning. Tess Holliday obviously didn't listen to the entire video and spreading that to millions is scary. Especially because he does follow it up without being as hateful as everybody is assuming he is. That being said, I also can't expect brands to be able to predict how everybody's body will look when larger- proportions vary greatly at a certain point, and weight is carried differently, body composition is different for everybody. They should try to accommodate but they can only do so much. idk
