It has become an established pattern that the Republican Party in the House is so dysfunctional that it is unable to use its majority get anything done. Instead it has been Democratic support helping Speaker Mike Johnson from going down in flames. Rep. Jim Himes joins to discuss the awkward politics for everyone involved.

    • @@user-vt4eh1os3m Part of the issue is that Republicans have responded to every election for decades in one of two ways: When they win, it's because the american people like their policies and it's clearly a mandate to continue to pull the Overton window further to the right and campaign on more extreme measures then before because that's clearly what the people want while purging/marginalizing members of the party who don't want to support this. When they lose, Clearly they weren't extreme enough; they need to push harder to get those hearts and minds and thus win the next election. This is how you're country wound up with Trump and MAGA; you have a bunch of people who have been pushing more and more extreme ideologies for the better part of 16 years and the ultimate result was a man who couldn't pass a middle school exam on civics being given the most powerful office on earth and utter lunatics who would rather burn the country down then engage in the time honored tradition of horse trading.
