Watermelon Rind Preserves
Make you some. I can’t wait to make some buttermilk biscuits, split them open, and add a pat of butter and a spoon of these preserves.
Remember you can make preserves out of all kinds of fruit. All you need is the fruit and the sugar.
My first time eating them was with my George at a log cabin restaurant. They served them with steak and biscuits. What a treat. What a night!
I miss our sweet times together. Hold that husband's hand, tell him you love him, and may the sheets feel good to your toes tonight.
Have a great 4th tomorrow. God Bless America.

.
At its most basic, cooking means applying heat to food. Whether the food is baked, fried, sautéed, boiled, or grilled, it's all cooking.
People still cook some foods over an open flame, in addition to using tools like microwaves toasters, and stovetops.

  • I'm from Sacramento and my parents from Nebraska/South Dakota. My mom canned and made watermelon rind pickle, dill pickles, bread and butter, and mustard pickles. Canned peaches ,pears and cherries ,homemade jam . Back in the day there were orchards and farms all over Sacramento. She saved baby food jars and we would slice up peaches and put sugar on them ,then put in baby food jar and freeze ,then had them for our lunch box . Kept lunch cool and a nice treat

My grandmother did all that back in the day. I'm 73 years old and I LOVE CANNING. ❤️ YOU are such a precious person God knew exactly what he was doing. YA KNOW GOD DON'T MAKE MISTAKES. Love your channel ❤️ 💕 stay safe and continue to be blessed.

  • I made watermelon rind preserves right after we got married. It was so good but never made it again. I did make watermelon jelly a couple of years ago but the rind preserves were so much better . Also made cantaloupe jelly and it was good on toast.

Momma had all of Maw Maws recipes, but when she died they mysteriously went missing. Anyway, this is just so simple to do & worth trying because it's soooo good. 👍🙋‍♀️🤗

  • We used to can everything out of the garden, when a crop was ripe we canned it, summer into fall. We made watermelon pickles and preserves. I still make both. I use a peeler, it takes off just the green and leaves as much rind as possible. I like a little star anise in mine..I change up the spices.

  • My mother used to make watermelon rind preserves, but she never wrote anything down. She also would use the meat of the watermelon and make preserves out of that but she didn’t write that down either and now it’s all lost and I don’t have the recipes to either one. It would be really nice if you would write down how much of each ingredient you put in there and how long you cooked the preserves. The recipes I find on the Internet and I try them they don’t come out the same but yours looks pretty much the way I remember as a small child watching her cook.
