My son and I visit Hoover Dam and the impressive Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. Hoover Dam is one of the most amazing sites on planet earth and it should be on everyone's list of places to visit.

    • Hoover Dam was the first man-made structure to exceed the masonry mass of the Great Pyramid of Giza. The dam contains enough concrete to pave a strip 16 feet wide and 8 inches thick from San Francisco to New York City. More than 5 million barrels of Portland cement and 4.5 million cubic yards of aggregate went into the dam....Bureau of Reclamation.

Considering it was 1935, those engineers must have been quite something to have designed a dam like that for the mighty Colorado river. I have been to Colorado, as that is where my husband grew up. Anyway, you did a marvelous job of showing the awesomeness of this dam. I enjoyed every moment of the video. Thank you. (^_^) Happy New Year to you and your family. Kind regards. Liz.

    • Hello Ruben. Hoover Dam is located about 30 miles southeast of Las Vegas and at the southern end of Lake Mead. Happy New Year!

    • Heck Tom, you're not afraid of heights are you? I actually have two of those jackets. If memory serves me correctly I gave Mark Keller 20 bucks for his jacket and I gave it to my wife.

  • We could not build Hoover Dam today.

    • It's true. The high-water mark for American greatness peaked somewhere in the late 60's. The Moon landing was probably the last real achievement of lasting greatness by America.

  • Wow been a long time since i seen Hoover dam. WOW looks so lonely ~ That dam was always packed, with people walking, looking, riding there bic, cars ect ect >> Now they need a Tourist Attraction Cable Trolley rides going to and from > Like ski resorts

    @426superbee4@426superbee43 жыл бұрын
    • My son and I got to the dam early in the morning and there was hardly any foot traffic but by the time we left a few hours later there were a lot of people on the dam. A trolley ride across the river would be fantastic. Who knows....maybe someday.

  • Cool place. Did you take the tour? Those dynamos on the lower level are amazing. Seems like when I was there (long time ago) you could actually drive across the dam. Can’t remember now.

    @murphy4yt@murphy4yt3 жыл бұрын
    • I took the tour about twenty years ago and it was quite fascinating. Unfortunately they stopped doing tours due to covid but maybe someday when they resume the tours I'll take my GoPro and make another dam video :>)

    • I believe the water level is a little higher than it was several years ago but it's unbelievable how much it has dropped over the last twenty years.

  • Whoo-ee, I'll bet Dyson, Kirby, Eureka, Electrolux and all the other vacuums are insanely jealous of Hoover. PS -- Karen says you need to report that bronze guy parked on the rock slab for NOT wearing his mask. ;^)

    @noahcount7132@noahcount71323 жыл бұрын
    • You're right, that dam bronze guy wasn't wearing a dam mask. Karen would certainly have a dam fit.

  • So, can cars can drive over the dam anymore?

    @joegilbert7661@joegilbert76613 жыл бұрын
    • Yes and no. Vehicles can still cross the dam to visit the Arizona viewpoints and parking lots, but all vehicles are required to turn around and re-enter Nevada. You must use the Tillman bridge to travel into the state of Arizona.

      @mixup98@mixup983 жыл бұрын
  • Mike O'Callaghan does not deserve to have his name on the bridge. He was a popular governor, intelligence office, but doesn’t deserve the same recognition of Pat Tillman who gave up a carrier in football to serve and die for his country. At least it’s an insult that Mike O’Callaghan’s name comes first.
