  • As someone who is still fairly new, I heard the 30,60,90 day rule. The rule is as follows: 30 days for your to FEEL a change 60 days for yourself to NOTICE a change 90 days for others to NOTICE a change Never get discouraged, your getting closer everyday

  • I need some motivation. One of my least favorite exercise is pushups. I have decided that genuinely for every like I get on this comment I will do 1 pushup. I want to use this as fuel for me to keep going.

    • How about planks? You can do 30 second planks and rest 15-30 seconds in between. Do 5 and then do something else. After three other reps do them again. I hate pushups but planks build your arm muscle first.

  • If you are starting out at the gym and feeling discouraged. Just being consistent with your workouts are most important. Don’t worry about how hard you are working out. The very fact you are doing resistance training is going to make positive results. You will gain more muscle doing a consistent routine over a person who randomly does intense workouts just a few times a week. Make exercise a routine not a chore. People notice change in your physical appearance before you do. Good luck!

    • @khronosfateless Train at home, it's better anyway, less time wasted travelling and talking to people. You don't even need equipment to start. Press ups, star jumps, squats etc

  • As a fellow gym rat who lifts 6 days a week and has for years, I have nothing but respect for everyone who shows up; advanced lifters, casuals, or even beginners. It takes guts to show up in an intimidating place with people who have amazing physiques. If you're discouraged I promise you almost nobody is judging you for being out of shape or you not knowing how to use a machine/equipment correctly (we will judge if you're intentionally trying to show off, get attention, or create a disturbance to others around you) and it's likely in your own head. Most of us would even love to help if you asked (nobody likes the unsolicited advice person at the gym so we likely aren't going to say anything first) so to anyone who's new, don't be scared to ask somebody who's clearly experienced while they're resting if you're doing something correctly or not.

    • Thank you for your comment ! Gym anxiety is actually one of the biggest barriers that hinder my assiduity (along with procrastination, and wanting to have a perfect workout plan, meal plan etc.. before starting but oh well, making progress :p)

  • Started working out a little over a year ago. It takes time, but once you've been consistent for about two months it'll become a routine and honestly it's my favorite thing to do and I look forward to it every day. I feel better, happier plus the physical results are amazing.

  • After getting sober after years of drug use I started to hit the gym almost daily and I’m in the best shape in my life!!! I’m so thankful I made it out alive and have a new lease on life and my health! Working out has definitely been a part of my recovery and helps to fight off the urge to pick up again.

  • Started at 315 back in March. Started dieting, eating way better, and exercising.. best decision I’ve ever made. Going through a rough breakup with a toxic women and now I’m happier than ever. Now I’m weighing 258. (06/06/23) and Im determined to keep editing this until I reach my goal weight.. (180-185). When you feel like giving up, think of how far along you’ve come along so far and how worth it the end result is going to be. 💪🏼💪🏼 Just an update: 09/19/23 Tomorrow marks officially 6 months since I’ve began my journey. I started getting really into boxing 🥊 and started training and eating like one. I tell you, it’s super fun. No I don’t intend on trying to compete, but I do love the workouts and the dieting. I was sick for about a week but I’m getting better now. I’m officially weighing at 228. I wanted to try and lose more but at least I’m headed in the right direction. I’m so happy I can actually see my arm veins and leg veins popping out now. 😭 will update again soon. KEEP PUSHING! 01/14/24 Heyyy everybody ! I know I been slacking on the updates! Still going hard but just ran into a plateau due to me also tryna build muscle. 😮‍💨 still working out 6 days a week and eating right! I am currently weighing 214, BUT I’ve also lost more inches around my stomach! I finally fit into larges 😭 it’s been 5 years since! My veins are also popping out a lot more since I’ve been drinking nothing but water and eating right! Working out twice a day on my days off and one during work days! It’s been such a relief and exercising has changed my life drastically. 😭 I feel great, look even healthier with my glow, and now I LOVE working out and I’ve made it a lifestyle! Crazy to see where I was months ago. I had to update since I’ve forgot but I didn’t wanna leave everybody asking with no updates! I’m trying to get a solid 195-200 lbs by my one year on March 20th! Keep pushing ppl! I’m telling you now, you will not regret it. It gets so much easier!

I'm in the same situation She's f****** her manager but he is flabby and works at fast food I work UPS from 3 to 9 in the morning and then I hit the gym from 11 to 3 I do five miles of cardio and light lifting beginner level throughout the session, this guy just lifts fries and lives in a trailer either she'll be back or someone better will take her place

  • The best part to exercising is the pain for me. The feeling that your body is burning and hurt. That feeling when you know your muscles are getting bigger and stronger. Especially when training for martial arts like boxing and wrestling 💪🏽

  • I started working out last year. I started going to the gym for 30 mins in the morning and 1 year later I am there for 2 hours. I stay longer and longer now because my body wants it. I never thought I would enjoy waking up at 4am to go to the gym and start my day😭😭😭

    • Meanwhile I’m here just trying to have a will to live living a VERY sedentary lifestyle. I’m gonna do this. Just got a treadmill. I wanna do an hour every day at least. I want to get liposuction but I feel like I mostly have visceral fat which won’t be solved by Lipo. So while I’m saving up for a Lipo and BBL ill be working on my visceral fat. I know no one cares I just like to type out my goals so I can find the motivation to start lol

    • I was 260bs when I was 25yo. I was 155 in 4 months. I ate far less, and i mesn less. My biggest and sometimesonly meal of the day was one top raman noodle pack, hungry all the time, but didn't starve myself. I became more active, but didn't "work out" Just walking around alot, basketball hoop solo outside. Yard work/play.

    • Good job there! 2 yrs ago I was almost 210 pounds but I reversed it, and are now down to 160, don't want to go any lower. Now I train 5-6 times a week doing split program and I can't live without it and if I don't train for 2 days, I start to feel an effect on my mood. I've started struggeling with elbow pain though.

  • I work out about 5 years now. Trust me. It is the best decision I ever made. I reached a point where I LOOK FORWARD to my excersise every single morning. The trick is to make it part of your morning or evening routine. I wake up everyday at 6 and excersise at 8. Every single day. And I look and feel amazing. Women adore my body too. I feel very disciplined. And whatever happens in my life; whatever I may fail at... I know that, should I die today, at least I have been a big success in one thing in life: I mastered and conquered my body. It's just such a good feeling.

  • I started working out again recently and I pulled the muscles in my shoulders and elbows all because I benched wrong once. Remember to also make sure you are paying attention to your safety while you work out so you don’t hurt yourself :)

    • Bench is a great for looking strong but overall it’s not that good as exercise. Use it as a way to check how much stronger you’ve become

    • @@calm2844 this comment is contradictory to itself. Benching is a great exercise, and there are variants for different focuses/needs. Your shoulders are in a more safe position when you don't bench with as wide a grip. Decline bench is safer on the shoulders as well, and floor presses are even safer, though your triceps and shoulders get most of the work rather than your chest with that one. Benching is a skill, so you need practice to be good at it.

  • When discouraged by a lack of change in your outward appearance, it's important to recognize that the change is happening below the surface. You will feel results before you see them. Keep track of your sets and reps and the weights you're moving, and celebrate when those numbers go up. Be proud of thay accomplishment, recognize it, because for a while that's the only results you're going to see. I used to not be able to do push-ups at all. Then I started doing them regularly. It hurt at first and I could only do a few at a time, but feeling the work become easier and then pushing myself to make it difficult again kept me motivated enough to get to the point where I was seeing actual, physical results.

    • Pushups got easier for me and I love doing them. I do dumbbell hammers, lateral raises, lunges. I drink milk, eat apples or eat beans and rice after. I dont see my muscles growing bigger than they already are. I dont know if they're at least getting stronger

    • @@Tribrid-zv3nq I'm not a professional by any means so please don't take my words as gospel, but you might need to increase the amount of weight you're lifting. If you're not feeling a solid, loose sort of achiness in the muscle groups you were working, then you really didn't push them hard enough to stimulate growth. If you can, consult with a professional. It sounds like your diet is good.

  • 3 weeks of arms/legs/back and I feel so much better. My diet is so much better, most of my stomach eating itself in the morning is gone, and when I wake up early in the morning I typically don't feel too tired compared to what I used to. Completely worth it.

  • I started lifting 3 months ago and while I haven’t seen any HUGE physical changes yet, I feel SO awesome about myself! I have been consistently moving onto heavier weights and I’m able to do so much more stuff without feeling fatigued! It’s improve my self confidence and just recently for the first time I looked in the mirror and said “Dang I look good!” Working out it so worth it!

  • Been lifting weights for a while and i LOVE IT. Arms big, i can lift most thinfs with ease whereas i see my friends struggle. I recently started running 2 miles a day and the first day felt like i was going to die and couldnt even make it a mile. Now 1 week later im running 2 miles non stop, not the greatest times, but i can do it without stopping. The best thing about excersise is the that the 1st day is always the hardest! Best of luck to everybody wanting to get in better shape!

  • I use to weigh-in at 241lbs. I now weigh-in at 174lbs. I started working out 3 days week. Now I'm at 4-5 days consistently. Day 1 (Tuesday) is triceps, shoulders and chest. Wednesday is leg day. On Thursday I do biceps and back. Friday is rest day. Saturday I do the stair master for 35 mins. Workout my core then go swimming for 30 mins. Sunday is full body workout, 2-3 sets each. Mondays and Fridays are rest days.

  • I’ve been active most of my life but never consistently in the gym daily until covid. I’m now 35/Female 5’8 and 130. I do 3 to 4 yoga classes a week, lift weights 5 days a week and heavy cardio sessions 5 times a week along with daily mile walks outside with my dog. I’m better shape than high school and feel maybe 23. Life is so much better when you feel good.

  • I like this video. I like the reality checks that it has. Pointing out that after a week, no matter how hard you exercise, you will look the same. Most people go to the gym because they think they look tubby or fat. Then after a week of hard work and feeling hungry, they look the same! This is why it’s a good idea to take a before and after photo after about a month

    • I wouldn’t be taking a “second picture” for at least 4 months ideally 6. If it’s necessary to keep you going try it. However it’s obsession on losing weight could be counterproductive. The issue is you put on muscle weight that is absolutely necessary to allow harder work outs. So that weight you gained is really swapping fat for muscle as well your body uses fat to cushion large muscles. Fat isn’t the enemy it’s just fat!!!

    • I agree with you and Curtis. If you are looking for small gains it’s better to do the inverse and do a pic after 3-6 months, and if you’re someone who needs to see progress, start at 1 month if you’re diligent lifting/eating and then do a pic every other week or so until you get you insta pic :) then just workout like a normal person with no pictures.

It's not scientifically and biologically supported in anyway even if you have ultra freak genetics.     • This works for physique as well as weight gain/lose: adjust your frequency for checking. If you did it daily, do it weekly. I'd you did it weekly, do it monthly. If you check too frequently, you can't possibly see the changes. Check yourself out in a month and you'll clearly see results

    • I can tell you I've been working out for 3 months now and honestly there were weeks where I wasn't consistent during the summer, that's just life. But the thing that always made me keep going was the pump, seeing my forearms triceps biceps chest etc. look 10x thicker and every other muscle group really motivates me. Aside from that my confidence skyrocketed (as did my testosterone) I felt strong mentally, so when I don't work out for like a week I start feeling self-conscious because I'm living to comfortably.

    • Good things take time. Keep up with your work and don‘t look to much in the mirror for your muscles becaus you will never notice them but if you look once a week than you will see changes also let your friends and family be your guide, they will notice the changes and it will make you feel happy. But don‘t expect them to see it afters a month or two because like I said it takes time but it will be a good time and a wonderful time. Also don‘t compare yourself with others every body is unique and not every workout will give you the same results as others. First take time to finde your own workout routine and when you find it keep doing it. You can try diferente once, once in a while but don‘t expect too much. I believe in you, you can do it 💪🏼 and keep going. The hard way is the best way, it takes longer but the reward is so much better.   • Fantastic video. I am on my 2nd year of long distance, high elevation hiking, and all the benefits mentioned here are completely true. The greatest benefits were the boost in mental health and my mobility/balance. I hope people will learn that life is so much better when you give yourself a chance to exercise regularly, despite the brief discomfort felt when starting out. It will always be 100% worth the effort in the end 😄

    • @@skater123256 Yeah, beginner gains are faster. At that stage, strength gains aren't just a result of hypertrophy, but connective tissues reformat for greater effective leverage and stuff. I got to a 2 plate overhead press recently, and it's pretty sweet. People even point out how strong my wife is now she's been coming with me for a year lol. She can curl 30kg.

    • Yeah man I was 5 weeks into my first gym endeavor and got COVID and had to take 2 weeks off too. Last week was my first week back. I didn't lose any of the small amount of strength gained, but definitely notice my energy levels are depleted. Just going to go back to my first few week routine and start again (albeit at slightly higher working weights). I am already looking forward to leg day tomorrow - I have faith we will both find ourselves on our feet again in no time :)

  • I like how this video also shows how it's possible to work out too often. I used to play soccer and I was simply doing too much cardio at one point to where I didn't want to eat, was constantly sore and tired, and simply felt like my body was numb. I know that may sound weird, but I just had no real feeling or pain in my muscles anymore. I was fit sure, but it was also unhealthy and I didn't have enough body fat. Lots of people talk about lowering body fat, but when it's too low your body doesn't respond that well. I simply didn't have a good enough balance. Sure my physical performance was good, when trying out for varsity as a first year I had some of the best endurance on the team, but I needed to eat more to create a healthy balance and find something to enjoy while working out too as during that time I lost my love for playing the game through my experience. Sure I could have continued or I could even go back now, but I know now I want to find a better balance that fits my lifestyle and schedule. It's also funny how appetite goes does down the more you work out, I find that crazy.

  • This makes senses now. Over a year ago I started lifting weights and I jumped straight into body building working out with 150+ lbs. I couldn't seem to get enough sleep or rest and I dreaded waking up in the morning to work out. After quitting for over a year I felt better but I started getting a gut... here I am starting slow. It's been 2 weeks and I feel better I'll wait on lifting weights for a few more months.

  • I started going to the gym just a few months ago twice a week mainly doing upperbody work after being self conscious for years. I've improved my bench by 65lbs from 95 to 160 now and hope to keep going up and even added a leg day and maybe in time I'll do a 4th day a week. It makes me more confident and I feel healthier and it motivated me to fix my diet too.

  • Ive been working out for almost a year. I did take a week off here and there and went 2 days a week here and 3 there but I routinely go 4 days a week. I went from 185 to 205. I had a gut and no pecs and skinny arms. My gut has slimmed down. My pecs actually have a little of that curve shape at the bottom. My arms are a full inch bigger. I look alot better. People notice I'm bigger and wider. It takes months to years to see the real change but stick with it. It gets fun once you make it past a couple months and you'll make some actual friends at the gym. Don't be scared. 100 % of people who go and stick with it, don't regret it

  • sometimes going to the gym everyday and only having yourself as motivation is hard. doing a sport is amazing for this. (Im a teen) I hated pe and was generally bad at any physical activity. Then I joined a karate club, 2 years ago. Not only did it help me reframe exercise into something positive that I love to do, but it helped my confidence and i made a lot of new friends.

  • tookk me like a solid 5 years to actually go consistently, been going just about every day for the past 9 months and ive gone from 115lbs to 145lbs of muscle. my mood has massively improved, stress is reduced and i feel way more awake and alert throughout the day. it's hard, but what i had to learn is that it's not about motivation, as motivation is temporary. you must discipline yourself, sacrificing your comfort for the greater good, and working out when it's the last thing you want to do. but after a little while it becomes easier and something you enjoy and take passion in. took me about 2-3 months to really get into it and now i'll never look back.

  • One of - if not the most important thing will be to get yourself a good (preferably better than just good) personal trainer to take you through the initial couple of weeks, at least. Don't do it all by yourself, assuming you know what you're doing. Plus, improve your dietary habits leading up to the the time you start. Not all at once. Steady and consistent progress. Biggest mistake most make are those two. Third, keep a detailed training journal. Makes a huge difference. Short and long term. Lifestyle has been a part of my life for close to 28 years (I'm now 51)

    • @@r4an-_-103 been working out for almost a year now and it took me 2 weeks to start seeing definition, and 1-2 months to see an increase in mass. best advice i can give is focus on strength not appearance. the more you pay attention to your appearance the longer it'll seem to take to get results. if you focus on strength your appearance changes will surprise you and it'll be easier to motivate yourself

  • I have lost 45 pounds in the last 2 months of diet alone with 2 laps of walking in the park some mornings. This video taught me so much that I didn't even know I needed to know.   • I just started to exercise because I got depressed. My mentality has broken down, and I start to feel more depressed everyday. I don't have no one to encourage me, so I start to build my confidence again by starting to exercise. I just started around a few days this week, and it was so painful but it made me feeling distracted from my depression.

    • Keep it up no matter how small the workout its better then nothing don't give up keep pushing, I myself started a week ago I'm 26 male was 187Ib and wanted to lose weight as I have my first child on the way with ny wife current weight is 181 I eat only one meal a day at 6pm and do 1 mile walk after work and 11Ib dumbell lifts after the walk and then a cool shower and meal prep for dinner and eat then bed early thats my current rutine

    • Hi , may I share my experience as well , I just wanted to say that , what you eat , and what you do everyday defines you. Every part of our body have its own muscle memory. Our body is our own temple and universe ... And that is the magic by being a human. I was once a jacked lean boy when I was 20 ... I researched pretty much heavily into how to keep my body and my brain healthy ,, and at that time , I could say that I was at my prime time... I have no problem in health, no insecurities what so ever , I was at only 9% body fat percentage and my brain functions so well I could feel it. But then something happened... Well I'd say ... Major incident or major traumatic experience happened in my life. And I got into depression, I admitted for 2 weeks into a strict mental ward .... I lose almost all my motivation to get moving...and I was suicidal for 2 years straight. But at 23 , I decided to get back up... Despite being so generally anxious ... (I also got G.A.D) I decided to get back up from my jobless life , and strive until I earn myself almost 3000$ dollar a month. At 24 I was able to buy my own car and needs ... But I still feel pretty empty , still feel that I am so lost and felt that I have that missing pieces that I need to find.I tried changing job, getting a girl, playing games, and so on ... But then I realized none of that helped me feel complete... And now I'm 25 and was jobless for 2 month now. But I felt happier than ever, why? Because I started eating healthy, and Ive done so many exercises.. I started taking genuine supplement... And start eating many2 type of food that my body needs, including herbs... I started realize that I was someone else in only 2 month length, I was happier than before .... I watched my depression goes away slowly and I almost felt like it crawl out of my body. My body start gaining the muscle that it lost ( which in my case, I have abit of muscle memory left ) And I feel like a new big bang inside my body starting to explode and create a new whole meaning. Remember... Your mind and body is what defines you... It is like a temple. If you build it so beautifully... It'll be beautiful to yourself and people out there, you will attract more success that you could ever imagine... Now I'm in the peak of my confidence and I will start a big business despite being jobless.. And my guy, even if you're giving up one day , and wanted to take rest .... What you've build and what you've given to your body, will thank you... It will remain historical, like a temple... A beautiful history. And that my guy... What I call and define 'love yourself' .. don't let any body get thru you.

  • Returned to my usual workout routine today after being off for 2 months due to: injury, sinus infection, work trip, Covid , and it generally being too hot outside. Can confirm I’m sore but I am so looking forward to good quality sleep and the mood boost I get!

  • I am an HES major (Health and Exercise Science) and I love this video! Despite that I have a lot of knowledge regarding health and exercise, it can still be hard to apply them. Consistency is the main factor in maintaining physical fitness and healthy dietary lifestyle. There are SOOO many people that have no knowledge, so it’s always important to spread the word 👏🏽 Also even though I know a lot of exercise physiology, i still like watching these and kind of testing myself lol
