I swear, this is the best book series ever. I mean, those books are just plain fun. They were SO FUN to read, and I loved how all the characters were written. I always thought it was an underrated series, and luckily, Disney thought so too. I literally didn’t know anybody else cared about the series as well.

i found one copy in the library and felt bad that i couldnt talk to anyone else about it then here comes Rick Riordan announcing his books to be adapted by Disney+ and mentioned bout the mysterious benedict society. It made my day!

LOL i love gravity falls and arrested development and both of my favorite characters are in this show which is like series of unfortunate events which i also love and i love these books so this show is just for me and i bet a lot more people

Wait - they're just revealing that he's a twin brother in the trailer? That's supposed to be a twist, and even Mr. Benedict isn't supposed to know that, since they were separated at birth! I'm hoping that since the audio sounded spliced there it's still a twist in the series. Other than that one worry I'm really excited.

it’s kind of hard to hide the fact that they’re related in a trailer versus a book so that’s probably why they did it but i was pretty disappointed as well about that
There are so many little details in here lifted straight from the books! Reynie's mismatched socks, Number 2's pickle jar, the line about cheating, room 7B, the underground passage into Mr. Benedict's yard that Milligan climbs out of, Kate taking off the air vent. I'm so excited!

i think it’s bc it’s pretty obvious they’re the same actor / twins on screen but in the books it was easier to hide bc the reader has to imagine the character,, it makes sense to just reveal it unless they weren’t identical

as a huge fan of the books, this looks amazing and i'm so incredibly excited for this series! i just wish they would've made mr. benedict a tiny bit older. in the book's illustrations, he looks like a grandfather. but that doesn't damper my excitement.

The fact that it’s going to be a series is promising to me because that way they won’t have to cut out important parts of the book to fit an hour and a half movie format, you know? I’m excited, I loved the books and this trailer seems good so far!
It was definitely the right choice to go with an 8-part series and not try to shove it all into one film.

I agree entirely. Just finished the whole show. The books came out after I was well into adulthood, so this was my first introduction and my mind is just blown. What an amazing series.

I'm 100% with you on this. My kids and I absolutely love this show. I'm very disappointed this got removed. It's one of the best shows they've done in quite some time, and it deserves more seasons.

Not sure about the casting for Benedict and Kate... but as long as they adapted the story faithfully, I’m in!
I feel like Mr. Benedict is casted well, we'll see about Kate! Kate in this trailer doesn't have her usual ponytail but I'm glad to see her red bucket. As for me I think Constance should have been a tad bit smaller and younger considering she was only two-years-old in the books but I do understand the change since finding someone to a play a smart two-year-old would be very difficult. It was easy to translate book Sunny Baudelaire to movie/TV one since Sunny in the books spoke gibberish and was clearly stated to be a baby, whereas Constance was only revealed to be a toddler by the end of book#1 (from what I remember). Nevertheless I'm so excited because Stonetown's visuals look so great and the wardrobe for Number Two is phenomenal - she looks like a pencil indeed!

And as for constance, i do appreciate the actress' snarky behavior! Wish they made her raincoat more red than with a pinkish tone but again it must be for them to look visually pleasing which i totally understand! And yes, I really hope this becomes at least as successful as the ASOUE Netflix series and not a flop such as the Percy Jackson/A Wrinkle in Time/Artemis Fowl book to TV screen adaptations 😭😭
also, Mr. Benedict doesn't have a lumpy nose. It is like the sharpest nose they could get. That really frustrated me.

Gives me a tiny bit of hope for percy jackson. Disney is still the ones who ruined Artemis fowl. One of my favorite book series as a kid.

Watched the show. Never heard of the books. The twin brother reveal was WAY less dramatic than the tension going on between the kids and Nathaniel. That’s the real meat and the show handles it outstandingly. Writing. Directing. Deliberate pacing. Character development and growth. True relationships. And top tier production design (y’all see that food??? ). I really love this show.
The production design was out of this world. I'm in genuine awe of what they accomplished.

@@Dragon1276 with this it's a series though. I'm optimistic. Also, Wrinkle in Time doesn't translate well to film as it is in the book.
@@kdurden A Wrinkle in Time was made into a movie once before, and it was closer to the book. The idea of making Charles Wallace adopted and eliminating Sandy and Dennys removes a massive part of Meg's character: Sandy and Dennys are incredibly athletic and popular, Charles Wallace is a genius, and Meg seems and feels mediocre by comparison. Also, A Wrinkle in Time is just the first book of The Time Quintet series. I feel kind of embarrassed for you that I have to tell you that.

I highly recommend reading at least the first one. It was my all time favorite book as a kid, and even now it's one of my favorites. Extremely well written, super interesting plot, lovable characters. It is a children's book, but much like Harry Potter, you get sucked into the world regardless.

I read these books when I was young Things they got right in this trailer: 1. The yellow outfit that Number 2 got (although her skin was said to be yellow but I’ll let that slide) 2. 3 of the kids look like their book counterparts. And even some details about them they got right: Sticky being the book-smart one with spectacles, Reynie being ordinary, Kate being mechanical and having a bucket, Constance wearing her raincoat and being small 3. The house being filled with books 4. The villain being Mr. Benedict’s twin brother 5. The room with the white, black, and yellow squares 6. “If any child is caught cheating, they are executed-“ *gasp* “I mean, excused” 7. Rhonda and Milligan looking like their book counterpart 8. The place in an island Things that they didn’t get right here 1. Mr. Benedict and Mr. Curtain both wear glasses. Mr. Curtain especially since he uses reflective lens to hide his narcolepsy 2. Kate is supposed to have a ponytail 3. Mr. Curtain’s reveal is supposed to be later on when they were already in the school 4. Edit: Oh yeah, Mr. Benedict and Mr. Curtain are supposed to be older 5. Sticky is supposed to be bald 6. While Rhonda does look like her book counterpart, she was supposed to be able to pass off as a twelve year old (this one is on shaky ground at best because what happened in this part in the book could be different in the movie) Still hope that this will be a great adaptation of the books. I can’t wait
I don't love that they changed it so that they already know that Mr. Curtain is the brother. That was one of the best shock plot points in the series.
In the book Number Two actually says escorted. The fact that they couldn't even get that right wasn't exactly promising. Also she is supposed to be way younger.

I felt extremely happy and thrilled when listen a few Tamil words conversation between Ms. Perumal and Reynie. A rare occurrence in western series. Thanks to acknowledge it.❤️ Kudos to whole team. Peace ✌️❤️
This was literally my favorite show ever next to DuckTales 2017. I can't even rewatch it or anything now that they took it off. At least make DVDs of it or sell it to another streaming service or something

IMDb says that Ms. Perumal will be in all eight episodes. I wonder if this means they expanded her role because in the first book, she was really only in the opening and the ending, and a sometimes mentioned character other than that.

i think we might get to see more of reynies backstory with her through flashbacks in some episodes

Oh God, it’s been so long since I’ve read the books, I never thought they’d get adapted.
When I first heard of the mysterious Benedict society, I'm not gonna lie, but I wasn't sure if i would be interesting. But after my aunt convinced me to watch, I got hooked. This series is what actually introduced me to the original books. I read the first one, and I gotta say, whoever wrote it has the most incredible sense of humor. There were some parts where I just couldn't stop laughing. I haven't gotten a chance to finish it yet but I'm pretty hyped.

I've been fantasizing about a motion picture adaptation of these books for over 6 years now. Mulling over who would play whom, how I, as the director of the film, would shoot the scenes, etc... and though some things aren't how I imagined them, I do feel overjoyed to see it receive the recognition it deserves. Here's hoping Disney doesn't mess it up. It's not like they have a track record of doing that or anything... >.>

I just started watching this show and omg... What a pleasant surprise its been... All the actors are WONDERFUL! Milligan is my favorite character. Also love Constance, who accent and facial expressions are just adorable.
Hopefully they don't massacre this one like they did Artemis Fowl. Mr. Benedict is young and Kate doesn't have blonde hair so I'm already getting worried.
Constance can't exactly be an actual 2-year-old - finding one that happens to have *her* sheer level of mental faculties is outright impossible.

I loved these growing up! I had no idea they were making it into a series but I’m so excited
As a book purist, I'm miffed at how many little changes there are from them. They jar me out. Notwithstanding, Disney kept the important stuff, and this is looking like a good series of its own accord.
This feels like a prequel to The Umbrella Academy
Season one is INCREDIBLE. Can't wait for more!
I absolutely loved this book (and the sequels a bit less so) as a kid so I'm a bit disappointed that I don't remember it so well. All the more excuse to watch the show! It better be good. My fifth grade self would be so excited right now!

For years when someone has asked my favorite book or series, I have always answered the Mysterious Benedict Society. This series has been my solace for years and one of my reasons for wanting to become a librarian. Am I ready for more people to know my secret book, my favorite place to go? I hope so. Reynie, Kate, Sticky, Constance, Mr.B, Number Two, Rhonda, Mulligan.... I’ll see you in a month
aaaaaa! i dont know how to feel about this!! on one hand im extremly excited due to the fact for the longest time i was the only person i kew who read the books on the other hand im nervous and already dont like certain aspects such as how they revealed mr.curtain in the trailer and constace looking much older than shes described in the book
I absolutely loved these books in my early teens. I cannot wait to see this a decade after reading the books!!!

i always imagined things smaller, darker, more intense, and less grand
That’s kinda the trade-off you have to make when adapting a book to a visual medium like film. Since this is an interpretation of the source material, it’s never going to be exactly like you pictured in your head.
