In this Minecraft redstone video, Mumbo uses the immersive portals mod to create an impossible base in Minecraft. Just like the Mumbo Tardis in Minecraft video, this makes use of the immersive portals mod to create non-Euclidian geometry in Minecraft, allowing us to have rooms that are positioned in illogical ways.

  • These portals are so immersive that I forgot I was actually building a bedroom in the Nether... it’s very good I didn’t test the bed! OH, and I left the promxix part in because it made me laugh. I guess my editing mistake is not making it clear that I intentionally left it in? ha!

    • No it's minecraft's "1 block at a time" system. If multiple things happen at the same exact game tick, then stuff tends to go wrong.

  • Friendly reminder that the portal frame as we know it is the "minimum" size, you can build them taller or larger for a more estheticaly pleasing effect, depending on your build

    • the sizes of the different portals behind each other would need to be the same. so there would be spots you could potentially slip around one and into the other, but if you looked thru the 1st you couldn't access the 2nd.

  • You have to come up with some kind of Scooby-Doo set up where you come in one door and out a different one in the same hallway. If you used a second account or a few other players to help record the whole chase it would be great. Either that or some kind of Escher set up.

  • Actually, the Immersive Portals isn't nearly as simple as you make it sound. You've completely overlooked the portal helper blocks and all of the Immersive Portals commands, including the one to put you in isometric view (no depth)

    • Sounds like a prank that could be pulled on the server. Link a chain series of portals so that the Bdubs thinks the room is in the Overworld but is in the nether. Have the walls 2-3 thick wood/stone with an exterior of obsidian & no windows. Place a grand bed in the center & trick him into the room around sundown (game time). Poor Bdubs will be exploded on everyone's chat messages.

  • Two things, first, for modders, the april fools mod that generates a dimension based on a book tossed into the portal, that mechanic could be used to determine where and in which direction a portal connects. Second, I'd love to see the Mad Mage dungeon created by Alexandrian remade in minecraft using this mod.

  • Here's a thought. Do the reverse. Build the rooms in the overworld, but make the Redstone part in the nether. That way you have a portal leading to the entryway of the house (which is in the nether), and the entryway has portals to each room (in the overworld). Then you'd have a functional bed in the bedroom you could sleep in.

  • As a solution to the whole bedroom-in-the-Nether issue, you could just set up a second portal at the end of the first one taking you back to the overworld and link it up to an overworld portal that is underground or on the second story so the room is still relatively hidden.

  • You know, looking at this, if you somehow get your friend to download the mod without them knowing what it does you could prank them pretty good. Just make a regular house, have normal sized rooms and such, but make a portal to the bedroom. Just make sure they can't hear or see anything netherlike and wait till night >:)

    • @@Synnnister_ I think that’s not what was suggested. In the over world in your house, set a portal. Go through the portal and set another portal linking back to the over world. Now build your bedroom in the over world. To hide the bedroom, just make sure that when you come out of the second portal in the over world that you come out underground. No ones talking about moving any blocks.

  • Oh mumbo, you haven't even gotten started with this mod. You can make portals without the Obsidian frame, one-way portals, you can make portals that exit in the same dimension. It's quite an exciting mod

  • I love this! Challenge requests since I don’t play Java but would love to see: 1) hide the obsidian (larger portals with small frames) with a slightly larger “hallway/entrance” to try and create a near seamless transition over world to nether 2) the vertical portals, I’m sure it’s been done but I haven’t seen it yet: an infinite fall portal link where the only way out is to shoot an arrow at one of 2 redstone target blocks (while in persistent fall) that EACH breaks a portal. But if you shoot the target on the nether side, the portal that breaks will drop you in lava. And if you shoot the overworks target, then the portal that breaks drops you into water!

  • Custom portals mod combined with immersive portals is brilliant. You can make overworld point to point portals and also into the nether. I haven't tried to create one into the end yet. Try putting portals on top of each other, you can fall forever. I put a spiral inside the portal with a clock generator that causes water dispensers to turn on and off as the tick travels around the dispensers causes a spiral while falling infinitely.

  • I like that mumbo did not realise that he literally built a "bedroom" in the nether with normal beds. I have a better idea for a bedroom in the nether. You could build a big bed with carpets one block from the ground with trapdoors on the sides with a respawn anchor inside the fake bed.
