"Nothing screams Vegas like Mustard" I'm still laughing at that one....
Crazy part about the Draisaitl miss is that he pretty often scores from worse angles with much less room
Sheer act of god on that one
It looked like a really lazy shot attempt from him
Couldn't have explained it any better
@@LetsGoWrongboarding Like in Pulp Fiction when Vincent and Jules did not get hit by any of the bullets at point blank range.
That was like a PERFECT hipcheck. That shouldn’t ever be a call, I don’t care about what’s been going on in the league recently.
I'll get some hate for this, but it looked like his leading foot might have taken out the "tripped" guys foot before the hip made contact. That's the only reason I can see for calling it a trip.
@@rickseiden1 SO his lead foot was in a position where it could look that way... but the momentum and direction of the player on going down from the hit shows 100% it was a perfect hip check, not a trip, I would say.
It was more of a make up call for 3 nothing calls in a row on the Knights in 4 minutes. It's bullshit, but so were all the calls called on the Knights. I hate it, personal, but it just shows that the NHL reffing system is broken.
VGK fan here, was a clean hipcheck. Refs are just being little uber- bitches this year
@@rat3072 Don't get me wrong. I'm not arguing that it IS a trip, just that this might be what the ref was thinking.
Every week I literally just sit around waiting for Steve to make a new Steve's Dang-Its (And I guess Hat-Picks). "Tend the goal" has become a self-mantra. I might have a problem.
For every 1 hat-picks video I watch, I watch 2 dang-its.
Whenever one of my cats loses the dominant position in a fight with the other one.. "if youre a goaltender.... TEND THE GOAL"
Me too, especially in the video games, _especially_ especially when one of my OCs is a Hextall-esque goaltender who _loves_ playing the puck...
Do you think the goalies are being a little ... loose ... just to get on the next dang-its video?
@@shawnhill4779 Nah, bad for those stats
I hope to see fans chanting "IF YOU'RE A GOALTENDER, TEND THE GOAL" when the away goalie misplays the puck.
I wouldn’t put it past Predators fans to chant “TEND THE GOAL.”
TEND THE GOAL ! TEND THE GOAL!
STAY IN THE NET, BLYAT!
I see them all over facebook comments
TEND THE GOAL TEND THE GOAL TEND THE GOAL HE SHOOTS HE SCORES YOU SUCK IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT IT’S ALL YOUR FAULT
I think the Lehner one more so falls under “If you’re a goaltender, tend ONLY the goal”
That's the second hip check I've seen called as a trip this season. Letang got called for what was obviously a hip check a few weeks ago.
The refs are blind this season
I hate that the kind of 90 degree hip checks that guys like Konstantinov used to put on have all but gone extinct in today's hockey. Those were some of my favorite hits to watch highlights of
Missed dang-it: Sabres score the game tying goal, called correctly on the ice, only to have the situation room call into the game to review it, incorrectly call it offsides and take the goal away, then after the game after getting called out, sending an apology note that they got it wrong. Double dangit for people who still think that play was legit offside even after the league said they got it wrong and even after they released a video of what offside is that directly corroborates calling this one an onside play. Oof.
Petition to start a “goalies gone wild” series to showcase only goalie dang it’s
Or do both dang it’s and hat picks in the same video
Since this happens like several times a week he basically can start a new series...
I'll never get tired of Steve yelling about tending the goal.
Cuz they NEVER LEARN!!!!
I get the frustration, but the screeching's getting on my nerves.
@@greatsave7 then stop watching?
Here’s one you missed: The sabres game tying goal ruled off then later confirmed good goal by the league after the rangers won the game 2-1
League Office calling ... oops, our bad. Maybe you'll get a point next time?
@@shawnhill4779 Lol
you could tell Spencer Knight was just kinda... dying on the inside there that game was 17% of all goals scored against him *ever* last season he gave up that many *total*
For real Brunnette needs to be let go solely for that alone. Young goalie is struggling and you leave him in to get shelled? Add that to the fact that the team never looks prepared at the start of the games and has to claw their way back into victories? Bruno did a good job holding the fort down but the Panthers have got to find a long term guy behind the bench now.
Oof
@@connorbrechbill6516 reminded me a lot of Roy's last game in montreal, like just take him out
The "if you are a goaltender, tend the goal" thing will definitely become a major feature in the next NHL EA game
Idk about the "next" EA NHL game, but maybe the next one they make any significant change to... so, 2025? 🤷♂️
Tend the goal x factor - never leave ur crease
Steve’s goalie rants are just the funniest 🤣🤣🤣
How'd he miss your teams goal against the Kraken.
@@alphaspursncowboys Oh yeah, Donato’s goal. That happened on Wednesday and they shot the video on Wednesday. The Dang It’s just keep coming and coming lol
The world will end when Steve doesn’t say “If you’re a goaltender, tend the goal!” In a dang it’s video
As a goalie I have to say that Lehner was trying to see around a chaotic screen and likely thought the puck was coming in closer to the net than it was. I’ve done a similar move and you feel like and idiot, but you feel more like an idiot if you don’t react - thinking it’s going wide - and it catches the corner. Better to try than not
14:02 I love how the announcer initially says “He scores” (referring to Vejmelka).
Also, next week, include the Hawks scoring 3 goals in 34 seconds against the Capitals
That will probably go in hat packs
@@JacksonPinchot It was a dang-it for WSH
I don't think the Robin Lehner Dangit was a tend the goal moment. I think he wanted to catch the puck to freeze it to get a break for his team since they couldn't clear the zone. Still a Dangit none the less
This*
+
And also he was getting screened and tried to get a view and saw the puck and grabbed it, ( along with what you said)
Ott/Fla game announcer: "you don't see this very often" Steve: Shows 4 of the same play in a week... If you're a goaltender...
TEND THE GOAL!
At 6:03 , Steve: "You know what screams Vegas...mustard." Me: "I know they look bad on TV, but have you seen the jerseys in person?"
You should keep a running tally of all of the goals scored on goalies not tending the goal. This deserves an end of season montage AND like a top 10 video. It's KZhead gold.
That hip check “trip” penalty was abysmal. That was a perfectly clean hip check. Refs were bad on both sides in that game coming from a Wild fan
It's not a Dang-Its video without Steve screaming "TEND THE GOAL!!!!!"
Best part about the kampf goal was Dubas' face when the puck goes in!
The gologosski call hurts my brain
Biggest Dang-it was no hockey monday night
As a goalkeeper (yes, from football), I didn't even notice what was wrong with Lehner's actions, you always react when the puck/ ball is flying towards you
Nothing was really wrong, he was doing his job, he just happened to make the non-threatening shot turn into a goal due to an unlucky bounce out of his glove. That’s why it’s a dang-it :)
I am crying over the “mustard” delivery. Thank you, sir, that was hella saucy
I love the "I'm gonna help" with arms swinging. Makes me think of toddlers that are like that. Also I legit laughed out loud at the "Saddest Snow Angel"
Can we get a Dang- it for the failed high five in the crowd on the Robin Lehner Dang-it? Painful stuff.
I was hoping Steve would joke about that.....too bad :P
@@redsader86 I was hoping so as well. It was right there lol. Oh well.
Breaking news: Teams will start requiring goalies to watch Steve's Dang-Its in an effort to teach goalies how NOT to tend the goal.
The Jonathan Quick re-direction into his own goal was worse, but that takes a close second.
Did anyone else get a little sad when they got into all of Steve’s content and finally found out his last name isn’t actually Dangle? Ah, I see I’m the only moron
Earlier this week I was doing a search for a very specific clip and the Wkikipedia article on Steve was in the results. That was the first time I was exposed to his real name. I had my suspicions, because it was too coincidental, but didn't give it more than a passing thought.
Man. I love your work. Not a true hockey fan by any means but I keep an eye on your videos! TY!
0:00 If a Dang-Its video doesn't start with "If you're a goaltender...", then we know Steve's being held hostage or something and he's trying to give us a message...
As a Knights fan, that is not tripping. That is a hip check and should not have been a penalty.
No, the Robin Lehner Dang it does not fall under "If your a goal tender...". As you said, he's a goalie. His job is to try to stop the puck. He was trying to do his job. Yes, it was wide. But he was trying to, say it with me, Tend the Goal!
For the "tend the goal" argument. The problem isn't goalies playing the puck. Done properly, that's something that differentiates between good goalies and great ones. The problem is just mistakes they make that lead to goals; goalies make more mistakes in the crease that lead to goals than when playing the puck, but the latter is just so much easier to criticize to the eye of a non-goalie
Oh my God!!!!! Steve's Dang-Its. My Favorite KZhead Channel is SPORTSNET. With Steve bringing these fantastic shows together , especially with the Dang-It's I am hooked for life. Absolutely no Sports Commentary can compare with SPORTSNET. Steve has got this Channel moving. The shorter version NHL Replays re-plays is also helping. Give all these guys and gals a Thumbs-up for great video content.
I knew as soon as I saw that Veggie turnover I knew it would be here. Man it’s nice to see my flyers in one of these things where they ARENT the offending dangit team
Leon finally made it into a Video… and it‘s a dang-it video. That‘s a dang-it. 😂
I was there for the Blues/Stars game. Can even see myself in the clip, the second it happened I said "That's a dang it." Glad I was right.
Great work as always. Did you Andrei Svechnikov try to temper tantrum on the goal post in the last 5 minutes of the Canes vs the Canucks. Kind of went under the radar but super funny. Worth finding I promise.
I feel like Steve yelling about goaltenders not tending the goal is becoming a weekly tradition at this point
I was waiting for this to get uploaded 😂
Lehner gets a pass on that imo. 99.99% of the time, that's a great play. You get your team stoppage of play to regroup.
I think the real Dang-It on the Lehner Dang-It is the fact that no one is trained to expect the puck to decide that it's suddenly going to bounce out of a glove and land _directly_ in front of the now open net
I can’t believe that Cale makar’s walk of the entire Anaheim pk on Monday dec 6 didn’t make hat picks for makar or dang it’s for Anaheim.
I love these videos so much!!
A great job done by Producer Drew. Great Work!!
Tend the goal has now officially passed the Devils for most mentions in dang it’s
This is what I look forward to every Thursday 😁😁😁
I swear we need “They lost to a 42 year old …” merch!
RDR2!!! lol and that was the cleanest hip-check I've seen in a long time.. ref dangit dangit DANGit!
I was actually in the arena for the Panthers Dang-it, proudly reminded knight and my entire section that goaltenders should tend the goal
Watching from home a sens fan, that was a very sad dang-it. Not that he wolf have saved it anyways but his own player stopped him from getting back in the net lmao
You missed the obvious trip on Kaprizov! That was embarrassing for the refs.
Missing obvious trips is an every night kind of thing. Dang-its are special failures, not routine failures.
Every time I watch Dang-Its I just thank god Holtby did his job and was able to get 'the save'
Last clip, I was like, "What was he thinking?!"
Was watching that Vameljka blunder live. Immediately tweeted Steve "if what just happened to Karel Vameljka isn't on your next Dang-Its video, then that itself is a Dang-It"
I watch these every week and have developed a habit of keeping my hand over the volume controls so my eardrums don't get blown out by "TEND THE GOAL"
These videos always make me smile
One of my favorite moments of the week!
Murphy laying face down on the ice, motionless, after that Leafs goal is a mood.
2:33 Bonus Dang-It: This fan's high-five....
The 4th 'tend the goal' that Drew said "worst ever"... yeah, that was pretty bad, but glorious.
When that happened to Knight live I thought he got hit in the head with the puck
the last one is the same as Tristan Jarry in the 2021 Playoffs round 1 game 5 vs the islanders
The hip check shouldn't have been penalty, but in full speed, look at the feet, I can see how the ref could have seen it as a trip. Side note, I am not a fan of either team nor do I defend refs.
All of us r/flyers were wondering what the goaltender was thinking while laughing hysterically and trying to make sure Producer Drew saw it on Twitter.
I knew the Lehner goal was going to make the show, because as soon as i saw it happen, i looked at my wife and said "That's a Dang It."
I always look forward to both Steve's dangits and hatpicks!! I love playing the game of "ooooh that'll be on dangits". xD #GoKnightsGo! #IfYoureAGoaltender #TENDTHEGOAL!!
i love it when goalies angrily drink water after a goal xD
"Pet-rah-angelo"? Where in the hell did Steve get the "rah" in the middle, it's not there: PETRANGELO. That's a dangit!
That Blues' goal looked like that puck may have made it into the net anyway, Lindell just helped it get there faster.
This is true comedy hour love Steve dangle
I laughed at “donkey kick the puck in the net.” Haha I’m so lame.
To Robin Lehner: You only Oil Your Gloves In Baseball! LOL
My explanation for why Draisaitl missed that open net (and why other elite players sometimes miss open nets more than they miss regular shots) is that their brains aren't hardwired just to shoot at the net, they're hardwired to shoot at *just outside* the silhouette of the goalie. He shot six inches to the goalie's left...which happened to be a foot wide of the net. When you see players miss an open net, it's almost always wide to the side that the goalie is off to.
I’ve seen a player shoot the puck too high on an empty net
Steve there was a game where one player was skating backwards in the centre of the rink. runs into two player from the same team who are falling on each other. jumps up and wanted to take on everyone because it was a hit from behind. jets and ?
First. Steve, I love you so much thank you for giving me something to look forward too every week
I'm surprised producer Drew didn't think the goal called back for goaltender interference for the avalanche vs the rangers with 7:30 left in the 3rd period was a dang it. Steve has featured very similar ones to this on dang its and I thought i would see it on here
I was kind of hoping we'd also see Kuemper falling on his stomach to let in Gauthier's shot. With all the goalie miscues this week, however, I'm not surprised they didn't show it.
After seeing the Chicago and Toronto game I literally was thinking “if you’re a goaltender, TEND THE GOAL” and that it would be on the next dang it.
As a hawks fan i was just waiting for it to show up
i had to pause the video because i was laughing so hard at “do you know what screams vegas? mustard”
I wish they’d get Steve to guest on NHL 23.
As a goalie you can't always be sure a shot is going wide, I feel like it's always better to assume it isn't...
And that was a perfect hip check , not a super impressive one even but just a little bump. Big deal. Oh well just another bullshit call. Managing games instead of just calling penalties.
For Lehner - I think he was still technically "tending the goal". It's not like he was out of the crease or anything. Serious fumble, but at least he was in position. For Goligoski - The refs are calling trips any time a player's legs get taken out this season. Yeah, it was a hip check, but his leg still took out Stone's leg, which is the reason Stone faceplanted. For Draisaitl - Open nets are the hardest ones to hit. When shooting on goal, you're supposed to shoot the puck where the goalie is weakest, so if there's no goalie in the net, it's a bit tough to pick a spot. I think it's funny that Steve believes that goalies flubbing the puck out of their net is something "rare". The only rare thing is that the opposing team has someone in a position to rifle a shot into the open net. I'd wager if you told Producer Drew to include clips of goalies who turn over the puck, regardless of whether it results in an immediate goal, Dang-Its would be an hour long every week.
Never let your goalie say IMA HELP
As a goalie, you develop a pretty strong sense for where your posts are, and can absolutely tell when a puck is going that far wide. Lehner could have easily chosen not to play that, so I think "If you're a goaltender..." definitely applies. It may have been instinct, but even his instincts knew that shot was wide.
Seguin is usually living in "can't hit the broad side of a barn" zone these days. We refer to hitting posts/crossbar as "he Seguined it."
Clearly a hip check, no tripping.
Lehner my guy 🙄 1. The puck clearly was going wide and we goalies are taught that if the puck goes wide don't reach out and make a save because you can end up deflecting it in your own net. 2. If we make that decision to make a save even if it's going wide we need to actually make the save or just deflect it away in the corner.
Can we just get a Simpsons intro, but instead of Bart at the chalkboard, it’s Steve writing “If your a goaltender, tend the goal” repeatedly?
Yeah, that last one is.....WOW!!
"I'm gonna help" 😂
LMAO dude you’re hilarious! “Alright who’s next, WHOS NEXT”
There should be an episode every year called something like ”Steves Favourites” where he lists his favourite hat-picks and dang-its of the year/season.
can we just take a second and realize how many times a goalie gives the puck away with a wide open net and either makes a miraculous save or gets saved by one of their teammates.
I watched that Toronto goal against Chicago live! I absolutely couldn’t believe what I had witnessed! I just looked at my friends continuously saying “did that just happen?”
