  • 7 minutes of leg locking, diving for submissions, athleticism and finally finish with a Head & Arm choke. Modern grappling has made a full circle back to it's catch wrestling origins.

    @kallepikku4991@kallepikku49913 жыл бұрын
    • Delusion at its finest. Both these guys started out as Gi Bjj players. Catch wrestling has no claim to their success AT ALL. And modern grappling having roots in catch wrestling? What about Judo and Japanese Jiu Jitsu? You know, actual grappling styles, not fake wrestling and rigged matches which is the origin of Catch? What about Modern Catch, where the best CACC competitor gets tapped by a 10th P guy thats not even in the top 100 No Gi competitors? You guys are literally a cult. Stop spreading misinformation.

    • @@imightdeletethislater3810 I think OP has a good point. No gi grappling isn't just mere jiu jitsu, it's become something quite different. I characterize it as submission wrestling or submission grappling but not jiu jitsu. Keenan also says more or less the same thing as OP but in a negative light: kzhead.info/sun/Y5muY8ule59vnI0/bejne.html

    • Was at a Craig Jones seminar at 10th planet portland in 2019 and Craig taught this exact defense to outside heel hook from double outside ashi. Have been to some Lachlan seminars as well on the 50-50, 80-20, 90-10 position sequences, too. To initiate the defense, you take a c grip in their armpit (right hand if they attack your right leg) in their thumb on backside and drive down. At the same time, scoop grip under their hip and try to keep their hips off the floor. This prevents them from being able to finisb and attack from double outside ashi. The right hand c grip feeds through into an underhook, just as you see Craig do here. The position basically then becomes a body lock like passing position with a natural option for the head-and-arm choke. Good stuff, really recommend the cost of a Craig or Lachlan seminar if you have the chance.

    • Mat Tricks this tournament was the same weight class. Believe it or not Craig and Giles are close in size. When they qualified for adcc last year they had a private match to see who would have to compete at 88kg. Craig drew the short end of the stick and was able to bulk up to about 86. Craig is bulking up significantly as of the past few months though. But at the time of this match they were close to the same size. Giles is shorter but dense.

    • @@WhtMike2006 In a way it's a good thing, I hate to admit it but if Craig had won the lower weight category, he wouldn't have had the chance to submit Leandro Lo. And if he didn't submit Leandro Lo, he probably wouldn't be as big of a deal as he is now. And thanks to Craig's success, we know how awesome the Velachiraptor is too! I was pretty shocked by Craig's submission of Lo. I mean, Lo handily outpointed Gordon Ryan. It wasn't a dominant victory, but it wasn't really competitive either; at no point in time did Gordon Ryan have any success working his game. Granted, Gordon stepped in last minute, so it's not a fair showcase of what he can really do. But at the same time, Leandro Lo clearly demonstrated his ability to avoid leglocks in that superfight.

    • @@WhtMike2006 Lachlan is not the same size with Craig lol Lachlan is not where close to 85 kg at best maybe he is 80 kg or a bit heavier. Craig walks around 94 kg and fights at that weight or sometimes fights at 88 kg.
