The 2023 US Open main draw runs from August 28 - September 10 in New York City at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The tournament takes place for the 143rd time and is the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year. Last year, Spain's Carlos Alcaraz and Poland's Iga Swiatek claimed the men's and women's singles titles. It was both players' first US Open title, with Alcaraz winning his first Grand Slam title and Swiatek winning her third Grand Slam title. This year, at the US Open, we’re set for another historic tournament as the world’s best tennis players head to New York. @@andrewthompson7707she was allowed to commit fouls repeatedly and w no penalty until Coco finally stood up for herself. Fouls in most sports are by mistake or a result of passionate competition. Intentional fouls are very different and says a lot about the player and their lack of sportsmanship and character. Stop defending the indefensible

Siegmund has always had a reputation on the tour for bending the rules. She's not very well liked because of what many feel is gamesmanship.

@@OpeyemiDaramola I saw tgis ince in a match between James Blake vs Tommy Haas. Crowd had no reason to boo Haas. Crowd was rooting for Blake because he is American. But the same crowd was nastily booing Haas everytime he lost a point. Crowd was nasty. You can't defend that kind of behavior.

Before the clock ends you have to start your serve motion. You don t have to hit the ball before it ends in this particular case.

Siegemund's right shoulder deserves a holiday after 23 minutes of serving. I do not think that she was sulking at the end, she just could not raise that right arm to shake the umpire's hand because it put in a shift.

I mean Djokovic is one of the Goats of tennis, holding the records in pretty much every record there is to hold, Siegemund is someone whom most people don’t have any idea even exists, and when they do they probably will still misspell her name. Not remotely comparable.
Djokovic used to do this kind of stuff when he was younger. He's cleaned up his act since then, but he was one of the worst when it came to suspiciously timed injury timeouts, stalling for time, etc. when he came on the tour. It's one of the reasons I've never been a fan.
@@freakytea2815 Yeah, the first match I seen him play he took injury timeout to slow his opponent down. Of course, he ended up turning the match around and winning. I'm still not a fan. I acknowledge his overall improvement and maximizing his skills though. Gotta give him credit for that.

Even though it was the first round encounter, it was really top-notch clash which was contended by Coco and Laura. Particularly, Laura made me suprised with some fallacious shots. From time to time, she can inspire all tennis aficionados and fans.
I always root against the Germans unless they are playing the Russians or the Chinese. Does that make me a bad person?

Brad Gilbert was telling Gauff what to do throughout the match. Does she really not know how to work it out herself?
Thanks to Brad as the consultant Coco imoroved her game but she has a problem in deciding what to do on court with the tools she has. She needs constant coaching similarly to RYBKINA eho was totally lost when Wukow was not present at a number of her matches lately so she lost or WO. Coco will be better and better.She is very young and now at the USO she has a load of pressure put on her. Despite her strong mentality this is new for her and it will be very difficult for her to handle. This match has clearly shown that.
That's what all coaches do... across all sports... they coach until the game is over. Why would this be different; is it a violation to coach in tennis? NOTE: Just looked it up... the US Open brought back coaching with restrictions. So, as long as he didn't break a rule, they're fine and she did win. Keep going, Coco!

Gauff faces Andreeva next. That should be the featured match of the second round. Andreeva is the next up and coming and won't go down easily. There's history between these two and sparks may fly. I actually think Gauff loses this as the first round messed with her head.

Coco won with the help of the umpire. On 0-40, 0-3 down in 3rd set, point was given to Coco hence handing Coco the game. That made a difference between winning and loaing for Coco. No one talking about this.
