"Path of The Wind" from the Studio Ghibli film, My Nieghbor Totoro. Written by Joe Hisaishi I OWN NOTHING!

I finally realized why this movie is so amazing, It is just a movie of two girls enjoying time with kind and loving creature enjoying the world together. There is no protagonist or antagonist, or any horrible events that cause you to worry too much. You just enjoy Totoro and the girls together. Truly an amazing movie.

Feels incoming So, when I was a little kid, my mother got me into Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Ponyo. I loved this movie as a kid and I would watch it almost every other week. It was when I turned about 10 that I forgot about the movie. Now, about a year ago I had a dream about this movie. I woke up and started crying from nostalgia, thinking about my childhood, this movie, and everything came back so suddenly. I had to stay up all night to find this song, and when I did I cried. To this day, I still cry everytime I hear this song. If you are still here, thank you, it means a lot. Always keep your childhood close to you.

Wolfeasy Hey,I should thanking you for make my day better after this. I was hooked for the first time when I was watching the walking castle (I forgot) recommended by my great grandfather who also watch the older movie like the grave of fireflies,Spirited Away and Kiki Delivery Service. Now I'm undergoing to living alone since my parents already giving a green light to make sure I'm gonna be fine after all. And god how I watched your comment invoked so many feeling and memories about how's our childhood is simple back then.Playing Pokémon Platinum with my Torterra at level 70 and my trustees Gardevoir who also fought with me at 6 Elite, and so many great cartoon and anime back then too.Gundam Wing is lit too. Then,Ghibli Studio came around and me and my great grandfather watched this from morning till noon and shared the laughs together. I'm sure I will keep my childhood close to my heart because I just want to enjoys it once more and you better enjoyed it too. May the wind guide you,my bro.

Those little girls in this movie and father too went through a sad time. Worrying about their mother. Tortoro comes and helps the children. The scene when growing the trees made me tear up. And I'm a big guy but this scene always gets me. Because it's so beautiful. The gentle creature that is tortoro and the little girls that sorta look up to him. This movie needs to be brought back. Now I didn't watch in the credits but the mom does get better and looks like the two girls have siblings. This movie is beautiful.

Sometimes i get jealous at mei and satsuki, Because even though they have it rough they still have the power to be happy and smile, And having a big friendly giant that cares for you seems amazing though I didn't even knew that this movie even exist when i was a child so I didn't had this in my childhood, And when i watched it earlier I couldn't stop crying for some reason, I can feel the nostalgia even though I haven't watched it before..

Same here ! I asked my sister if she saw My Neighbor Totoro before but she isn’t sure. Possibly I must’ve watched this a few times at least. Totoro reminds me of Appa from Avatar even though I’ve never seen the movie. They both seem like gentle creatures. My Neighbor Totoro somehow reminds me of Mulan in a way even though they are pretty much the exact opposite.

I think i know now why I cry when hearing Path of the Wind. It's because of the loss of our childhood. The loss of imagination, of being carefree, of not worrying about heartbreak, bills, jobs, etc. We, even at our worst moments, were just full of life and youth. Adulthood changes everything and I mourn for those lost days. But, we still have the Path of the Wind to bring us back to our younger days.

Ashley Chan I'm the same author as the comment. The reason why I said this is because Japanese society has increasingly been Westernized, so that Japanese cultural expressions from its past, like music, appear less and less. For instance, a good portion of recent anime has shown a tendency to emphasize Rock music and use settings that don't have anything to do with Japan.

Sad incoming When i was a child i watched this movie like no tomorrow, i knew it by memory and always watched it with my family, mostly my father. I have to tell tho, my mother and father werent a happy marriage but my father always got me presents to make me not pay attention to that. My father bought some totoro limited editon figurines straight from japan and i didnt know why but he hid them, i knew where thwy were but i didnt play with them because they seemed important. I have to recall that my father always was good to me and loved me with all his heart, we played with legos and built papercraft houses, but he changed. Since the divorce he started to get distant and strict, he wasnt him anymore, he got a new spouse and married her (she is great tho) and didnt even told me, she gave birth to my new sister and it seems that she is loved even more than me but im happy for her. When we moved out with my mom to the other part of the country we didnt see eachother that much, but in one of my vacations there, he gave me the figurines, he had saved them for me. I wanted to cry and hug him, but he is not the same person anymore, but the memories were still there, he isnt caring anymore but i still love him. I just wanted to say, that i love you dad, even if you dont love me anymore, you are not the same anymore, but i still love you, and would be happy if you just told me that everything is gonna be ok and that you love me. I just want to be happy again you know?

I know this story will go amid all the other comments, but it's mine and i still want to share with all the fellow humans who are interested. This movie has played an extremely important role in my life. Ever since my dad introduced me and my younger sister to it, one far summer evening when we were little, both of us immediately loved it. We watched it during lunch and dinner, whenever we were in the car ready for a new trip, every time we were on a holiday. We used to pretend to be satsuki and mei and look for totoro and all the other wonderful creatures in our aunt's house in the countryside. I turn 18 in a few months and right now it's really hard for me to see this movie again, unlike the others from studio ghibli. Just hearing the voice of the two little girls brings me back to all those smiles, the amazing adventures, the places we have explored and the ones we haven't. But most of all it breaks me because I miss how things used to be and how my family overall was much happier. Even though my sister is now almost 15 i still tend to take care of her as satsuki does for mei, and i believe that despite the years passing this is the only costant thing that will last forever. This music is the anthem of my childhood: it makes me think that although i am the one who leads the way, she is my light and i could not walk this path without her.
@uuu-uz3yl Жыл бұрын
Your story made me smile. After all, when I was little, I also tried to find something mysterious and amazing. And I still believe that there is something amazing that people have not yet been able to find. God created what we can see, and there is what he has closed from us. Who knows, maybe somewhere in the forest there lives a big and kind animal, which we have not met before.

My Neighbour Totoro was the first studio ghibli movie I ever watched, and as a kid who preferred more action packed stuff, most of the movie flew over my head. I adored the catbus scenes, sure, and I was always paying attention when totoro was on screen, but the rest sort of... fuzzed our to me. So when I revisited it recently.... boy, totoro hits different. I lost my dad about a year ago to cancer, and seeing those little girls experience the emotions that I experienced (what if they never come home?)... ghibli has a very real way of showing these things. I’m glad that they got their happy ending.

I can’t listen to this song without crying, it’s just too perfect and touching. It makes me think of everything and nothing all at once. More than anything it makes me think about how beautiful nature is and how the world is timeless and eternal. Momentary sadness is nothing before the eternal joy of life.

this song is basically my childhood. I remember sitting in front of the tv and waiting for my neighbour totoro to start. Apart from spirited away, it was and is still one of my favourite movies. There is something magical in these films only children are able to understand and even though I don't quite know what the most fascinating part is, I can see the magic. Therefore path of the wind will always catapult me back to the dozen times I've watched this movie when I was a child.

Watched it for the first time March 29th, 2023 (leavening that so I can remember when I grow old) and it was honestly a beautiful movie. While it didn’t have a huge plot, it was a serene and tranquil experience to say the least. It was… a journey. Just the feelings I got from this song alone made me tear up thinking about it the ride home. It feels like aim coming home for the first time after being away. Thanks Miyazaki.

My grandma loves studio ghibli movies, especially Totaro. Everytime I hear this song it reminds me of her. (She's still alive) but me and my cousins used to watch this movie at her house when we were younger. So, this song is the most nostalgic song for me and brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it.

I remember first watching this movie when I was younger, my dad had left to go to Afghanistan again and I was sad but then my mother said she had something that would cheer me up. We watched this movie and when this song played I made my mother replay it so many times. This movie is just- ugh, it makes me so happy and sad at the same time. I watched this movie again for the first time in a while, and I'll admit that I cried. A lot.

I'm an anime watcher and music/ost enthusiast. Being part of the anime community, I, of course, have heard of this movie. However, I have never decided to watch it. While scrolling through my recommendations, I happened to see this and clicked it out of pure boredom. When I listened to it, The first few seconds alone made me cry tears of joy and/or sadness. No backstory. No scenes to related to this music. Nothing but the music itself. I have never been so confused, fascinated and nostalgic.

Toshio Ozaki oh I couldn't agree with you more! I saw this movie when I was six. We rented it from a movie store in Michigan that has long since gone out of business, but after returning it I begged and begged my parents to buy it for me for my birthday for eleven years. They never could find it or so they said at the time. When dvds started coming out, I resumed my search for it. Just recently I was able to find it in Walmart, in between the firs time I saw it and now, my parents got divorced, my mom got remarried to my dad's best friend now my stepdad, my sister, who is six years older than me and was told she might not ever have kids because of a yeast infection, has been married and divorced twice, and had my nephew during her second marriage, before my nephew was born, my Real dad died of respiratory failure complications during the swine flu epidemic on the 8th of January, my nephew was born later in March of that same year. That's a lot to cover. Oh and before my dad died, a few years before that actually I graduated from high school, wrecked my first car, then Dad died my nephew is now 4, then After I think three years I got my first job and my second car, then to start breaking into the fashion business, I just recently altered a dress for a little girl of a friend of my sister's and also for a bonus, the same friends wedding dress for the big day and she has given me rave reviews. 😅 phew! Well since I got My Neighbor Totoro, I have started collecting the Studio Ghibli movies and am reliving those happier moments of my childhood before everything went sour and pear shaped. The movies I have so far are My Neighbor Totoro, Howl's Moving Castle, The Wind Rises, Princess Mononoke, and Spirited Away.

I woke up the next morning full of it, I had to tell mom about it! 2 days later we rereturned it, and i was so upset We rented it again 2 more times but thought that was a waste of time I asked my grandmother for it for Christmas and got 2 discs, mom gave me one and grandma, it was funny And then rented the cat returns, I'll get to that later!!!

The thing about Joe Hisaishi's music and Hayao Miyazaki's movies is no matter the age they make you feel young again and it is always magical each time you watch it and hear them. That is why it is a masterpiece because all things in life lose magic one day as we grow but these films will never lose what makes them magical.

Now I sit in my room listening to this, it’s been a year and I am still here. The 7 years worth of memories are still implanted in my mind, heart, and soul. Never heard anything as beautiful as this. I could never love again because my heart only knows of one love. That one person i could never be cold towards as she showed the true warmth in heart. Tears are relentlessly flowing and yet I am still here living in the shadows of that love. It used to be me and her against the world, now half of my world is missing. When I used to live in Japan, I would watch Totoro everyday after I came home from school as a kid, and I never got tired of it. I felt like I was living two worlds, my ordinary world and this other indescribable world when watching Totoro. I remember I had a dream that I saw Chū-Totoro and Chibi-Totoro playing outside of my backyard, but when I went outside to play with them, they slowly faded away. But then, I saw Totoro on his spinning top slowly spinning side to side, but then he flew away. I wish I could have played with them. Totoro was really a huge part of my childhood. It brings back nostalgia to when I had nothing to worry about. I will always have a big space in my heart for Totoro.

The first time I watched this movie was a trip tbh. It was super late at night on a weekend and I was home alone. My family had been meaning to watch it with me, as they all had, but we were all busy with work and school, so we never had time to. I decided right then to watch it on the tv in my kitchen. I made a little bed with a couple chairs, got a snack, some blankets, and started watching. I’m pretty sure I was in seventh grade, and I was super stressed. I was a terrible student, I even had 14 missing assignments at one point. I was doing better at this point, but constantly thinking I had missed something. I was still worrying at the beginning of the movie, but as it continued, my stress began to melt away as I followed the story of this family and a big, sleepy, gentle, kind brute. All this movie is is wholesome, and not many movies are like that. This movie is beautiful. Anyway, I’m gonna get back to my AP human geography homework.

It is, and for me it's not even the whole piece, it's that small, simple sequence of notes that no matter how it's played just always evokes that feeling of emotionally waking up. So much to learn in music like this.
You have to remember though that you can’t just wait for something to happen in your life to get rid of your depression. You have to do things yourself and take steps towards it. It could take some time but is very worth it in the end

Same man
I think i know now why I cry when hearing Path of the Wind.
Commented to remind you about this beauty Hoping for a reply

It was interesting to read your comments and I enjoyed them! Hope you are doing well.
My 8yr old son said this is the most beautiful song he had ever heard. He wanted to cry !
Your son is a legend
Same. It's beautiful that's is better than Disney movies. Movies without a protagonist and antagonist are the best
That is so sweet! My 3 year old LOVES the movie, and she hums this song to herself and when she hears it on a daily basis. I really hope she never forgets about this song or movie

I love the East Asian melody of this composition. It feels really Japanese, which ties in with just how much of an ode to Japan this movie is.
Word. Watching this movie over and over as a kid really made the rural country life of Japan seem particularly appealing. It showed so many drastic and subtle cultural differences we have in a really elegant way.
+Bacab Sad times :(
Ashley Chan I hope 4 years of wisdom has given you better insight as to what “really old” means.

I just want to be happy again you know?
reality .vs. imagination ...
watch ghibli movies with him, listen to the songs.
i’m so sorry, i cried reading that
Hearing this makes me so sad but happy because of how much you love your father 😊 I hope one day you’ll be able to find the happiness you’ve been looking for. 💕
oh dear, thats so sad,, im crying
@@williamrobert2042 Thank you so much for this beautiful comment. It filled my heart with joy and hope and got me tear up a little. You're right, and maybe one day we'll discover that all the things we have dreamed about are real. Maybe one day.

its weird how some movies can make you nostalgic about a childhood u never had.
Wow this song... I watched Totoro the other day and when I heard it, it sounded so familiar. I can't remember if I watched Totoro as a child, but I feel like I did. It's so weird...

This has got to me one of my favorite tracks. It's so inspiring, and it really makes me want to go and sketch out some characters of my own and write a beautiful story like this one. Studio Ghibli is a big part of my life, and I'm very highly influenced by it, in fact, it's the reason I want to study animation in college. I one day want to make an anime movie as good as this one. :)

this song is basically my childhood.
A lot.
I hope everything is ok
I'm an anime watcher and music/ost enthusiast. Being part of the anime community, I, of course, have heard of this movie. However, I have never decided to watch it. While scrolling through my recommendations, I happened to see this and clicked it out of pure boredom. When I listened to it, The first few seconds alone made me cry tears of joy and/or sadness. No backstory. No scenes to related to this music. Nothing but the music itself. I have never been so confused, fascinated and nostalgic.

That's so nostalgic! First time I heard it I almost started to cry! I love the soundtracks from Ghibli movies ^^
I like the original better even though I cant understand a word they're saying it's still beautiful
This was one of the first movies I've ever watched, and I never get tired of it. Yesterday, I watched it again, and I cried multiple times watching it. It's beautiful.
My music is simply amazing as well.
My 3rd Grade teacher was obsessed with Japan. She showed us this movie on the last day of school back in 2004.
That’s cool
This was the movie which introduced me to Studio Ghibli, so I remember this the best. Years later I listen to a soundtrack similar to this, and this clicked. The last time I heard this must be at least 5 years ago.
I get goosebumps every time I listen to this... This music just relaxes me so much 💙💙💙

When I was 4, my parents bought me the My Neighbor Totoro books. I liked it so much that they got me the DVD a year after. I had almost forgotten this movie completely, until I suddenly heard it after a while. I immediately searched the internet for it and as soon as I heard it I cried. There are no words to describe how much nostalgia this brings back from my childhood.
Just decided to watch totoro again and I heard this song all I heard was nostalgia. Best thing ever I heard in awhile
My dad introduced me to Totoro, and every time I watch it I can only remember when we watched together when I was little, I really cherish those memories, the nostalgia is real. I love you dad. 💗

Ed Brown I cried while reading this wow what a sad and beautiful story!
This song literally makes me cry every time I listen to it... what a beautiful masterpiece of a song.... god bless studio ghibli for making my childhood...

I will never forget the night I fell in love with this movie It was a little over a year ago, i was 11 almost 12, yes i am young, i know. My mom came home saying she rented My Neighbor Totoro I wasn't interested even though i love spirited away and ponyo etc. One night i was bored, put the disc in and fell in love, It was like a spell, I was like hypnotized!
God I love this song so much. Still here in 2021 I'm here watching these movies and crying cause of how good they are. This song always brings me back.

I never knew I was missing out such a masterpiece till tonight. I just finished watching this masterpiece. And yes this is a masterpiece. I can't help myself but to call it a masterpiece everytime! The story, music, animation is everytime one needs to calm their soul and mind. Now I realised, every night when I used to feel uneasy about a certain thing, it was totoro who used to soothe my anxiety. We all had a Totoro watching over us when we were small. And I still beleive that they're watching over us ♥️

My favorite ghibli theme
I feel all my memories coming back to me
I'm fourteen years old. When I was around ten, my uncle gave his copy of My Neighbor Totoro to my dad to borrow and let us watch. I didn't think much of it at first, but as soon as the film started I was so drawn to it. The music, the animation, and the simple year sweet storyline. After that i watched Spirited Away, then Ponyo, then Howls Moving Castle, and so on. These films give my such comfort. There are no villains, only a hero, not in search of fighting evil, but in search of good.
Studio Ghibli will forever be my favorite Movie Studio
Miyazaki’s movies means so much to me, like wow I discovered his pieces of art when I was a kid, but Now I still want to share my passion for these movies with everyone I meet, I just can’t explain how much I love it. All my love to Hayao Miyazaki

I have very fond memories of watching my neighbor Totoro and ponyo at my grandparents house with my siblings when I was very young. God bless Hayao Miyazaki and all of his work.

I cannot describe with words how magical it felt watching this movie as a child. I remember wanting so badly to see Totoro because I fervently believed that I could not see him once I grew up. I wanted so badly to visit that enormous tree, to live in that beautiful house, to explore that enchanted forest.. Watching this movie as an adult has intensified those feelings with nostalgia. This movie is part of the reason why I want to live in the countryside

The thing about Joe Hisaishi's music and Hayao Miyazaki's movies is no matter the age they make you feel young again and it is always magical each time you watch it and hear them. That is why it is a masterpiece because all things in life lose magic one day as we grow but these films will never lose what makes them magical.
I lost my one and only, this used to be her favourite. She loved every single studio ghibli animation and that love made me fall for it even harder.
This song warms my heart. It is a memory that will never leave me.

I remember I used to watch Totoro over and over again with my little brother when we were kids! Still one of my favorite Studio Chibli movies to this day!
First time listening to this and it already have my heart melting. how charming.
This song is soo awesome it makes me soo sad and happy :D
