    • Yes. Here, Deion played for the cowboys, while Jerry played for the 49ers. Deion was wearing white, while Jerry was wearing red. The field was green. There was 2 field goal posts. It was 11 on 11 football, 4 15 minute quarters. And Jar Jar Binks was a sith lord.

  • If only today’s DBs can play physical defense like Deion Sanders. Average WRs today wouldn’t be catching the ball 10 times for over a 100 yards. The fact Rice had over a 100 yards in the 1st quarter alone solidified how great he was.

    @AceLopez1@AceLopez12 жыл бұрын
  • Phenomenal job by San Fran in this game finding ways to force Deion to defend someone else. Every single catch except one in these highlights was because they forced Deion to switch. Deion was such a beast. Even the greatest WR to ever walk the planet had extreme difficulty getting open against Deion.

    @timryder3444@timryder34445 жыл бұрын
    • Tim, what people fail to realize when looking at these great WR vs CB contests is the constant, which happens to be the QB. Jerry Rice physically BEAT Deion on the play from 2:00 - 2:07, but as John Madden correctly pointed out, the QB threw the ball too late. Madden also correctly pointed out this same problem at the 4:57 - 5:10 marks of the video, where Rice beat Deion, but much to Rice's chagrin, Elvis Grbac didn't throw the ball on time. In addition to this, Rice got the best of Deion when Deion was on the Atlanta Falcons and they met at least twice per season as division rivals.

      @AScentOfPhoenix@AScentOfPhoenix5 жыл бұрын
    • @@AScentOfPhoenix Sanders almost never covered Rice in any of their matchups; he covered Taylor 95% of the time. And at 4:57 on, Rice wasn't open. Sanders would have easily run down any throw, as he frequently did. Sanders deliberately played trail coverage and gave receivers the illusion they were open and then rapidly recovered.

      @puckutubesux7356@puckutubesux73565 жыл бұрын
    • They didn't have to "force" them to do anything. Sanders almost never covered Rice in any of their matchups; he was on Taylor 95% of the time when Sanders played for the Falcons. Sanders never left his RCB spot in his Falcons days (covering the split end). That's why Rice had such great games against the Falcons; he was going against the likes of Charles Dimry and Tim McKyer while Taylor was battling it out with Deion.

Elvis Grbac, back-up QB for the 49ers in 1995, is no where near Steve Young or Joe Montana's league, and you could see Jerry's frustration when he managed to get open against Deion, and Grbac couldn't deliver the ball. 3. The 49ers won this game anyway, which is what matters. 4. Jerry is THE GOAT at WR (period) and Deion in the BEST cover corner to ever play, with crazy speed and quickness. His tackling left something to be desired, however. Anyway, go back and watch some of their matches when Deion played for the Falcons, as they were in the same division as the Niners back the. • Jerry Rice is one the Greats...partly because the Rules of the Game changed. In the days of "when the ball is snapped you can hit anybody" Jerry would not have had the long career that he had. Back in the day Jack Tatum, George Atkinson, or those mad dogs who played for the Steelers, the old Packers would have creamed him so many times that Concussions would have caused him to hang it up. Deion is one of the All Time Best Cover men. I'll give him that. However, what's NEVER TALKED ABOUT WITH DEION is "He never tackled anybody". He always had a way of avoiding the run plays when they came to his side of the field; somehow being out of position to make the hit, but if close enough once one of his teammates was making the tackle he would then join in...but tackling by himself? like looking for the Tooth Fairy.

    • Jerry Rice was 6'2" 210. Walsh was one of the first guys who liked playing big, physical receivers. In Tatum's era most of the WR were 5'9" 170 lbs. Tatum was 5'10" maaaaybe 200 lbs? Atkinson was smaller than that. Jerry Rice in the Super Bowl ran over Steve Atwater (6'3" 220 lbs.) on his way to the endzone. So...I disagree. I think Rice would've been fine playing in the earlier era.

    • @@miguellorenzo3609 that’s not the reason he was great though. If it were, John Taylor and JJ Stokes would have been great too. Rice proved it regardless of which QB was playing. In addition, being a HOF QB isn’t just about stats. Guys like Brees, Manning and Brady threw more TDs than Montana and Young combined

  • I'll tell you what this generation of players from the mid 80s to the mid-90s would totally dominate today's generation bar none. Ronnie Lott would have took Brady out by halftime and the greatest quarterback of all time Joe Montana and Jerry Rice the best receiver of all time quite simply is the best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be as Brett Hart would say! don't forget about bo or Barry or that bears 85 defense. yup....best generation ever.
