Female Goshawk makes way for Common Buzzard, buzzes it a few times then the Buzzard gets thumped.
The trail camera catches the moment that a female Goshawk lost patience with this Buzzard. incredibly the buzzard was back stealing food again the next day.

  • A Buzzard vs Goshawk is a very even match. The Buzzard is a tougher bird but the Goshawk is quicker.

  • Goshaws are stealth hunters. They take their time to observe their prey and strike at the best unexpected moment. The buzzard was very likely attacked from behind, so there was no long fight.

  • Buzzard was surelly desperate to get bite of that kill. Wild birds dont usually go so fat that there is claw to claw ineraction. It surely had really bad feather condition, but we can only guess how long "therm" that was

    • Hi. All I can tell you is that after viewing the contents of the memory card I thought perhaps the Goshawk killed the buzzard, so I went back a few days later and could not find a buzzard carcase. When I got back to view the most recent memory card the same buzzard had been back stealing bait the following afternoon.

    • After I looked at the card that was in the trail camera and saw what had happened I returned to the site the next day to see if the buzzard had been killed and taken down the hillside a bit. I found no sign of it except a few feathers. I changed the card again and when I looked at the contents I was quite amazed to find that the buzzard with the ragged tail was back again less than 24 hours later feeding on the bait again.

    • @@ronniegraham6334 They are both Hawks. But after googling I see that it's a language issue. As some types of hawks are called buzzards in some parts of the world. I guess what you're calling a buzzard would be called a red-tailed hawk here in Alabama. The first bird is a goshawk. My apologies......

  • What happened to that Buzzard's tail, usually wild raptors don't have feather problems? These videos aren't staged, are they?

    @oldschoolhawking8191@oldschoolhawking8191 Жыл бұрын
    • How exactly do you think this was staged?

      @ronniegraham6334@ronniegraham6334 Жыл бұрын
    • @@ronniegraham6334 Okay, by your reaction I'm assuming it's it wasn't staged. The reason I asked, was because there's so many videos, especially from third world countries, that use captive raptors portraying wild birds. You probably saw some of those videos. As I mentioned, your video shows a wild Buzzard that had a completely destroyed tail, usually caused by being in a wire cage. I was just curious about that.

    • @@oldschoolhawking8191 that bird is a juvenile, their first set of feathers can get very tattered before they eventually molt into their first set of adult feathers. The pale eye, lighter brown overall, pale fringes to the feathers and lack of an black band running along the wing edge and tail end indicates juvenile plumage common buzzard.

    @jimhanty8149@jimhanty8149Ай бұрын

    • OK . So some dummy explorer came over to USA and started naming birds that he didn't know anything about. So you've ended up with hawks that are buzzards. Don't blame me. Let's go Latin, it's hardly a new language. Buteo Buteo = buzzard Accipiter Gentilis = Goshawk These are the birds in the video.
