We're sure you are as frustrated at reading these rescue stories, as we are at writing them😒.
We attended yet another fox cub in netting last week😔.
This time, the young cub nicknamed "Harry", had not only got a front leg and a back leg entangled, but he'd also managed to get the coarse netting wrapped tightly around his muzzle, preventing him from even being able to close his mouth.
Being a hot day, the cub was clearly in a lot of distress, and we had to work quickly to get him untangled, and cooled down.
Once all the netting was removed, the impact of it became quickly evident through his extremely swollen muzzle😣.
Once back at the centre, Harry was anaesthetised, to not only help reduce his stress, but to ensure we could give him a full examination, including any internal damage to his face.
Incredibly, and much to our surprise, he had managed to avoid any serious breaks and, with a little help from our vet team, was able to make a full recovery!

Thank you so much for all you doGreetings from the Czech Republic👋
So glad this fox was able to recover and be released, thank you for saving his life!
@@homie3461I think Lawrie can handle it on his own, moreover, it would only have caused more stress for the animal if there were more people around him. And i'm sure that if it had really been necessary, he would have received help.
Thank you for all you do. It was a pleasure meeting you last weekend, we had a great day supporting you guys. You all really are real life angels. I will be signing up to volunteer as I’m a huge animal lover. Watch out for my name when you see I’ve signed up 🙏 would be a honour to help save/rescue the wildlife 🤍🙏 you all don’t get enough credit for what you all do. I wish I had all the money in the world to gift to wildlife Aid, an incredible charity that needs more recognition. Without you a lot of animals would sadly suffer in terrible pain :( like this poor fox would have. He looks lifeless when you found him :( such a shame people STILL are using these nets!! They should be banned and use smaller squared ones where animals can’t actually get wrapped/ stuck in them
And I’ve subbed 🙏🤍
Fox looked resigned to dying, then a miracle happened. Heartwarming, thank you.
Don't know about resigned, but it looked like he had used alot of energy trying to escape.
There was no miracle 🤷♂️. Someone seen an animal suffering and called the people who could help. It's not a miracle to care and try to get it help, it should be basic to do that.
A Lawrie happened
@@patcatlab5832God sent nobody. Humans saved it. I'm going for brain surgery tomorrow morning. Humans will be the ones doing that too. If me or the fox die, is it God doing that too? Or do you credit only the good to God?
@TheycallmeMrWonka it was a miracle because someone could've NOT seen him in time.
That poor fox. 😢 I don't even want to think about how long the little one had been caught in that state, but I doubt it would made it until evening, by the looks of it. I hope everyone at the school, received a proper lecture from you about wildlife and football netting. It is frightening how much that message can be repeated, yet it continues to happen... Thank you for giving this little one a second chance. 🦊
At night they are doing all sorts of crazy things, - running, fighting, singing, playing, stealing things 😆😆😆❤❤❤
My friend had football net when we were young. But instead of net, they had made net out of wood. And it was only for kids. Not for adults. Ball bounces pretty back from those wooden parts, but i think it was fine back in days.
I'm currently sorting out my back garden with raised beds so I can grow my own veg and fruit bushes next year. Netting will NOT be used. If I lose a few berries to the birds and local wildlife, then that's fine. I would hate to think I could cause suffering to an innocent animal.
Luckily, the school has agreed to remove all nets moving forward :)

what a stupid comment religious people makes me sick
Well said Blue; I feel exactly the same way. Urban foxes have so many challenges to their survival; it’s heartwarming to know that the miracle workers at Wildlife Aid are ready to step in when necessary. These sweet animals need all the help they can get.
Whatever.

Śliczny lisek. Dobrze że istnieją prawdziwi wspaniali ludzie którzy zwrócili wolność ubezwolnionemu lisowi.😪😭💚💙💜
I'm so happy he has been rescued
It always amazes me how the animals never panic when Lawrie is tending to them. He has a real gift.
I feel like this guy didn't have the strength left to panic.
muito lindo ver os animais livres para correr e que nosso criador abençoe sempre vocês que salva a vida deles ❤🙏👍🇧🇷

This is a great representation of the lack of prevention, care and respect we have for the species that we share the world with and for the environment that we share. Simply lifting the nets 45cm from the ground when not in use, would protect many wild animals.
Мои золотые, огромное вам спасибо за помощь животных!!! Целую ваши руки ❤️👍❤️Спасибо ❤️🙏👍

OMG, poor young fox !! luckily nothing was broken and he could go back to the wild quickly !! Thanks 😢🙏🦊🍀
Hope the school was informed about the netting. Maybe a 'class' could be given by someone from your center [to all the schools in the area] to help prevent further occurrences [at home too]. Great job done by your team as always.
Luckily, the school has agreed to remove all nets moving forward :)

What a FANTASTIC recovery!!! Seeing this poor baby in such a state brought me to tears... 💔 The heat certainly makes this sort of call-out a lot more time-sensitive... A HUGE well done to Lawrie and the vet team - you're all stars 💜🤗 xXx

He sure was in a poorly way when Lawrie came to his rescue. The little fox kiddo had plenty of luck this time, and got such a good care from you guys. I couldn't do what you do, which is why I'm glad I can donate a bit every now and then.
If the little fox had plenty of luck... Wouldn't have gotten into netting.

Makes me wonder how long the fox was there, if that was me I'd have at least tried to loosen the wires a bit to stop discomfort like that. I wouldn't be able to wait that long seeing him in pain. Thanks for doing what you guys do best and keep up the good work x

Love them little wild foxes, see them every night in York , walking my dog. Thanks to everyone who cares for them. ❤
Just in the nick of time in flys Lawrie to the rescue. Well done Lawrie but without the full team at WAF these poor animals wouldn't stand a chance. Thank you Simon and every single member of staff and volunteers. Unfortunately we humans have a lot to answer for. ❤
You guys are amazing! It breaks my heart that we don't have anything here in Sweden like Wildlife Aid. We only have for hedgehogs, squirrels and birds. I don't even know if it is legal to take care of bigger wildlife here. With this said, we don't have as much "city foxes" or what you want to call them, here in Sweden. If I had the money and/or the knowledge it would be a dream to start a wildlife rescue.
Where I am in Canada there's a bird sanctuary, where I once brought a poor pigeon that I found that was going in circles trying to fly. They nursed it for weeks and sent me updates with pics, but it eventually had to be put down. But the other day I found a cottontail rabbit in my back garden dragging its back legs behind it, unable to climb up a slight incline. It already had flies swarming its back end. I didn't know what to do because there's no Wildlife Aid, but I googled it and there's a city service where they come and take injured wild animals to a vet (probably mostly for euthanasia, as i doubt they spend money trying to save them). I called them and they came quickly, but it was so sad. It was a baby, and it had been visiting my garden for the last couple weeks, and i was hoping it would dig a burrow and move in. I felt like I betrayed the bunny because it seemed to trust me and would let me give it apples and lettuce while it was in my garden waiting for the wildlife officer. And its front end seemed happy and unconcerned, which was why I was pretty sure it was paralyzed because it didn't seem to be in any pain. I'm still sad and keep looking out the door for baby bunny.
im from sweden too! i once came across a deer when i was walking through a small graveyard. this graveyard is in the middle of a very big city, and the busiest street in the city run adjacent to it. this was several kilometers, easily a 40 minute drive, to any proper forested areas to speak of. i was scared it might run into traffic. not a single organization could help. eventually i called the police. all they asked was if the animal was injured, in which case, they would put it down. it was not, so they did nothing. it must have found its way back to where it came from somehow, because i never saw it again. but it was such a shock that nobody would lift a finger to a traffic hazard, until there had been an actual accident.
Seeing the little fox panting and being so scared is heartbreaking. Thank you for your usual efficient and kind rescue - amazing!
Lawrie, what an incredible job you did helping that poor little baby Fox "Harry" get untangled! All of you @ Wildlife Aid are incredible & I so enjoy watching these rescues! Thanks so much everyone!! ❤
