We've seen foxes stuck in everything from garden fences to car tyres, but this particular patient (filmed for Wildlife SOS series 9) left us scratching our heads a little!
He was rushed into the centre after the RSPCA found him with his whole head stuck in a metal pipe. Despite efforts, Simon and the team were unable to dislodge him with the plastic funnel technique, so it was time to break out the power tools...

Hi guys, for those of you worried about the angle grinding, yes it was a grinding disc, but we had no cutting disks available and no time to try to go out and buy one! This was filmed several years ago now and we have since made sure our tool supplies are ready in case something like this should happen again :)
Don't worry. At least the fox is safe 😊
No protective gloves or goggles with the angle grinder. Come on people, you should know better..
@@adulthumanfemale8666 Respirators would help too, cast iron dust is very abrasive. Also, hearing protection.
@@spankeyfish Where does cast iron dust come out of aluminium ?
@@adulthumanfemale8666 Idiot, they used a piece of wood and wet towels - what more do you want ;)
That was so scary to watch. I am so happy the fox has recovered and has got back home again. Well done Simon and the team.
Scary! Bet your glad ur not a chicken!
that slip definitely (in a metaphorical sense) gave me a heart attack and shaved anywhere from a few years to a decade or two
The scariest part was that angle grinder use. Never cut in the direction of the wheel, thats how he almost cut the fox.
I was cringing the whole time Great job Thanks for helping animals in distress
Sure you never haven't see dying from hunger Sudan children.... Fucking foxes.....
Love it when he ran off at the end and gave one last glimpse round to his angels :)
He realised he was born under the lucky star
Probably making sure the crazies are not following ^^
It's such a classic thing with foxes. Unless it's those who dart right into the underbrush and disappear, those who do run down a path or a long distance across a field, tend to give one last look, some even stopping and turning to give a long last look, like a sign of gratitude. Always nice to see. 🤗
@@DanielRenardAnimation After all that that poor fox had gone through, is it really gratitude?
Wild animals invariably do this when released unexpectedly, to check they are not being followed.
WOW ! If I ever get my head stuck in a pipe I want them to call Wildlife Aid ! Bravo !!
Don't get your head stuck in a pipe.... even if there was food on the other side!
it better be the best food you ever had if you get your head stuck lol
Wot sort of pipe could you get your head stuck inn lol
we won't call wildlife aid we'll just get an angle Grinder from the shed, Sedate you and let you wake up the next morning with a tattoo that wasn't there the day before ...............All Good LOL
If only I had them the last 2 times this happened to me...why is food always on the other side of small holes?
I can't even imagine the stress level of that fox, being stuck like that, in a cage and surrounded by humans. And when you started cutting that piece of metal, this time it was me who was so stressed! And when the disc grinder slipped, I think my heart missed a beat. After so much emotion, I'm not ashamed to say that the release had my eyes a bit wet... ^^ Seriously, you're a team of real life super-heroes.
I had exactly the same reaction. The team are just fabulous.
The team esp. Simon was pretty stressed as well. Well done.
I had my hand over my heart the whole time! God bless you guys!
You just described my dentist visits.
If it got it it can get out...it’s a Fox, did you treat for mange & worms b4 release?
Absolute heroes all of you, I’m so glad that beautiful Fox is well and back where it belongs. Well done ! 🦊🦊🦊🦊❤️❤️👍👍
I hope there's a special place in heaven for you guys !!
Of course there is!

there is it has angle grinders there :P
there ALWAYS is!!

Great job. Poor fox.
I thought for a second Simon was gonna lose his thumb. Goodness! Well done, you all!

Well done!! Wonderful team work! So pleased this beautiful fox survived! 😊👍🙏😊
That is amazing!!!! Poor fluffbutt!!!! Glad they helped him!!!
Wow, that was stressful to watch & can't imagine how scared you were using the angle grinder Simon. Thank you to all of you for saving & releasing this beautiful boy. ❤️🦊❤️🦊❤️
OMG!!! 😢 I was very much stressed out for this poor little baby fox. When released by the rescuers it had looked back at the team as if thanking them for saving his life. I am relieved that he was saved. May God bless the team.❤
Oh my god. That was SO stressful to watch. You people do some amazing work.
Oooh the poor darling. Bless you all for the work you do. xx

God bless these people, who help animals ....
This gives new meaning to the concept of "precision surgical instrument." Amazing how many treacherous predicaments foxes can get themselves into --- Wildlife Aid is to be commended for their efforts in preserving the health and life of all creatures great and small.
There's a strange overlap between medical instruments and carpentry.
Should I book myself in for a check up ? They surely can't be any worse than the NHS ?
@@brittanybecker170 Well, the chainsaw was created as a medical tool.
That reminds me of a joke name that doctors and surgeons use for power tools when they have to use one to get something off of or out of a person, they call them something like "unconventional surgical implements".
Simon this was genuinely heart opening and heartwarming to see. If you ever find yourself in a similar situation you could consider asking the fire department for help. They have a device called the jaws of life or something similar that was designed to safely rescue people out of car wrecks. Thank you all for your continued work 😁❤ one of only a handful of channels that gives me hope, and makes me proud to be human. Thank you guys for giving people like me hope in our species, and for all the animals whom you saved from the claws of certain death. Your work is quite literally invaluable.
The Fire Brigade's cutting jaws probably wouldn't fit into the gap between the fox's neck, their equipment is not designed to operate in very small gaps like that. Anyway they had the pipe off in a few minutes well before any possible help from the Emergency Services could materialise.
FS cutters aren't delicate enough for that. Circular saw / angle grinder was a good choice of tool.
dere bro if you waste the fire services time on a Fox in a pipe, your clueless.
@@millomweb : Yeah, the angle grinder was the exact right tool for the job.
@@therickpound well I'll think that when your life is in danger and hope someone says the same shit.
It was so scary to watch the cutting process... Thank you for all the hard work! :-)
Congratulations!!! 👏👏👏
Blooming heck!! I think I held my breath for the whole thing. How scary for all being involved😥 Well done you guys. The little fox deserves a full on British breakfast, black pudding and tomatoes included!! You guys are fantastic
Tomatoes, and many plants from the nightshade family, are toxic to most animals and some people believe they cause inflammation in humans. It could only safely eat the eggs, bacon and maybe the toast. Depends.
Heads up , the noise is half the drama , mute it, it will be easier to watch, : )
I gasped when the power tool slipped. 😲😲 That was a hard one! Well done. Love you Simon.
this is easly my favourite wildlife rescue channel on youtube.
Is there a thing like Fox lottery? That fox should participate, seeing his luck.
My god that was stressful! You did an amazing job cutting that off him without causing any damage. My heart did skip a beat when the grinder slipped though. It was very cute when he looked back at you after the release.
Какие вы - Замечательные .Смотрела ваши передачи много лет назад ,уже вырос старший внук ,опять смотрю с удовольствием и ,радуюсь вашим успехам !!! БРАВО !!!
The vet was so sweet the way she was really nervous about the cutting operation.
Too nervous, probably argued for euthanasia, too. Get a small diameter cutting disc, maybe with a water jet, too.
Well done to all. Think I held my breath for a bit there.
Great job. Congratulations.
Oh my goodness, I was basically reacting just like the vet. Thank goodness that it did just snap once you guys put pressure on the cut you guys managed to create. Silly sausage, no more sticking your head into weird tubes! You guys are amazing 💖
Thank you for rescue all foxs , Good Luck anytime for you all !
Many thanks to the doctors for the rescued fox and God bless them.
Great job, thank you. Greetings from Germany

I love the way he took off like a rocket. So fast, you know he was in good shape and not injured.
OMG! God Bless You all. I love this fox thanks to saving him.
5:09 Probably the first time in a quite a while I've been this shocked. Just as I was thinking that those angle grinders are no joke. Been using those a lot and you don't want to take those lightly.
Definitely not i was looking at him doing it with 1 hand and i was like.... if he even catches one bit of steel the wrong way, that things gonna kick i was like.... why aren't you using 2 hands and going in ever so slowly all he has to do it clip the fur and a large junk of the coat comes off along with a tonne of skin
Yeah i also cringed when he used that grinder He is supposed to hold it with both hands, start at the front of the metal and work down and backwards, use non flammable gloves and eye protection !
yup, that scared me, my shriek caused my family reaction: -what's happened? -nothing, I'm just watching something on yt
@@Redstripe921 who cares this video is years old y'all got no lives coming on here going on about something from years ago that CLEARLY WORKED. move the fuck on already jeez
You're all amazing! I'm not surprised Wildlife Aid pulled through and rescued him. The fox probably was equally confused as he was grateful. Simon, I'm sending you and your team a gift basket.
I've seen many strange things in my life as a carer and on your channel, but that had me holding my breath ! Great job ! Beautiful release ! Hugs to the whole team !

Simon, you might consider buying cutting discs for that angle grinder in case something like this happens again. I've seen low-spark alternatives that were about 1 mm thick - would have been through that tube in a third of the time, if not even quicker. Also, please please please, keep both hands on the grinder and try to find a posture to the side and "behind"! That way you'll have much more control over it when it decides to try to run off on you.
The pinned comment addresses this :)
i thought the very same thing BOTH HANDS AT ALL TIMES if it kicks, that fox could be fucked
You guys are miracle workers to the wild!! Blessings from US!!

Simon has really steady hands and nerves of steel!
6:14 Interesting shot of a fox mouth from the inside. I've never seen it like that before.
looks just like a dog's mouth :)
Thank goodness 😄
@@BothHands1 I don't have a dog, so I can't compare it, but I think you're right. I am generally curious and I had never seen a fox mouth from inside. This is purely scientific without any positive or negative judgement.

So good to see everyone is so invested in the fox's well being.

Hi, couple of things here, you should have been wearing decent eye protection, normal glasses are not for angle grinder use as they are not suitable for high speed impacts, and sparks and debris can find their way around and into your eye, I know because I have had it happen. That disc you were using was a grinding disc, a thin cutting disc would have been much better and quicker, less heat and easier to control, you should have also been wearing gloves, as you were very close to a potential kickback there and your hand would not stand a chance. A better tool to look into would be an oscillating multi-tool with an appropriate blade, they are similar to the tools used by fracture clinics to remove casts, they are much safer in close proximity to live flesh, very easy to control and are much safer for the operator. I know the temptation is to 'get on and help' the animal, but you don't want to become a casualty yourself, a cut from an angle grinder hurts like hell and debris in the eyes is no joke either, stay safe.
You a welder to cus i came down here just to say that.
@@Geoffthespider Welder, fabricator, mechanic and agri engineer.
As someone who works in maintenance in a large manufacturing plant, grinders are an everyday part of life and I have to agree with this, I had a very close call with kickback and a tyvek suit saved me from a serous injury. I now where leather gloves and a full face shield when using any sort of grinder. Please be more careful next time, grinders are extremely dangerous if not handled properly.
The thing is, even with all the mentioned personal protective equipment, kickback could still cause serious injuries to the fox. In my opinion a good quality dremel + a cutting disc might be better for a delicate application like this... this model I just googled seems powerful enough to drill through 1/8" steel, but maybe situations like these don't happen often enough to justify the investment kzhead.info/sun/iMWcY5h7eHiLgIE/bejne.html
While you lot were poncing about with the correct tool for the job and the correct disc and your precious ppe the fox would be a long time dead. is it beyond the scope of your imagination to realise that sometimes in life people do the best they can with what falls to hand? Just respect the fact they got the result and stop being such know-it-alls
Fantastic Simon and staff a tense time for all! Glad you were able to help this beautiful creature -thank you for being there.
Awesome teamwork. Bravo!
good people ...thank you so much ..god bless for you and team
Great job, good thinking. You needed to act quickly using what you had, great outcome. Restores faith in human nature when people care enough to help.
👏👏👏👏well done
Phew! When the grinder slipped I felt weak! Good recovery and wonderful job freeing the fox.
God bless you baby and the rescuers
Oh My G! Yes, now that was a heart stopper! Great job once again you guys!!!! Especially Simon! I've done plenty of metalwork and welding in my time. So I have some safety advice to adhere to when using any hand held "spinning disc" type cutter. Observe the spin direction of the disc and think about the direction that it will pull when in touch with the material to be cut. Then, if it's possible, which it would have been in this case, angle the main weight of the machine backwards, away from the pull that the disc gives. This makes it more likely to jump up, and not forwards so much, when the disc does snatch like it did. And during any cut "through" the material, move the grinder back and forth a little, this generally widens the area of the cut a bit, helping to prevent the disc snatching as much as possible. Angle grinders are very powerful when the disc is spinning at maximum speed, due to the momentum of the motor and disc combined. It's why they work and it's how they work.
My goodness well done! And good catch about the sparks and oxygen Simon, I wouldn't have thought about that and that could have been bad! It saddens me though that even without intending it, just by creating new 'unnatural' things we endanger wildlife. 😞
So what direction is your life taking now?
Tin snips or bolt cutter immediately come to mind as their blade's backs aren't sharp and would 'not be much of a risk. saw a new tool on the internet called a "nibbler". It's electrically powered metal snips that take small "bites" of thin metal sheeting. I think the company should donate one of these to Wildlife Aid. Thank you to the helpers - these are inspiring videos and should be seen by young people. Thank you, wonderful people!
Well done team....another happy fox back home....🦊🐾🐾💞
