You fight an AI and over time it learns your habits and abilities, allowing you to see that you either mash one move too much or you flowchart super easily. The cool thing about it is that you can also fight other peoples Ghosts, even top level players. Its a really cool and neat mechanic to sort of train yourself.

  • IMO the solution for Siege is a sequel, and that was obvious years ago. Old engine, weak anticheat, and a meta made up of dozens of layers of bandaids. The game needs a complete technical and gameplay overhaul. As long as Ubisoft doesn't pull a Overwatch 2, a sequel is a best option imo.

    • The engine is fine but I agree. There's just stuff at a fundamental level that does not work well and I believe there's an enourmous feature creep that they can't remove now cause players spent money on ops etc. A sequel focusing on the strengths of the game would be ideal. That being said, I don't trust Ubisoft to make a proper competitive game. Especially now, unless there's some changes on how the studio works, or at least siege's department.

Now with Year 9 over the horizon and 2,000+ hours under my belt, and not many other multiplayer games that I play, Siege will always be my go-to. I have a ton of fun with my friends in ranked and I have yet to encounter a single (blatant) cheater in any of my games. • It’s similar concept as to when electricity companies monopolize the business and overcharge because they can. There is NO competitor so they can take their sweet time doing whatever. Dead by Daylight suffers this exact same problem as well. No competition leads to laziness but like what else are you going to go to.

  • I got into this game back in 2019, im still playing it, but i agree that standard is the way to go. Nothing else on the market feels quite the same as Siege, it has just the right blend of mechanics. It definitely seems like ghost recon has replaced R6 as Ubisofts single player story based game, and Siege is the purely multiplayer experience. I almost wish the crossovers would go both ways. A Siege 2 could lean more into the shared universe that Ubi has built up to this point.

But it also has a ton of flaws, cheaters, monitisation issues and awkward balancing. I'd say its worth playing, but jot worth properly investing. Honestly I really want them to make a successor, with all the information and data they've gathered over the years, they'd have the ability to make a phenomenal game. Without the near decade of technical debt.

  • I have no doubt that AI will be expanded in games like Siege to provide a significant challenge to players of all skill, even champions. I'm just not sure it would be all that great at helping players improve. In chess for instance, you can train against AI bots that are better than any human player in the world. But because these bots play so optimally, you yourself also have to play as optimally as possible to stand a chance. You can't use any creativity, or take any unnecessary risks. It promotes a static, boring, defensive playstyle so much that chess expects actually recommend new players to stay away from bots entirely because they stunt your growth. I feel like the same thing would happen in Rainbow but I guess we'll see. Playing other humans will always be the best way to improve your game.

Honestly, if I could play all maps with the new bot system, I would. It’s really barebones right now, but I imagine that they would be updated. It also helps preserve the game, having the bots act like players even if the servers go down (all multiplayer games will eventually have servers go down, no exceptions).

  • I recently swapped to siege after they stopped catering to high level overwatch. I dedicated 6 years of my life to that game pushing to play pro and then they completely changed the format deleting what I played. Both overwatch and siege share some similar problems but siege does not alienate the playerbase like overwatch has and continues to do. Siege ranked has it's own problems but at least the game is fun. They tried to completely rework overwatch to 5v5 and failed all while attempting to do some shit nobody asked for. I probably hold a grudge but it's so ungodly frustrating watching that game get demolishing where years ago I had a voice as a top 100 player and now they don't give a rats ass. Siege has been great. At least I have fun.

    @RealSkaiOW@RealSkaiOW3 ай бұрын
    • No offense but if you played an fps for 6y tryharding and didn't go pro especially ow where competition is lower you will never be at that level in any fps. It has nothing to do with the 5v5 rework, even tho I agree it sucks. What I mean is, face reality, don't waste your time on going pro, or at least dont compromise other plans. A lot of ppl do that, and play for years before realizing it. 6years is already a massive number. Most pros for reference reach pro level within a year or two, and top 100 within weeks. Also, you never had a voice. As an older blizz gm, I have never heard of you, and they aren't actively looking at high ranked ppl. They never did, and other games work similarly. Im not sure where the misconceptions came from that players have an individual voice. Studios read discussions on forums, reddit, do playtests, surveys and polls, etc Look at the metrics to validate those opinions and then act on it if need be. Its more about the general pov and metrics.

      @robinv1485@robinv14852 ай бұрын
    • @robinv1485 Your conception of pros being top 100 in weeks shows the disconnect between gms and players. Many start out the same as others in gold but dedicated time to it. You also don't know who I am because I don't have a social media presence. That's just how that works lol? I'd put money down you don't know half the t2 players that played the game that you apparently were a gm for. Almost no professional player is top 100 from weeks of starting. A current player hitting t100 weeks after a season starts sure. I do that every season. But not a brand new player playing. That's complete asinine. How can you even say competition is lower? The actual scene is in fucking shambles because of blizzard but the players are not bad. Many were able to leave and find success in other games? You COULDNT move forward or anything in the path to pro. It's better now with OWCS but I cannot be asked with how little of a fuck is given and the damage the league did. Playing professional is also about scouting. Bunch of players absolutely do not fall under a year or two. I've been playing with infekted on ladder for fucking years and his success was not within 1-2 years. He dedicated his heart and soul into this game over a much longer period of time and made it. Reading general metrics is *why* that game died. The general public does not know nor understand why something feels bad and how to fix it. They just know something feels bad. I'm not saying things don't need to be adjusted for lower elo, but we do not need to be listening to those suggestions and changing that. Some things are going to be strong in the lower ranks without a real way to fix it. League has the same thing and they already learned there's not much you can do about it. In the nicest way possible, saying that 5v5 didn't impact offtank players is the most moronic thing I have ever heard. Our role got removed. Deleted. The characters are unusable at a high level for more than a week at time when they overbuff them. Mine and other offtank players had to pick our asses up and start FROM SCRATCH how to play monkey as an example. There were memes on overwatch Twitter about it everywhere at the time because how universally awful we all were at the character. I am not saying that I as an individual should have a voice. However, when an extremely large collective are saying the exact same things nothing is done. Why do *you* think there's a mass opinion that you guys don't listen and make changes that hurt the player dev relationship? People have lost trust and have disdain because it's not just one inidivual or a few people. It's the masses saying something is a bad idea and it's DONE ANYWAYS. Prime example is back in 2021 or 2022? giving Cree 225 hp and roll in air was proposed and EVERYONE said no it was too strong. Added it anyways and bro held the game hostage until ow2 released. So yeah, I don't really care if I as an individual don't have a voice. That's implied and I already knew that. The issue is when the "general opinion" that you claim to go off of is disregarded. Also pushing pro isn't a skill thing to many anymore. It's a will to do it. There's a reason many of the league teams hired therapists and many leave fast. Also I've been in vet school during all of this while maintaining being top 500. I was here to discuss the state of the game and why it sucks. Not my backup plans for my life. If you are a gm I seriously hope the entire dev team doesn't look at high ranked players or your pros as 2 week to top 100 superstars. Everyone there spent massive amounts of time and energy to get there and are not just naturally talented. Natural talent will only get you so far. I have naturally good aim but I still had to sit down and dedicate to get where I was. The game isn't like valorant or siege. I can boot those up and shit on the entire lobby with instant kills. Overwatch doesn't have that. The game is harder and if you don't learn it you get gatekeep by those who do know it. Go look at shroud. He got stuck diamond playing My feelings to the dev team were shattered when they turned the game into something I did not buy or play for 6 years and many others have the same sentiment. The playerbase got split in half and nobody is happy. That's the result of team 4 and the game is forever going to be split in half with no recovering. I will also leave you with the fact that we had consisent balance patches with high rank input for about a year in 2020 and the game was FUN and everything was VIABLE. We threw that away because this new team is having to learn the same lessons the old team did. Players are losing patience.

      @RealSkaiOW@RealSkaiOW2 ай бұрын
    • Nah, the disconnect is on the players, those are statistics mate. Actual numbers, this isn't an opinion, most pro's are pro's within two years. Even in well established games, look at Street Fighter, Starcraft, CS, well established games that you'd think you would need to work years to get to those levels. Pros don't, Infiltration won EVO in his second year, never played fgs before. Starcraft has ppl playing for 20 years (me included) and then comes some kid out of nowhere that just gets the game and feels natural, and he beats everyone. CS? Donk is the most famous active player nowadays. Took him a year to get to that level, and then 2 years to be the most popular player in the world. Not reading all of it. Keep trying to go pro then. I only wrote it because 99% of the players fall into that trap and take a long time realizing they have no talent, it was a cautionary comment. And even if you do have talent, you might not have other qualities such as being a good teammate which can and does screw up careers. I dislike the word talent, because I really believe that with enough work you can get there, and that applies to my main area which is art. But does not apply to gaming, there's people with predispositions for gaming. What's even weirder is these players can switch genres, I've seen league players try CS, SC2 or Street Fighter and get at really high levels really fast. They just learn extremely fast, they have the right mentality, they have the reflexes, the skillset necessary to go pro. You worked 6 years and you didn't go pro, you never will, that's just it. There's no pro in any game where that was the case, go find a single one. (theres ppl that play casually tho)@@RealSkaiOW

    • Show me the statistics if you're going to claim them. I haven't played in a team setting in over 2 years. I am also high rank in every other game I have played what a surprise. It's about dedicating time and actually putting your mind into learning it. That does not change the fact that the high ranking players have been around for a long time. I can also name plenty of league professionals who started in bronze and climbed up. Your arguement has flaws and is actually not backed up by statistics. I am involved in these circles and speak to these players. I absolutely know more than you regarding length of playtime and how long they've been there and where they started. Don't bother responding if you aren't going to read what a typed. Waste of time. Goodluck with your art stuff but idgaf if you are a blizzard gm or not. • They are public, go to liquipedia mate. That's what I told you to do, find me a player that took 6 years to go pro while try harding in their game. It's unheard of. There's a big difference between being high ranked and pro level. Even in CS being a top player in Faceit, does not mean you can go pro, just means you're extremely good at the game. I'm also not an artist per say, that's an hobby, but thanks, I wanted to get back on it tbh as it's something I do enjoy ^^' Lastly I do give a fck about it, there's a reason why I chose that job despite not being my main area, I liked community management for esports. Always did since UT99 days. And something that hasn't changed in 20+ years, is that you can see people that can go pro very early on, it's a literal job to seek out those people. That's why 6 years is too much, someone would approach you and offer up a contract as long as you're doing scrims, and if you needed fundies there's tons of training programs they'd put you in. And that's the cautionary tale I mentioned at first. Doesn't help that you're also using a pro's name (The reason I'm assuming you're not him is cause he's already a pro, but if you are: hi! long time, it's falcie : D ) The whole reason for the comment was that I've seen hundreds of people over these last 20 years waste their lives pursuing something they will never achieve. And that's fine, some people, me included like to push themselves in gaming, if you're having fun, that's not a waste, but I'm strictly speaking of people who let go of other plans to focus solely on esports, the extreme cases, which idk if it's your case or not but can be extremely detrimental. I've witnessed really extreme situations of younger people who left school, cut their family cause they didn't accept the esports career, ended relationships and then ended up without money, a house, and really struggled to get back on their feet. Those are the players I'm talking about, and for each pro there's thousands of those. I'm not sure why this is so difficult to get. It's well known it happens. @@RealSkaiOW

Don’t ever forget this game is overloaded with cheaters on every platform. Don’t ever forget that they refuse to nerf all of these op defenders. Don’t ever forget the original actual siege dev team is all gone, this is a skeleton crew of incompetence. Don’t ever forget this dev team is responsible for this terrible Tik Tok teenie tdm meta. Don’t ever forget there’s basically no communication between the dev team and the player base anymore. Don’t ever forget that they removed cooking nades and thunt. We are nearing the end…

Imagine being able to download let’s say an ssg ghost team that holds aviator and games a specific way on vila and just play against that lol

  • Just make the game more authentic and fun, like it used to be. Better lighting (optional), old map variants for arcade, night maps for quick play and such. I just seek the more gritty feel of the game because it's not just about the gameplay, but also about its design, flare, and identity. I just think that the game has lost its identity over the years.

  • As I did come back to the game recently, I just have the feeling that it doesn’t matter which operator I pick. Ofc playing 5 stack with planned strats is another thing. But in general the gadgets and abilities sometimes feel really useless, just run and gun. On the other hand I dont like the new maps / reworks. For example Oregon and Chalet reworks were great but wtf did they to Consulate? Its just a shitty maze, and the new maps arent better in my opinion. Adding 30 sec to the timer is just necessary because you just dont have time to check every fucking corner.

  • The cheaters ruin it for the competitive side. The spreadsheet balancing ruins it for casuals. as for those who dont think the balance changes or small nerfs to things like the G36 are bad, think of it like this: every other patch note contains some form of nerf, the G36, R4C, F2, SMG 11, so on so forth. This all compounds over time to the point in which everything is overnerfed. Its thier balancing methodology hitting its logical endpoint

Haven't experienced any (blatant) cheaters, but then again, I'm stuck in high silver/low gold, so they've all moved onto higher ranks. I seriously hope that Ubi gets their schiss together as it would be a shame for a game like this to die out due to the sheer ineptitude of the upper management.

  • As a newer player who has competitive experience in every other competitive shooter, if you’re thinking about getting rainbow 6, please don’t. This is my second season and this is the worst managed competitive shooter there is. The game foundation is solid, but good luck getting good games when half of games feature a blatant cheater, the other half are closet cheating, and theres a 50/50 if the servers work. I’m writing this while in a 60min competitive ban because the enemy tachanka could kill every attacker in the first 3 seconds and the ingame clock just stopped working and after 6 minutes of prep phase my party’s games all crashed and we’re abandon sanctioned. Just don’t.

  • Got the game in 2019, still playing till this day with some minor and major breaks. As a player that has over 1400 hours in Siege I think that I can say that there is no other game like it and I still love it despite many flaws. This game is created for pretty specific person: Someone that wants semi-realistic hero shooter with many tactical elements and if you are this kind of person you will probably love it. I know that I am and despite cheaters and other issues I still play it for fun then leave it for like 3 months and then back to it to put around 100 more hours. And for message for people that wants something much more realistic and tactical: Try "Ready or Not" you won't be dissapointed. I love both of these games for different reasons and I encourage you all to try it. EDIT: But yes LGBT stuff is nonsense alongside with new futuristic, unrealistic gadgets, oh and balancing can be bullshit: Ela 2 speed and Smoke gets dmg from his own smokes? FFS man.
