INVISIBLE SWITCHES & SOCKETS using the Hamilton Perception CFX (includes how to fit)

The first outing for origami Gary as we show you how to create these invisible switch & socket outlets using the Hamilton Perception CFX range. These sockets have a special backplate and clear front plate which allows you to insert a matched piece of wallpaper.
The range covers all the usual electrical accessories - sockets, USB sockets, light switches, dimmers and fused spur options.
A great way to create a stunning finish to a high-end interior and stimulate some switchboard decoration ideas.

  • Looks like Hamilton need to provide standard tooling for stamping out the holes, especially if there is a great demand for these.

    • That's not a bad idea ... but a quick diy would may be having a blade bent to shape and then stamped on with a wood base or bit softer material

  • "Plug it in over there" Where? "Over there next to the settee" I can't see a socket. "It's there glaring at you" Well I can't see it "It's a fancy socket that you cover with the wallpaper" Why "Do it blends in" So you can't see it? "Yes" Why? "I don't know, it's fun apparently a Yorkshireman said" Fun, Yorkshireman, that's an oxymoron.

  • These are fantastic! Although I can see a lot of electricians ether adding a premium for putting wallpaper into the socket face plate, or telling the customer to get a decorator to do it. I really like them though.

  • I fitted another make of those sockets . But the back part did not fit on the wall surface .. so I had to space them off with washers to make them flush and secure forvthe decorator. . A right nightmare. .. These ones you have look a lot better to fit 👍👍👍

  • It’s not a new idea . Crabtree had flush , flat toggle light switches in the 40s early 50s that you could just paper behind . Cut a hole just for the toggle then screw the clear plate back on. Not very safe as the toggle was not earthed and the plate could be unscrewed without a tool. I still have one i kept in a drawer

  • On second glance,, it may just be easier to wall paper over a flat profile socket and pierce through with a plug 💁 jury’s out on this one

  • While most electrician's would probably hate this, unfortunately alot of people are wanting something like this. I see alot on social media of people asking how best to hide sockets and switches.

  • Another great video production, as usual - always love watching your videos, boys. However, this is a first for me, in criticising something you've shown, but this particular Hamilton range just goes to show that just because something can be done doesn't mean it should be done! What a pointless waste of time phaffing about cutting out the paper, and what an awful finished affect. But you know what they say about opinions...

    • Yes but how much do you see on social media people asking for ways of hiding sockets and switches etc? It's something that alot of customers that are unfortunately wanting more and more of. Quite surprised It's taken this long for someone to come up with this.

      @crumps84@crumps843 жыл бұрын
    • @@crumps84 fair enough, if that's what you've seen, but I can honestly say that I look in on FB, Insta and YT, everyday day, and haven't seen anyone asking for hidden sockets and switches. But then of course we could be looking in different places.
