  • I'm a Buddhist and my idea is that there was a great man called Jesus Christ. If he didn't exist, this much of faith even after 2000 years after his death wouldn't have existed. Its not known whether present religious teaching is same as it was taught by Jesus. Also one would doubt on Miracles too. But there is a high probability that a great man called Jesus Christ existed someday. May not be archaeologicaly proven, but in general sense, he must have existed. Otherwise he may not be respected even more than 2000 years after his death.

    • I appreciate your thoughts, and I share them. I am agnostic, and I don't believe in the silly idea of Jesus' immaculate conception. I also don't believe in the resurrection of Jesus. But I agree with the majority of experts who are convinced that Jesus existed, that he was crucified by the Romans, and that his life and his teachings impressed many people. There are only a few documents which mention Jesus directly. But there is also some indirect evidence. Paulus - who btw distorted the teachings of Jesus considerably - did not meet Jesus personally, but his and Jesus' life overlapped, and he had personal contact with Jesus' brother James, who had taken up the gauntlet after his brother's death. And while the gospels were written several decades after Jesus' death, people who knew about Jesus and his crucifixion were still alive when the earliest accounts of this life were written. It would not have been possible to concoct the legend of a person who had never existed, from scratch! That is a very unrealistic theory!

  • These people are all wrong. There really was a man named Jesus the Nazarene, who led a nonviolent movement to take over Judaism with his and/or John the Baptist's designed doctrine. The accounts and claims are very true, it's just that the angle of perspective handed back down to us from the time of these events, differs. That is where the contention between these claims and our own understanding stands. There is a nonfiction book called "The Midnight Star that Changed World History" that will explain it all.

From not knowing his history from 13yrs to 33 y.o even that is questionable ie the total missing years to his actual birth date. Then there are accounts of many who did similar things to him like levitation performing miracles , Judaea, Israel - middle East was a hub of activity as Roman records show between India & Rome , Egypt & there was a intermingling of faiths via traders & a few ' magicians' if we took our world of technology & show them of 2000+ years back where humanity is in space they wid probably hail us as gods !

  • The obvious location was the Mt. of Olives (actually a ridge) running north to south on the east side of the Kidron Valley. The northern part of the ridge is the Mt. of Olives and there is a very large cemetery opposite the East Gate (sealed up by Islam). South of that, a bridge connected the ridge with the City of David and was a place where they collected the "head tax" (Golgotha) before entering Jerusalem. That area is presently Muslim controlled Silwan Village. The "city dump" (Gehenna) was still further south. The Romans displayed the crucified outside the city walls as a warning to those entering Jerusalem from the Kidron Valley. There were constant small fires in the city dump and that was probably where the Romans dumped the bodies of those who were crucified.

The results showed that the famous cloth did not date back to the time of Christ’s crucifixion in the first century A.D. In fact, the cloth seemed to have been manufactured sometime between 1260 and 1390 A.D. The team concluded the Shroud was nothing more than a medieval hoax.

Then Ram and Krishna should also be included in history books. Pontiac pilate was a real life historical man,but his name has been used to give historiocity to Jesus who had no proof. There is no proof that pilate issued an order for crucification.

  • For all it's worth, if one were to employ Wisdom of Crowds on today's Israeli Jews, including religious Jerusalemites, I think that the majority would say that a historical Yeshua ben Yosef from Nazareth did exist. He's exactly the kind of many preachers wandering around Judea & Galilee during the worst, most oppressive, period of the Roman occupation, some of whom escaped the barbaric wrath of the Romans by living in remote caves in the Judean Desert, where their Dead Sea Scrolls were found. Furthermore Yeshua is mentioned in the Talmud as having been a student of Rabi Yehoshua ben Perachia, with whom he visited Egypt and had a serious falling out due to a personal misunderstanding on Yeshua's part (that rabbi actually has a street named for him in Jaffa near my house). What of course no-one is likely to accept is the cloud and cuckoo stuff written in Greek by the first non-Jewish Christians in the tens of gospels which were doing the rounds more than a century after Yeshua's death, four of which were chosen 350 years later to become the New Testament. At that time millions of Judean-Galilean Jews had much bigger basic survival problems to deal with rather than taking an interest in yet another Jewish sect led by yet another wannabe messiah who wanted to rescue the Jews from the Romans - as happened in the Jewish victory over the Seleucid Greeks led by King Antiochus Epiphanes 300 years earlier (the Hannuka story) - and no doubt with god's intervention would miraculously happen again with the Romans😢. The INRI sign placed by the Romans over Yeshua's head on the cross therefore makes perfect sense from the Roman point of view - beware Jews, this is what happens when you cause unrest against Rome - while in the NT pro-Roman/Roman whitewash narrative it doesn't. I highly recommend a book called Revolution in Judea - Jesus and the Jewish Resistance by Hyam Maccoby {ISBN 0-8008-6784-X and ISBN 0-8008-6783-1 (pbck.)}

Then after a year when only bones remained the bones were exhumed and placed in a little niche in the wall of an underground ossuary. There was not enough space for people to have their own private cave.
