  • Thanks for pointing out the need for grease absorber spray on the handles. I'm restoring a vintage summer bag with very greasy handles from using sunblocks, and the alcohol solvent I was recommended did not feel efficient enough in removing all the grease, now I understand why, and hopefully have found the solution. :) Thank you for this informative video!

  • I would seal the paint with an acrylic (mat or glossy). I have seen the paint fade away after couple of years because of this.

  • Hi. If I have a crocodile leather cardholder that has turned darker and patina but I would like to restore it back to its original bright tone. The crocodile leather design comes with 2 different colour in the design of patches on the leather, do I have to manually paint it t restore back its colour?

  • Hi there I’m interested in purchasing a whiteish lizard print bag but I noticed when the flap is open the bag is more white than the exterior. The exterior looks like it’s yellowed. Is there a way to get the yellow tint out? Many thanks!

    • It could just be faded. Is the leather absorbent? If it isn't you could try to clean it gently but quite certain it will need to be re-painted. Please email some pictures to info@leathercare.com so we can guide you further.

  • Although I appreciate all the information, I think I'm going to take my crocodile bag to a professional as it's a vintage, new with tags, limited edition Judith Leiber from the 1980's and was told it could be worth as much as $50k and I'm not going to risk screwing it up. Especially the paint! It's a lime green color and it has a lot of bling and metal and I would end up with lime green on everything... but, I do have a Versace that I will treat using your method. It's not going to get painted, though. It's black and it just needs a little freshening up. Or maybe I'll just take that in too! I'm scared! LOL! (I buy and resell vintage items. Sometimes I get things that I don't even know what they are. I got an item at a thrift store once for $3.50 and had no clue what it was, but I knew it was old and that it was probably going to be worth a lot more than the four dollars I paid. Two years later I found out it was a turn of the century, POS display case for when ink pens were mass marketed. I sold it to a woman who bought it for her pen collector son for $300 on Ebay. I don't remember how I found out what it was...and that's really bugging me now!)
