  • Ref gotta chill. There's no rule against showboating while boxing. Some fighters just fight better that way 🤷🏿‍♂️

    • But there is one against turning your back and hitting with the inside of your gloves.

    • the one that made sense that the ref stepped in was after the spin, since youre not allowed to turn your back to your opponent, but i agree that the rest wasnt necessary

    • @@fridge-finsDead right mate, it's the same as ducking your head, ur not meant to duck the head "looking' at the floor, the face must be facing forward when you bob a punch, but they let it go in pro boxing... Whittaker was in no danger when he spun around, but the Ref wanted to get his head on TV... He boxed well here, less showboating.. Threw some nice crisp shots, especially the left rips to the liver, regardless of his opponent, there's a lot to like.

  • This is what the sport needs. People will pay money to see guys like this! UFC really took a lot of eyes off of boxing but if we had a higher number of people that were entertaining to watch, the sport could easily get back into the lime-light!

    • The problem is, if or when an exciting guy like this loses to another good fighter, then promoters and even boxing fans will claim the guy is a bum. Look at how they treated Erroll Spence all of a sudden. Can’t blame guys for protecting their 0 losses

    • Nah. Just make the best fight the best. Tank and Canelo may seem fun to watch but their antics and hilarious match making makes them unbearable to watch. Top fighters fighting each other is more exciting than matches where you pretty much know the outcome.

    • UFC has too many eye pokes and when people like Masvidal appear to cover themselves in grease? Bisping moaning about TRT Belfort when somehow? He used to fight at 205? People putting their hands on the floor so you can't kick/knee them and a rule set designed to make college wrestlers do well Nothing like a real fight. 190 or so rules. Which is fine. But why sell it UFC as a fight when you can't even push. Also suspect title wins and changes. And past history of MMA is riddled with fixed fights and unfair matchups. I like proper boxing and Whittaker turning his back and hitting with the non knuckle part of the glove. That isn't boxing Also he got found out on a DAZN show against a decent journeyman. So really it's a show rather than sustance

You can't really be impressed till he's fighting the top ten, if he ever makes it that is. Faster hands or a hard hitter could end him. The top ten is a different ball park for every weight class. • Some of it was too much. At one point, he looked like he was about to throw a knee but of course he was just dancing or something. I saw it and the ref flagged it momentarily. He spun himself around to where his back was facing the other fighter, a big no no in boxing. You can't be allowed to do it just because you're playing around. And eventually, he's going to pay the price of doing that stuff. Too much of it is not funny. I'm good when a boxer just does it once or twice in a fight but this guy is filling up his whole fight with foolishness.
