His fights show, he has great skill, power, speed, and like he has said he knows when not to use it. He's pretty much our modern day Emmanuel Augustus. A interesting boxer, who got screwed a lot sadly.

      @APAMVs@APAMVs18 күн бұрын
    • @APAMVs I have alot to say when it comes to Augustus, most haters are casuals so they compare Whitaker to the late prince naseem(I also did so as well at first) who lost in his last fight with just simple basic Mexican boxing. Augustus will be remeberd for his tekken like style and his short noticed fights that still went the distance,Whitaker might be Augustus if Augustus had a proper coach, promoter, judges.

  • It's crazy how much people hate Whittaker for showboating when that's what makes him entertaining to watch. People say he can't maintain this style as he keeps going against tougher opponents, but I think if he masters this style it can prove to be an asset. I'm not saying it won't be difficult, I can see this style of boxing confuse many boxers.

  • The level of hate directed towards Whittaker is bewildering. He’s at the start of his career, brilliant skill set, still a few areas to iron out, beating everyone so far with ease, including Willings here, who to be fair, is a very promising fighter in his own right. Ben is only in the second year of his pro career, give the kid time, he’s an exciting fighter.

    • Well that’s just silly but the point is that Willings took the fight on 9 days notice against a fighter who is said to be set for super stardom who has fought at decent venues all over the world in Commonwealth - world and Olympic finals . Whittaker at 26 has a heck of a lot more experience than the 23 year old Willings and has already experienced some big nights , Willings on the other hand has never been on a stage anywhere like the 02 and for him to put up a performance like that was a great achievement. I say onwards and upwards now for the lad and with the steady improvement likely I think he has a bright future .

    • I don’t think Leon exposed anything. He landed some big shots but he landed few. Leon was winning…maybe 30 seconds of each round on average. But winning 30 seconds doesn’t mean he exposed anything. Shakur dominated Valdez. But Shakur admitted afterward that Valdez hurt him bad to the point where he considered going down to a knee. Did Valdez hurting Shakur expose Shakur? No. He still got whooped. Leon is the same. He didn’t expose Ben. Leon got his ass whooped. But he was tough. Just as Valdez was.

He's not nearly as experienced in either the time or opposition level Whittaker has had so I didn't expect him to show superior skills throughout. The fact is he made Whittaker look a lot worse than he should've against an opponent at this level.
