    • I love the implication in the sentence too, the mask actually didn't belong to his "tribe", he just stole it for personal use after talking about how wrong it was for the museum to do the same. it's great foreshadowing to his later actions like letting his girlfriend die, or planning to invade targets like china despite not being involved in black oppression, or planning to create the wakandan empire with the implicaton that the rest of the world will become wakandan colonies, he doesn't actually care about improving the lives of any black person he just wants to satisfy his own desire for revenge and anything that isn't a target is a tool to be used and discarded, the mask included. Sorry for the info dump I just love it when stories use little moments like that to give insight into how a character thinks. Edit: Yeah ok I may have jumped the gun with my comment about china. I was more talking about the use of military force and spies to directly seize power rather then the bullshit economic deals done by china. That stuff is bad but one sided trade agreements and predatory lending practices pale in comparision to slavery, genocide, coup detats and military conquest. Plus the city targeted in china is hong kong which was the victim of british imperialism and is currently the victim of chinese authortarism.

It never belonged to them white folks and they don’t even know what it was.
