There's a science behind felines (and some other animals) being able to mimic human speech. Cats specifically are ambush predators: when they hunt, they don't like to be seen or spotted by prey until the fight is almost over. As such, cats are known to hide and "mimic" the sound of whatever the thing is they are trying to prey on-- like birds and mice. Larger felines do this too even though strictly speaking they don't really have to-- lions can mimic deer or larger prey. Cats have vocal range. They might be trying to "lure" a human in by sounding human. Except they probably know they can't eat us 🤣
