    • @@odiadordeisrael It depended, for some slavic states (like Croatia) I agree that he just adapted to politics. But for western and nordic countries (Britain, France, Danemark/Sweden/Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerlands...) he had a rather fixed opinion during the entirety of the party existence. He even had kind of a classification. The most contradictory parts were really in the East (some Balkan countries, Hungary, and that hilarious part about Ukrainian women). He needed some of those countries, badly, yet theorically for the nazis slavs were the same of jews and sub-saharan blacks, inferiors to be exterminated. I think he just "needed" to change that stance, at least temporarily, for political purpose.

In other words the pure Slavic was as aryan as the Germanic but the Regions the Slavs lived in were infused with a variety of non aryans( theoretically) incursions historically to denote some Slavs nations as often insufficiently pure enough aryan to be wholly included. Though most populations were partially going to be included as citizens ( thus aryan)50% -60% of Baltic’s , 35% of Ukrainians , 90% of Czechs, etc etc .

  • Have you read Otto Wagner's "memoirs of a confidant". Quite interesting how in 1936 Hitler was talking abut setting up a Greater European Union with a customs union with Poland, Czechoslovakia and everyone else in Europe. Obviously 3 years later there'd be war, so basically I think Hitler's "plans" for the future changed every week. This video is a nice compilation, though probably far from definitive of all the various writings German leaders made about possible future configurations.

    • Nothing serious. Like, there were some table talks that were never a part of the official policy, just wishful thinking that were completely void of reason and realism. But essentially, everything outside of the Generalplan Ost was not official and not a priority. Especially for places like Americas and Africa. Generalplan Ost was already extremely optimistic and if successful would take the entire century if not more to be finished and would eat all the time, resources, money and focus that Germany could muster. Even various topics within the rest of Europe were kinda non-defined (as you can see in the video) as Germans really did not care that much. It was mostly an afterthought. The priority was eastern expansion and reorganization of the order in the east. Everything else was not really planned, but had more of a "we'll cross that bridge when we come to it" vibe. But sure, you could probably dig out some table talk about Germans planning planetary domination and expanding their influence into space as well. But those were nothing but a simple table talk and fantasies that no one really took seriously. Simply because even their main goal and reason for starting the war was already outside of their scope of possible. It made little sense to fantasize much about Americas, Africa etc.

They even planned to divide the continent into different countries under German control. Roosevelt presented a map concerning this, and while the map was a forgery, it was based off a real map to get South America into the New Order.

    • I see this abjection all the time, "WW2 wouldn't happen". Of course it would. I severely doubt Italy was the reason Germany was so confident to invade Poland and without Italy, best case scenario is that the war starts sometime in 1940 instead. People keep throwing scenarios around but WW2 is an imperative in the same way that WW3 is. Even if it happens 3000 years from now, there will be a WW3 just like there would have been a WW2 even if you removed Italy from the equation.

  • With regards to Spain, some members of the basque nationalist party in exile in France sought accommodation with the Germans and there were talks of establishing an independent basque republic on the grounds that they were more aryan than the rest of Spaniards. In fact a few years ago a bit of an scandal happened because some tapes were found apparently of a few German officers going through the Basque Country and investigating its culture and also the names of several high ranking basque nationalist party members was discovered. Interestingly enough, this was not the case with the catalonian nationalists, as while the left wing section sided with the republicans and were the ones in control of the region along with the anarchists during the civil war, most of the right wing which belonged for the most part to the high catalan burgoise collaborated with the nationalists during the spanish civil war, giving them important financial aid and representation in the exterior, receiving in return their land and industrial properties seized during the civil war and many of them would become important members of the francoist state (with many joining the Falange despite its centralist positions) so there really wasn't any attempt on that side to seek an agreement with the germans.

    • Also there’s a lot to be said about Hitlers view on Spain and the Spaniards. Like many of his views of other nations, his opinions could swing 180 depending on the mood he was in. After Franco “made” Hitler to reject him into the Axis, there was talk of still carrying out an invasion of Spain itself for taking Gibraltar, but when Hitler caught wind of it he refused on the grounds that if Napoleon failed to conquer Spain, that meant that Spaniards had a spirit of resistance and guerrilla warfare that would be a logistical and military nightmare for the German army. Other times he would call them lazy and oriental.

  • If I remember right, Hitler's entire plan was to just focus on the East. If Britain and France hadn't cared about Poland, then WW2 as we know it would not have happened. It would have just been more of a Nazi-Soviet war than anything else, because Hitler surprisingly cared very little for the West and just wanted his own empire out of the way from everyone elses. I suppose it helps that everything East of Moscow was completely uncontested outside of the Soviet Union, so if they had conquered them, then they would have no competition or threats (except maybe the Japanese but considering Hitler called them Honorary Aryans, I'm sure there would have been some sort of compromise)
