Congrats on the car its insane 😍👌👏👍
No on the spliter
Need to blacken the badges get rid of all the silver murder it out in black bits
No to the splitter, another great video. 😁
Definitely needs the lip kit on!!
Thats a pretty fancy Mahk 8!
Gotta see that JB on the R...😁😎

5 minutes into owning a new car and Moog already put cable ties on it, DIY tuners around the world are so proud right now 🤣. Joking aside the car looks awesome. But Moog you said to vote around the lip kit but you only showed the front lip, it’s hard to say unless we see the kit as a whole. I think the front lip is fine but it’ll come down to if you can live with the OCD of the logo being offset 😂 I personally like the offset logo.
perhaps carefully peel off the logo and re center it in the middle
@@brunostiglitz7535 or just remove the logo completely. Who wants an ugly logo on their car?...
Golf 4 life
I think the offset logo is ment to be offset actually. Because it would look dumb in the middle.
I love this car so much i could honestly say its my dream affordable love the mods youve done it looks way better i enjoy your vids so much
I started watching this channel when i was 9. Seeing the difference in quality of these videos grow along with me is truly amazing. Props to you guys, and cheers to more years!
The detailing montage was almost my favourite part. Everything looks so clean and perfect after the process!
LOVE that you guys got a MK8R. Wish you would have spent more time in it stock. Its so good. Maybe one of these days we can collab LOL :P
This is something I would love to see.... Make it happen!
PLEASE FLY THEM OVER AND BUILD A budget GTI for lemons together!!!
Im into this!
@@Deutscheautoparts I'll fly in from SoCal to help you guys!
Based on their video plots, and the prior contest with Roadkill, you should have a Moog vs. Marty build for Lemons with Paul helping one and Charles helping the other!
Love how that car was stock for about an hour from dealer pick-up to the shop.
Sadly if you actually do this yourself, VW will instantly void your warranty.
Tht how it done true Og style
Life is too short for stock cars.
Dutchse Auto Parts did a video on modding it before they even signed the papers...
I usually void warranties within the first week of buying. It's bad... But fun
That B-roll footage, the editing, and the amazing work by the guys at Sydney Premium Detailing made for some of the best looking car content I have ever seen on KZhead. I am in absolute awe of how amazing the car has ended up looking. Massive props to those guys and what a homage to them through this video. They couldn't have asked for a better commercial.
Great result! Love the OEM+ look personally as well. I would go for the frontlip, which makes the front just a bit more aggressive, and it seems like it would frame the front entirely. But hey, it's your goat, so float it as you please! :D
The music for this episode is amazing at the end, on its own it's an incredible piece of music, but it really works so perfectly for that part of the video. Mad respect.
Very kind thanks mate!
@@mightycarmods such a chill vibe in that cleaning vid
@@mightycarmods can I pay you money to listen to that somewhere?
@@Bleechers PLEASE!
@@Bleechers Lots of the music is on Apple Music, Spotify and streaming platforms under 'Moog'. Cheers!
I'm a yes for the lip kit. Personally, I would have gone for the TRC lowline kit but it definitely looks better with one on.
So happy for you Moog. A new car for a champion of a bloke sharing your mods journey with us. The new mods make the car stand out even more and the final TLC on the paint job was next level. The lip kit could be the way to go!
Love the mods you selected and the down to earth approach you take on your vids! I was considering a new Golf R as my next purchase and you sold me on it for sure! Congrats on the new ride!
I reckon the lip kit is good. Looks meaner with it, cleaner without. Depends on what style you want, it's your car after all. Sick vid as always, happy you're so happy with the car, mate 🤙🏻
Has some Urus vibes if you ask me.
I would send that Maxton Lip Kit Back to Maxton. Bought a Maxton kit once. It was badly made, terrible finish. Had to send it back. If I was desperate for a lip kit I would buy from TRC (Triple R Composites).
i agree. looks much more aggressive with it. personally don't like mk8 r much cause looks too much like an ordinary car. so i think that front splitter deffo helps it stands out quite a bit.
On!!
@@callumpetch7903 I have a Maxton rear bumper, it was just terrible fitment wise, had to sand and glue a lot.
The clear film wrap is the most interesting part to me of the detailing process. The time it takes to make that look as unnoticeable as possible is wild. Car looks amazing! DO THE LIP KIT!
Wonderful 😊😊😊
Pretty much spot on Re mods. - wheels/tyres - coils or springs - lip kit - exhaust Transforms the car
Just bought my MK8 a few months ago. This has been the best video I've watched so far. Excited to mod mine evventually. Your R is dope
I generally follow the "less is more" philosophy, but I vote yes for the front air splitter. Adds an aggressive look and really complements the wheels. (Also prefer the badge offset vs centered.)
Looks better with the splitter for sure
Yep, same here. Less is more guy. Definitely the lip looks great tho, I'd put it on.
The moment I saw those black tips on the car and the new wheels I immediately loved this car. Absolutely perfect.
Adjust the tip ;)
that paint protection and cermaic coating segment... smiles, smiles , and more smiles. pure automotive bliss.
The whole duration of this video was just pure automotive bliss and therapy! Thanks for giving us this awesome safe space and escapism guys!
When I first started watching MCM 10+ years ago I was broke and sad driving my Civic Hybrid with its poop CVT. A decade and a Ford Focus later, I put my name down on a Golf R shortly before it came to Australia (I live in Canada) and picked it up two weeks ago. This also was the first time I ever bought a new car --due to the whole being broke thing. I definitely must've been influenced by MCM to end up going for such a specimen of a car and am stoked to follow Moog on his journey modifying his Mk8.
enjoy your new car mate
I did the same 3 years ago with the mk7 golf r series .Bought it , than straight to stage 2 more than 12 grands in mods . best choice of my life run 11s 1/4 mile hope you enjoyed it ! Hi from Canada(quebec)
what color did you get?
@@TheG60528XiJinPing Went with the lapiz blue. It really does look even better in person.
@@GhostReaper5.0 I'll be doing that too at some point. Right now I'm just enjoying driving something that doesn't take 10+ seconds to go from 0-60 lol. Also hi from BC!
I think it looks better with the lip kit but I think you could probably find something better than that one. Oddly I think if the badge on it was centered it would look weird, though I would have put it on the side with the R badge.
@BeauBrink more 🇵🇱 ;)
The TRC kits look pretty much the same but are much better quality.
The off center logo is definitely a mistake, all Maxton design parts have the logo in the middle
@@Oockeshoek Definetly not a mistake, even my kit has the badge on the side and all the kits I've seen have the badge on the side
my maxton design splitter was not the best quality but the badge was off centre on mine too
The video of how to perfect your golf R, this is absolutely spot on!. Good job guys
Lol you guys made me trade in my 2019 STI and buy a 2019 Golf R, now I have a 2021 STI and you're making me want to trade it in for a 2022 Golf R thanks a lot MCM!
I think the lip looks good ... and I don't think the logo offset is a mistake since it sits right at that corner spot .. great car and good luck with it :)
From seeing loads of cars with a Maxton design splitter, most have an offset logo. Even my KSB Splitter on my golf has a logo sat on one side
I peeled the sticker/badge off the Maxton splitter I got for my wife's Civic.
Do it! I have just brought the full Maxton kit for my Tesla Model S so would be good to see you fitting it before I attempt mine
Yeah surprised you didn't install the lips Moog!
Yh it's just a Maxton thing
I've had a few sporty Golfs in my time but have to say this looks great. What I also like about your videos is how inclusive you are when it comes to society's less fortunate. Nothing says tolerance, consideration and a willingness to help, more than letting a guy from Yorkshire work on your car.
Ba ha ha ha.
I was on the fence about reserving a blue R that was coming to my local dealer, but after seeing it with the black wheels and body kit, im SOLD. It looks WAY better than stock, great work
Wow what a beautiful golf, glad you grabbed an 8r moog. As a 7r owner myself, I love to see this 🔥🔥🔥
I can't recommend 3M PPF highly enough. I've used it on my front corner lights, the sidemarkers/indicators and of course the pop-up lights. I've also used it on the place where I needed it the most on my car, which was the tail lights. being an 80's car with degrading plastics and bad UV rot, I needed something to protect the lenses from being any worse, which is where the PPF (and specifically 3M) came into the picture. after sanding them down with 1500 wet/dry and washing them, they got PPF coated and look fresher than when they left the showroom. it's also UV resistant, self-healing (some kind of black magic in that) and was piss-easy to apply. great episode Moog.
But is it worth 2900$ for the front tho? Cuz that my local wrapping place (exclusive wrap) has quoted me. Don’t think it’s worth that much, because luxury car don’t stay in your hands that long
So happy you got another R!! Those mk7r videos are the reason I started watching the channel.
Yo, I can see why you've been doing this for years and have 3.63M subscribers :) You seem like a genuine guy, and this seems like a genuine channel.
Such a fun video to watch and all the music is surprisingly excellent putting me in the vibe
I used to work at a dealership doing pre delivery inspections & cleans, & almost every brand new car I worked on would have less than 6kms on the clock. So being that this is the first MK8 Golf R in the country, I’d say a few of the salesmen have definitely taken this for a spin around the block a few times for it to end up being delivered with 14kms. Either way, the car looks amazing after the paint correction, and I’d definitely put the lip kit on as well. Great video as always!
Different brands and types of cars could have different testing?
I work for GM and some vehicles have 10-15KMs on them . It all depends on the way they are delivered . In my city they come in by train then are moved around the lot to be loaded onto trucks to be shipped out .
Most cars can still reset the odometer under 100kms for pre delivery
Looks amazing! I was almost definitely sure that you would change the emblems with the black ones. But still, it's beautiful! I honestly would prefer the lip kit without the logo or at least properly positioned. The logo on the lip kit looks a bit bigger than it should and stays under the bumper.
I remember when you guys were painting plastic trim and brake calipers on your drive. Now you're taking delivery of a new $60k car in your massive workshop. Crazy how far you've come, love this channel.
I think the lip kit is a go. I also actually like the offset badge on it
Adding lip kits is a trend that should have died years ago.
@@themarauder6108 to each their own. I do agree to some extent. I feel like it’s very dependent on what car it’s going on and the style of the lip. For example, half of the ones made for my ‘19 Civic Si just look plain stupid.
@@enjoiLife198 , There's a kid that lives near me who's bolted one of these kits to his Yaris along with a loud exhaust, it looks and sounds ridiculous.
Rip that badge off!
Yup, I'm normally super conservative around these things, but it's a nice looking lip IMO.
All the mods look great! Perfect height, nice clean wheels, good choice of tires. The lip kit looks really good. And Marty sneaking around in the reveal shots was hilarious 😂
Congratulations on your new car mate , wow what a beauty Awesome video keep up the good work

31:50 Whenever this track starts... makes me wanna live life to the fullest... thank you moog and marty for an awesome channel with amazing content and music.... you guys are one of the best things that ever happened in my life... cheerss ❤
I’m glad the aftermarket’s finally caught up to some of the little things that used to be prohibitive. Like valved exhausts and electric dampers and electric parking brakes. I thought the ground effect kit looks great minus the offset badge. Nice and subtle almost factory look with the matching gloss black.
one of the simple but clean MK8 R iv seen! really sold me on a R now lol got to get my hands on one!
Awesome looking R, just got my GR Yaris back from Jarrod and the team at Sydney Premium Detailing yesterday after watching this. Legends!
Take away the limited revenue MCM gets from KZhead, merch sales etc. Both Marty and Moog are very talented music professionals, the fact this is the first brand new car MOOG has purchased, speaks volumes of his character. That's why l continue to support THE GREATEST 4WD'n CHANNEL ON THE INTERNET!
His first new car and it's not an outrageous super car like most KZhead car people get. I'm glad he went with the Golf R.
Don't forget the sponsors and I bet they get plenty of free stuff sent to the guys, bet the people in this video did it for free or for a much reduced rate for the exposure, plus I bet Miltek sent the exhaust as a freebie....but I could be wrong. Not taking anything away from the guys, love their work but there is more going on in the background than you and me realise. They have a HUGE following not only in Australia but ROW (I'm in the UK) that's a huge amount of exposure for any brand (They are definitely influencers in the car world)
Detailing vehicle is absolutely a modern art that is underappreciated, especially the skill it takes to wrap perfectly a brand new car they've never touched before.
Absolutely gorgeous car! Tastefully done and sounds amazing!

Loving that color Moog. I'd say give the lip a try. Maybe just test fit it with a couple double sided pieces of tape. Then if you like it, make the install more permanent. Beautiful car though!
Lip on, IMHO
As a lot of people will say. I love how far you guys have come. It’s inspiring 😊
When I finally got an opportunity to buy a new car for the first time and I also got the Mark 8 Golf R; congratulations! Thank you for your amazing videos; it definitely helped me make my decision.
I'm just accidentally seen your video but honestly it's pure enthusiasm, ✌️thanks to a youtube algorithm for bringing me here 😅. nice car man thanks😉
Love the WRECK IT on G8R. Quick thought, maybe consider spray some black heat resistance paint on the inside of the exhaust tip to cover the metal tubing. Was quite noticeable whilst pulling into the detailers
Came to the comments looking for this. Small details that matter.
@MCM - you should grab an OBDeleven which will let you easily adjust change car settings. From enabled undertake with ACC, to adjusting the speedo calibration and everything in between. Best thing I ever purchased for my golf!.. Changes that are a must do, - disable starting vibration reduction (stops the car from applying the brakes if you get any slight wheel slip, which causes the thudding) - enable press and hold lock/unlock on key to wind windows up/down. - allow door locking while engine is running. - enable a selection of colours for the dash/infotainment accents. - disable start stop at all times. - don't turn off DRLs when indicator is active. - disable menu/input lockouts while driving. - enable undertaking while using ACC (the car will literally slow down to the same speed as a car on the right, rather than continuing past). - set soundaktor percentage (0-100%) - change throttle input curve to "direct" (by default the throttle ramps up and down in attempt to smooth the drive). It's really endless.
I might have to get that, thanks man
Great video! Added sequential turn indicators to my 16 MK7 GTI S without popping the mirrors.
When are we going to see some more MK8 R content?????
When you're watching MCM and MCM upload.... very good, very nice.

Such a beautifull car! Thanks for the video!
Honestly that lip kit looks pretty cool, though I would remove the badge completely.
Loved the genuine delight on your face as you lowered the car down after installing the Milltek, Moogs. Using the old wheels with some dedicated tyres for the track? Very tasteful mods (even if i do prefer blue/silver vs blue/black!). Correction and film makes it look spectacular - front lip and skirts will top it off, I think. Congrats on the new .:Ride!

Love the mods. Waiting 8 months to get my R and definitely going for the black wheels with 5s tires.
I think this design is right next to the MK6 R for me, its curvy like that one, but has the MK7 edges to compliment the curves. I am so freaking jealous of the countries that get the Avant version...
YES YES, great show the golf R is beautiful, love the show from Gippsland.
I've worked for VW for 8 years it's cool to see people do stuff like this as I see these day in day out
A message for the haters of golf 8. Good luck hating this car. The car is looking so good, oem + gotta be the best way to go when modifying a car. Clean af
oem+ is sooo clean love it
Golfs are too boring to hate.
Im with you on the gloves. I know its a safety issue but I've been turning wrenches over 20 years and the feel isn't there for me. Also, my hands sweat and I hate that wet glove feeling. Great content as usual. Grats on the new car.
I sometimes use gloves, but they usually shred themselves within 5 minutes...
ive been doing it a few weeks (just started as an apprentice) and i hate gloves. ill only wear them with brake fluid stuff because it irritates my hands
Get some better quality. MAGID polyester coated industrial assembly gloves are pretty good, and like $3 a pair.
Deffo go with the MD splitter. Once it's on you'll wonder what you were thinking not having it on there. Love this little build by the way! If we were still in the 90s you'd have some sick manufacturer logo stickers on your doors!
That is awesome. Great mods, absolutely agree with the black. I'll be trying to pick one of these up in 3 years... used. Would love to get into a VW Golf. The US is sorely lacking in hot hatches. I think the sticker on the front lip is meant to be offset because it's painful trying to get something like that perfectly centered. But if it's purposely offset then it always looks stylish.
Love the new Golf, had to be Lapis 😁 As for the lip kit, it's a no from me. Just don't think most cars need it. See a tonne of Focus STs over here in the UK on the owners page I'm a member of with them fitted and just think they look really tacked on and don't help the overall look. It's the main reason I've kept it off my Mk3. But each to their own 👍
Love the content, but personally I think the maxton design bits can sometimes makes cars look a bit tacky, sometimes their products look cheap
The hardware certainly looked cheap as it chinced across the floor. I'd be straight off to the stainless nut and bolt supply for some 304 (minimum) grade hex female pan heads and ancillaries.
maxton are cheap chinest crap bro
Anything after market on modern cars look tacky, they usually look as good as they can be from factory which is why the modified car scene died

Hehe got my MK8R back on Feb 28, and immediately ceramic coated/PPF, did wheels, tires, mirror caps (CF replacements), springs, tinted, hood strut, and blacked out reflectors that we have in North America, and had planned to wrap the roof in black as well. Haha almost same mod choices!
Hands down my favourite episode, long live German engineering and tuners with good taste
Good to see the Chinese work boots on in the tyre shop when you’re changing tyres 👍🏻

Absolutely love everything you’ve done. OEM plus 👌🏻💪🏼😍
I remember watching you guys working in the driveway. I'm so proud of you guys 💪💕 Edit: Also, the stock exhaust tips look like something off a PT Cruiser or a HHR hahaha
Dude! I thought the same thing, haha 😂.
Love that the valve system in that golf R is exactly the same as my MK8 fiesta st. Just a note for the valve, after a while the spring compresses too much and it gets rattly when the valves shut. If that happens put a little piece of rubber in the motor side, it helps. Had to do it with mine with the miltek exhaust.
I like front spoiler on better

Hi! I'm not sure if you read comments, but I'm just really happy you showed that wheel & tyre. I totally understand the tiny little drop :)
What's your mechanic in the shops accent? So interesting. I'm guessing parts of Australia (Maybe he's from New Zealand?) has different accents by region like here in Canada.
South African. I'm from Cape Town/Durban myself.
Sounds like a South African accent to me.
Defo S.African accent. ...we sure do stick out dont we? 😅🤣
Ahh, thanks folks! It's definitely a unique one I wouldn't hear often.
So good to see you remedy the mistake of getting rid of your previous Golf R... The Audi didn't quite cut it. I think the White GolfR was my favorite build. It was a good looking daily with heaps of Power.. It is quite amazing how much larger the new exhaust is than stock. It sounds a bit more aggressive but it sure looks a whole lot better. Your anti chrome stance is growing on me. The drop was a bit low for my taste but it is your ride. I knew as soon as I seen the car in the dealer those mirror caps were getting altered. Are the new wheels and tires lighter than stock or is it just cosmetic? The KIT always seems to fit Moogs personality and it does look better when he's done most of the time.. Now add the Chopped Sticker.. I can't wait to see Marty get to go full Mark8 mods on the MIRA - Scion - Toyota... Oh whatever that 3 cylinder nugget is. Note: I guess if your going to pay that much for a car and then put a substantial amount of money into modifying it you might as well go the extra mile and protect your investment. I don't think my car is worth the amount of money that was spent on the mods and protection which is probably why I like watching this show.. Nuggets to exotics.. so much fun. Thanks and best wishes on repairing the vandalized GTi-R.
These Revo wheels are supposed to be lighter than normal, it's from their new lineup if I remember correctly, plus they're forged, so that's also nice
@@bleachyunknown2000 Thanks for the reply. I haven't bought wheels (or a new car) in so long I just wasn't sure how light modern wheels would be, especially on a vehicle like the Golf R.
