Maybe it's just me, but this is the first time to see a pre inspection on a purchase . Smart decision buy the customer and bus grease monkey.
Man I absolutely loved the vacuum trick for the studs. I’ve never seen or heard of anything like that. That’s why I watch-to learn from the best.
It’s a two person job
Yup. Done this on engines too. Like you forget to put the gasket on the drain plug and you can do it the hard way, lose a bunch of oil and spatter it all over everything. Or you can stick a shop vac on the oil fill and do the gasket swap on the plug, lose no oil and no mess. Done this when I was in manufacturing on telehandlers we were building. Even the big hydro tanks this trick works. It was some what regular they wouldnt get the big o-ring on the suction line to the main hyd pump in correctly and it will leak like a sieve so we could swap that o-ring out losing only a gallon or so of hyd oil.
You boys are do'n a great job. Hope all the electrical charging issues from storms are worked out. Keep up the good work.....
I'm glad here in the Netherlands we've got pretty thorough inspection on our vehicles. Kinda scary how many busses in the US drive around with wonky brakes and all kinds of other defects.
I learned so much from you guys. It makes me less scared about looking into a older bus. You guys have all kinds of knowledge dang. You and the crew our great teachers

Thinking back to when the only tools you had were carried in your bus, you’ve come a long way in only a few years. Shows what hard work and honest business practices can do. One comment: only saw one small fire extinguisher. I’d get a few big 20 lb ones. God forbid there is ever a fire on a bus, everything could go up incredibly fast.
what you need Scott, is to find a crafty welder and have him make up a monkey out of old bus parts- install it on that rock by your driveway entrance.
No we don’t need to draw any attention to our place. No signs and we are not open to the general public.
@@BusGreaseMonkey how about on the cliff by the big hill, like donkey kong hanging off the tower swinging a 671 crank shaft, yelling at the busses to get up the hill.... and for smooth even brake pressure on the way down
I think @bmxsno has the right idea. Put it at the top of the hill, visible from the stop light.

The video pre inspection is a great way to save future bus owners a bundle, plus then they have more to spend at your place. The shop tour made me sooo tool envious.
I’m thinking about a toolbox tour at some point too. Really showing what’s all inside all those boxes.

I marvel at how you remember where all the nuts and bolts go after it's all apart and after its been waiting for parts!
Ive had to drain many air tanks emulsified with water, oil, and mold. I can still smell it days after if any got on ya. The worst was a gallon jug filled with that crap. I had removed the driveline to transport and waited for it to complete . Started draining prior the the removal of shaft lol. So greatfull for modern dryers.
Pre-purchase inspections are an excellent tool thst that everyone should use. Safety is everyones responsibility. Obviously the previous owners were not practicing pre-trip inspections. Air tank full of water makes the case. Prevost are well built coaches. But unless maintenance is kept up there like every other used bus owned by novices. Surprised that it doesn't have an air dryer? Great video!
SOME OLD AIR HOSES didn't believe in draining the air tank
THis is what I suggested many, many, many times (video or in person - risks of video vs. in person duly noted). Great idea, great video, great effort Scott Tyler and crew!

a lot of buses have limped into to shop ,but driven out with there power restored.
The Delta Pilot needs his wing walkers. Funny how he prefers to travel by bus than by private airplane. Just can't get away from the burning of Jet Fuel (diesel). A mile of highway will get you no where, but a mile of runway will give you the world.

Most parts are available but some things like airbags for Prevosts are back ordered like 12 weeks.

i always wondered on your 47 bus how many miles he thinks it has on it . but when they have been intra city bus how many miles are on them when greyhound or Trailways etc retire them

How are your Hercules power tools holding up I’m in the market for a impact and possibly a ratchet and I know if they can handle working on a bus it will do what I need just fine
We abuse them daily. None have ever failed. Very tough tools and the price is great.

My understanding is that you descend a hill in the same gear that you climbed with or 1 lower.
That bus has tons of power you do not want to come down in the same gear you climbed because toy would be coming down at 95mph
@@BusGreaseMonkey 😱That would be a white knuckle ride!!! (I engage engine braking on high setting (3 out of 6 cylinders) while descending. I have a manufactured 'bus' /RV with Cummins L9 & Allison 3000MH.

Driver man sure does turn his head around a lot while driving. If he keeps doing that, he'll definitely have a serious accident one day. Please tell him to break that habit; I certainly wouldn't want him to get injured and/or hurt someone.
I hate to see his face when he has a blowout with one hand on the steering wheel
I often think the same but most haven't had proper driver training, IMHO.
I know its an inside joke on youtube about new truckers. But they guy driving the bus is wearing flip flops..
