Shooting bugs, spectacular music score, and Denise Richards! What else can a 90’s teen ask for?? 😎
RIP to the tower boys. Every time I watch this I hope they'll make it even though I know it's not gonna happen.
Helldivers 2 taught me one thing, Democracy never dies!
It does when Biden is in office.

Lol as if the society in this movie is a democracy. It's 100% fascist
Beautiful example of unadulterated 90s sci fi action. It's dumb, it's simple and it knows it. But embraces those attributes to perfection.
It's dumb by design as a satire of fascism

I just imagine I'm watching Starcraft the movie and enjoy.
But the level of gore is in a whole different world of it its own.
Y’all are tripping, this movie is a classic, I freaking hate those bugs with a passion
I especially hate the Brain bug...too many eyes...*shudders*
The only good bug is a dead bug. I would like to know more.

Shoutout to the poor Tower guys - definitely the MVPs taking out shit tons of bugs only to get melted on the retreat....
One of the greatest most underrated movies.

Funny how, when we stop to think about it, the bugs are actually sort of the good guys, since they are defending their planet from a human invasion whilst Earth was never, actually, invaded.
Yeah Officer, this is the bug sympathizer. Arrest him!

Utterly ridiculous, overplayed, noisy and brash….but just brilliant filmmaking 👍 my ultimate guilty pleasure watch 😂😂😂
It's a fun movie.😊
3:34 EPIC scene the score kicks in and it is pure magic in film making
Verhoeven was so ahead of his time. Nothing compared to this when it came out. So brilliant and underrated as an action classic.
I love that one of my favorite classics is getting even more love 😭🙌🏾
Yes 😀👍
Mormon Extremists. The movie is full of social commentary. A Comic Book style movie. Not realistic....but excellent action scenes and interesting people. A Classic. I still enjoy it. It's like a dark version of Star Trek. The Federation!
I met Denise Richards at a party and we talked about this movie. Nice girl!! 😊

Stupendous visual FX and musical score!! Still a marvel to behold!!!
6:14 Never pull an object out of a wound. It stopping the bleeding Take to doctor and let them do it😊
I see the humans as the invaders and the bugs as the freedom fighters of their planet .
True, very well seen. The humans are the bad guys and because the "aliens" are so different from us its easy to kill them and hate them. There was this interesting short movie where they give drugs and modify their brains to view humans of another faction as ugly monsters so its easier to kill them.
I watched this when I was 6 when it came out in 93. I only just got over my fear of spiders 10 years ago lol. This is right up there with Tremors. My kid turns 6 7 this year lol
Except this movie came out in 97….
If you're watching this, that means you're not boots on the ground fighting for democracy!
I read the book years ago. Originally published in 1959, amazing! The book revolves around deep societal concepts, likely the author uses "alien insects" to fully dehumanize the enemy so that the reader cannot empathize with them, and further drive home the points that the author is trying to make. Good book, but I have to say that the movie is better, the movie didn't follow the early literature completely, but it tastes like recently post-WWII era as you watch it. Good directing, captured the intended atmosphere nicely. Kinetic
Surely they be lots of extra ammo at the base Love this movie
One of the best sci fi films of the pre 2000's. undoubtedly inspired Halo to be what it was. We really do need a game where you're dropped in an otherworldy place with a big squad and try to defeat/defend against an alien race in 1st/3rd person combat. such and underused plot in modern gaming, in fact non-existent for the most part.
I know virtually nothing about it, but isn’t that Helldivers?

"You know why im here......... DEMOCRACY AND FREEDOM "
'Come on you apes, you wanna live forever?' was a quote from Blücher, the Prussian general who led his troops to victory against Napoleon. Although the exact quote is 'Come on you dogs, you wanna live forever?'
I used to love that sequence in Starship Troopers since I imagined it at 7448 house with a red marker as blood.
Cool movie. A classic. Great FX. Love this. 👍
I Remember when this movie came out, it's a classic. I don't think I ever wished so hard for someone to get eaten by the Bugs as I did for Denise Richards😂
This is my life everyday in the summer as a gardener
She was better off leaving the bug’s leg inside her would’ve kept her from bleeding out as fast🤣🤣 man I love these comedy movies 🤣
Damn why am i just finding out about this series. I love the ideas and not holding back on the carnage
Love this movie. But it still irks me that nobody has hand grenades to drop on the bugs to keep em off the wall.
The invasion was a suspected walk in the park, so they effectively just sent in the bare minimum of what a soldier needs, that being guns, armor, and anmo.
Dina Meyer really can act a good death scene
3:36 is the best part !!
So cheesey yet so good... awesome kills...n battles
The bug 🪲 goo was everywhere.
Every time I watch this film I think "The dude that got killed in basic isn't the only one whose helmet was 'malfunctioning'" - Half the actors have their helmets over their eyes. Both the guy yelling "BUGS" and Michael Ironside are almost blinded by their helmets, and that's just in 10 seconds of footage.
Sorry rephrase? I didn’t notice anything odd about the helmets
It's by design, to show they're "in over their heads."
@@swatboy763They're literally covering their eyes. Half of them they fit properly, but because the neck part comes down so low, for others it pushes the helmet forward and forces them to tilt back to look up.
@ek1953No, it's not. It fits fine for plenty of them - it's a prop issue. Rico's helmet fits him fine, as do several other 'not great soldiers' - if it was symbolic, then Rasczak's helmet wouldn't have it while those others don't because his character is the one most shown to know exactly what he's doing. Edit: Though I do like the idea - it'd be great if intentional, but it wasn't.
Where's the Orkin man when you need him?
Rico: Sir, do yoh want me to have the nuke team, fire a couple rounds into the hoard of bugs? Lt: No let’s deplete our ammo and sacrifice some troopers before the rescue boat comes down. Rico: I have nukes that I can fire right now. Give me five seconds Lt: Rico..you just don’t get it do you. I want to be in a situation where we barely escape with our lives, what?
Recall the tv advert went..see it..be amazed. See it again....incredible effects
I always hated watching Dizz die
Dizz and Rico is one of the best love story of movie industry, still hurt to see her die
3:35 epic part
What I don't like about this film is that the Terrans had inadequate weapons for the job. No grenades, mortars, artillery, tanks or air support. The Terran command should be court martialed.
There is a lot of theories, based on the book and the films, that that was part of the point. The Government is a military dictatorship which needs an enemy to keep the population focused away from all the horrible crap they do. What could be more perfect that a horde of aliens that look monstrous and can help keep the population under control for years to come? Especially when the leaders don’t think the Bugs would be a serious threat due to distance besides a few colonies. They do have the weapons and equipment like mech suits, heavy vehicles, and portable mini nukes it’s just almost always “needed somewhere else” as an excuse.
causes general to go squish..........laugh and smirk.; love it, lol
This movie is an oldie but a goodie loved it when that brain bug got just deserts when it got captured
The CGI looks dated now, no ambient occlusion, no global illumination, no AGX colour grading, but the Human acting part help sells the emotion part very well.
The scene that spawned countless Starcraft custom maps
The tower guys that get killed by the tanker... If you pause / play on 0.25 speed... It's Freakin Horrific the way they melt !!!

Why is this called "outpost 29"? It is referred to as "Whiskey Outpost" many times in the movie and I can't remember a single time its called "29".
The outpost is often incorrectly called "Outpost 29", after the location seen in the 2005 video game, which also resembles Whiskey Outpost. Or so the wiki says
Helldivers never quit!!!!
He probably could have survived with no legs. He already lost an arm and was fine
Reminds 10.7. Many innocent non-involved civilians joined the attack. What is the end? Provided them with humanitarian help?
This was just one small step on the path to Liberty.
Hollywood and all this imagination
Jaja, this wasn't an original Hollywood movie. This Is an adaptación of a book written by an argentinian writer many years before the movie was filmed.

why did he pull the claw out.. he should of left it in she bled out faster because of him.
Rico was pretty stupid. Hell, they all were except Doogie Howser.
Not the first thing he pulled out of her that day. 😜
Let’s just say he was well suited to the infantry…
It was just keeping with the over the top nature of the film in general. Even though the technical advisor was retired Marine Corps Captain Dale Dye who had done the same job in (and camoed in) Platoon, and would really take off the next year after this film with Saving Private Ryan, and later the Band of Brothers HBO miniseries. Nobody was trying to be tactically realistic outside of depicting the carnage and extreme wounds resulting from combat.
They are fasc ists. Fasc ists don't have brains
NooOOOO Dizz!!!!

A thousand StarCraft UMS maps were based off of this scene.

Of course Matrix revolutions battle was completely inspired by this
Kinda weird that with all their tech & space travel they still have primitive caliber guns. Not ray or rail guns that just blast through an arbitrary number of enemies. But yeah, super epic battle obviously 😅
In the book, mobile infantry is a lot more effective and better equipped.
The bugs have a tough exoskeleton so they obviously won't be torn to shreds that easily

I hope they make a reboot of it!
if those damn Mormons didnt have an illegal forward settlement, our heroes in mobile infantry could have survived to fight the bug scourge somewhere important

Why they have no armour support? No artillery? Just 'mobile infantry' against thousands of giant bugs? I think they needed a good General/Commander.
