The documentary takes a look behind the scenes of the family business and shows the enormous logistical effort involved in handling the vehicle masses and the perfect luxury car care.

As a detailer I can say that not everyone cares or even sees swirls and scratches so no point in educating someone who really doesn’t care and just wants their car clean. Cool facility and can’t knock off the hustle
As a detailer as well, i would rather see a clean car with some swirls than a car covered in salt and dirt
@@thomasshelby7507 well that’s because your close minded
@@thomasshelby7507 oh I know. I spend ages getting swirls out of mine. But let the rest just swirl away. It keeps me in money 😄
@@thomasshelby7507 I understand what you're all saying but most just don't care. I'm given a new car as a company vehicle every 3 years (currently a 330e M Sport) and clean it once a week in automated car washes as it is just convinient - swirls can be the owners problem 10 years down the line. Even if I cared - one day of work is worth £250. If I spent one day a fortnite cleaning it over 10 years because I was worried a business or personal vehicle might not look as good its a massive waste of time and effort. I can bring it to you guys and have it paint corrected before resale etc. for a fraction of that lost income. It's not always ignorance - just convince and speed. Massive respect for detailers and their trade though. Plus, as others have said, gives you loads of business.
Same here. Professionally, I offer high quality wash jobs to semi trucks, and always tell people how damaging car washes are to your paint. But my car is 8 years old, and the last thing I want to do after hand washing cabs all day is to go home and wash a car for free. If I had an expensive car, sure. But a $4k Ford Fusion? Nah.
Hey guys, I actually live near this car wash. And I can say that us germans only really use it when we're short on time. And the interior cleaning they do is actually pretty rad not gonna lie xD But in general we're so obsessed with our cars that we wash them ourselves in "self cleaning stations" (basically pressure washers with drains). Washing your car in your driveway is actually illegal here, because of environmental laws. Cheers from Stuttgart!

@@jeremyluke8022 YES. Touchless only.
more business for detailers!
Of course nothing is softer on your car than hand washing, but honestly, this car wash is amazing and really much better than your usual gas station car wash. I used to go there quite a lot and never noticed any swirls (other than the one time I went somewhere else). The quick pressure-pre-wash gets off a lot of the debris that mainly causes those dreaded swirls. Also, other than most car washed, they regularly wash the cloths in the car wash so they don't even get the chance to collect as much dirt as others. For the interior cleaning they won't even reuse a cloth for a second car but toss it in the laundry bin and get a clean one every time. Thoroughly hand washing your car with a sponge that wasn't properly cleaned might actually do more damage to your paint than this "paint swirl factory" as some here call it. I always love to do to Mr Wash, although I have to admit, watching a couple of probably not very highly paid people clean out my car feels a bit condescending.
I've never seen so many clean cars line up for a car wash.

Nothing more painful as when I see someone take a +80k vehicle through a contact car wash. Leaving spiderwebs 🕸

@@AltimaNEO 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 facts
I like detailing and hand washing but for 90% of the world they just want their car cleaned. As far as everyday car washes go I’m very impressed. Massive operation.
Just clean involves hand washing and detailing, your average car wash doesn't do shit and the brushes that scrub the car usually leave scratches in the paint. If you spend time detailing you'll notice no car that comes out of a car wash is just clean, far from clean just gets some wet work done at the cost of shredding your paint. The best way I can explain it is getting a half ass exterior wash and still having door jams, windows, wheels, wheel wells, and interior to clean and that's over half the car lol
Years ago as an Englishman working in Germany I treated my nice new Mitsubishi Colt turbo to a car wash. I was 19 and it was my first car. I was completely blown away seeing a group of highly efficient detailers leap on my dirty car, I paid for the full monty and it was an absolute pleasure to watch. This was in the 80s and to my knowledge we didn't have anything like this in England at that time.
That Mechanic Shop is badass, we need to adopt this type of transparency here in the US.
Nothing beats a proper hand wash
Well of course with special shampoos the more lubrication you have the better
time you spend to do it
Most urban living citizens dont have the time for that. And if Yes, still no free slots for weeks ahead.
yup. Even a coin-op power wash bay and bring your own buckets/MF sponges/towels
Except many car wash businesses got rid of it because of the higher operational costs, doing it at home is good except I live at a apartment.

i enjoyed this way too much I like cars, I like cleaning and detailing, and I love machines..... I want a giant car wash of my own now.
If you truly liked detailing you would absolutely hate this video!! This place is destroying car paint work by the hundreds! 🤦🏻♂️ heart breaking
This seems really cool and high tech but i would never take my car to there or any place like that because the chemicals they use are bad for the car and often are cheap products or else it would cost too much, they are alkaline and acidic which can ruin car paint over time but they use it so it is easier to remove stuck dirt and grime etc. The contact wash is even worse because the microfibre spinning things dont get cleaned leaving dirt and abrasive substances stuck on them causing swirls and scratches on the car paint which look terrible. Car washing and detailing takes time and 30 seconds is not quality work, it is just for people who want express cleaning who dont really care about their car. also exposing a car to high tempuratures after a cold wash is also not good. I dont know why there are many luxury and expensive cars going there but they will soon realised what these automatic washing systems do to the cars. If you really care about you cars, please take them to a experienced car detailer or wash it by yourself with correct methods.

Would love the option of the 30 min wash and polish with a 99 euro oil change in such little time here in Ireland. €220 is also great value for the more intimate paint correction in the detailer.
Yes that price is wild. Without a ceramic coating to have your paint polished in my area is $500+. I actually bought a dual action polisher and do it myself once a year. There's nothing difficult about the process but doing it correctly does take many hours. The prep is the key, the actual polishing is pretty simple. Right tool, right pads, right compound and polish and it's just guiding a machine around your car.
Be careful, a certain Walter White could come and buy this place.

The car wash was invented in California by Al Swink right after WW2. The air blowers were surplus B-17 supercharger motors. The facility was HUGE with people driving hours to get there. It was the lead story in Look magazine. Al also invented the three prong straight cut metal shears.
This was so awesome 🤩

They'll scratch the shit of these cars with this speed. The Melkus wash, is how all cars should be washed.
To be honest the Melkus wash wasn't done that well either although it was a hundred times better than the industrial place.
I agree but for one thing is that the touch wash should be in straight back and forth not circles
@@jski238 right? Plus he dried it with a squeegee...
If the numbers are correct, 1 Melkus with 7 employees washes 3000 cars every year. With around 48 000 000 cars registered in Germany you would need 112 000 people working at carwashes to wash every car only once a year. Multiplying by 6 to wash every car every two months gets you 672 000 people working at Melkus-like carwashes, which is about 1.64% of all German workforce.
he dried with a squeegee which can actually leave worse scratches than a machine wash so i wouldn't say it was the best wash either tbh

Excellent detail video and nice stories-line.
The comment section is brutal, I drive a silver car as my daily, I regularly take it to one of these to get the salt, rocks etc off my car. Salt does irreversible damage to cars while swirls can be removed.
So basically the manager has the cleanest and most scratched paint around...
These new carwashes dont really scratch the paint of a car anymore. The only time it will leave scratches is when there is like some dirt or something stuck on the cloths.
@@ThenameisOskar Thanks for the reply, but incorrect. There’s always debris stuck to the brushes. Even brand new, they will pick up the dirt from your own vehicle as it washes it and scratch the paint. The only way to not damage the paint in your vehicle is by (properly) hand washing. Cheers.
