Ali was pissed not at frazier but at Mike Douglas for not even having the decency to tell him that frazier would also be on the show - Ali showed his class by simply staying cool
Ali had no class. Be serious please.
@@realg5276 He had a lot more class than you think. But he's also pissed at Frazier for intentionally dissing him by calling him "Clay." Joe did that and yet spent his life whining about Ali calling him a "Tom"
This was in the beginning where Joe Frazier was doing the trash talking..once Ali signed the fight of the century he took the trash talking to a whole different level..the people who think Ali was too hard for Joe than this film is the proof Joe started it
@@realg5276 that's y he is the most written about person in history
What are you talking about?!
One of the best rivalries in boxing. RIP to both of these legends.
Ali was very gracious.
Rest in peace Muhammad Ali The Champion
rip
Never seen Ali soo quiet.
abrahem rafi Ali didn't expect Joe to show up on the show!
@Christian Puth He was 38 when he fought Holmes, just like Joe Louis was 37 when he was KOed by Rocky Marciano and Holmes himself was in his late 30s when he was KOed by Tyson. It's called age, and ill-fated comeback attempts shouldn't count.
And frazier
Joe will always be my favorite fighter . these 2 guys had the best fights ever in heavyweight boxing . we will never see such greatness ever again .
Same here plus Ali ran off his mouth so badly at Joe who advocated for him. He stabbed a friend in the back it seems like.
Joe is happy being world champion something wrong with that ? Guess you wasn't around with Muhammad talks slick so many times before they fought in the ring .... Joe is very proud being champion at this point, what's wrong with that ding dong
I met Joe Frazier in the Philadelphia airport, I shook his hand and I immediately knew why he was a champ. Very nice man. Ali actually owes Joe quite a bit... Joe helped Ali when he was down on his luck. Ali never paid him back or show any appreciation. Joe was a class act and Ali just a big mouth.
Nonsense
Ali betrayed Joe , Ali was a racist against Joe it was disgusting @@drpaine7428
Ali even made Frazier laugh. Incredible
I agreed that Ali is, arguably, the GOAT. But as Ali himself said, "Joe Frazier is the greatest of all times, next to me".
@@rickytpb2164 he quoted what Ali said though, he did exactly what you said
I think Ali said that before Forman knocked Frazier silly lol the real GOAT is George Foreman. Nobody could stand toe to toe with big George, Ali knew that which is why he needed to lean on the ropes cover up to let George wear out if big George would have made Ali come back to the center of the ring every time he leaned on the ropes he would have knocked Ali silly just like he did Frazier.
jimmy c Ali was the greatest. Foreman and joe are neck and neck with eachother just behind him. Marciano and Joe Louis are up there also. There competition back then was unfortunately underwhelming compared to the mid 60’s till the mid 70’s ...
Yeah but the ring was bove there handicap so bottom line Ali played it smart and won so was the better boxer.
And Foreman was in top prime and Frazier his top prime was a couple of years earlier.
MUHAMMAD ALI IS "THE GREATEST" BOXER SINCE CASSIUS CLAY...
LOL
😂
Holmes said, Ali is overrated.
@@philfrank9226 Holmes said that plz he's nowhere on Ali or George Foreman or Frazier level.
Holmes tried to mimic Ali and ended up looking like the tin man..wonder how Ali would have looked if he didn't get his license suspended cuz he looked flawless vs Williams and right after that fight or maybe one more he had it suspended.those 3 years would have been his ultimate prime
When I look to these old clips I wish I lived there time .. And you can see how the time went like a blink of an eye 49 years ago RIP both of them.
I lived it & yea, the blink of an eye.
I grew up right around the corner from Ali childhood home. Louisville KY, Mr,Ali Will always be my hero. But I have a great deal of respect for the late great Joe Friazer. God bless them both.
I've never seen Ali so uncomfortable and his humour still shines throughout the interview.
Ali was a quiet nervous type as seen here but under the influence of drugs he became hyper, out of order.
@@jamessmythe1891Ali didn't need drugs to put on a show, nor to articulate himself well and have humour. Also, you wouldn't call tyson fury 'out of order' would you white boy?
@jamessmythe1891 shut up bro, the reason he's like that in this is because he was at his lowest point in life where he couldn't fight and wasn't making money. He was only a loud mouth when it came to the fights cuz it's good publicity and it helps build the fight up
@@jamessmythe1891you don't know what you are talking about, drugs! What a stupid thing to say
@@jamessmythe1891 anyone that lies about ali is a clear racist.
rest in peace 2 total legends X
Ali as always been the greatest.
then you don't know much about how he treated Frazier.
They were so made for each other. Epic.
There is so much tension here between Joe and Ali.Both great warriors who gave it all in the ring and then some. Anybody who disrespects either Joe or Ali's boxing ability is a complete idiot. They both beat the crap out of each other all 3 fights. RIP Smoke.
amen
Are you a seriously that simple?... you really think Ali didn’t know Joe was coming?... This “tension” took two boxers to historic levels. They both knew what they were doing.
grigsolve right on! Ali and Joe were actually were quite close during this phase before Ali got his license back to box. In his Autobiography Ali explains in detail how he and Joe agreed to appear hostile at each other in public to generate interest and create a strong gate for their epic battle. It wasn't until a year later in the months leading to their 1971 fight, that Ali began to call Joe ignorant and Uncle Tom which really got under Frazier's skin and their hostility turned more real.
@@mpakwood I dont believe that for a second. Ali dis-respected Joe Frazier immensely. He called Joe Frazier things you just should NOT call any1.
Ali its much biger than anyone else in ring
some guy below said something I'd like to give a thumbs up for but can't, so I'll repeat what he said: Mike D is a D for starting out the interview by asking Joe, 'What do you call Muhhmad?' to get Joe to say 'Clay', and ambushing Ali by not warning him Joe was coming. It's not subtle and it's douche baggy. Ali is genuinely pissed here, I think
Yeah I agree..Ali usually trash talked and fooled around publicly with fighters when he was promoting an upcoming bout ..here he is low key that as you rightly say means he's a bit annoyed..there's a lot of tension there, but Frazier is the aggressor, and Ali is just realistic..it could easily have got nasty with the host agitating for the viewers, but thankfully Ali was quite calm...Ali was an opportunist; he played up to the cameras when it suited him..
Frazier had every right Ali back stabbed him after Frazier gave him money paid for his licence and got the black community against him by calling uncle tom his children got harass Ali made Bryan gumbel print out an article bout Frazier being a white champion in black skin
@@afsanaparvez6112 Frazier gave Ali a small sum of money and it was in his best interest to so
@@som1980 - Agreed! Shame they couldn't be 'friends' but the politics of the time meant that Ali was thinking about freedoms, the state of world affairs, religion, politics, peace, human and civil rights, so he was also representing Frazier in that sense whereas Frazier overall, seemed to represent the system by publicly criticizing Ali for not joining the army etc., and even though Frazier lobbied for a return of Ali's licence, lent him a modest sum and gave him a ride from Philly to NY or vice-versa etc; that was not totally altruistic and he still refused to call Ali by his name from 64 onward, even though he was aware of how Ali hated that and before his exile had terrorized Patterson and Terrell for that same reason. Frazier was resentful, not Ali. Ali's jibes were cruel but they were both engaged in a war of words during their careers - Ali's are just more memorable due to its content and articulation plus Ali transcending sport. It was because of the profile Ali brought back to the HW division after beating Liston and defending several times with all the hoopla of predictions, a new style and all of his charisma - plus his comeback - that Joe earned the big purses when stepping in during his exile but Joe never seemed to publicly acknowledge that or Ali's greatness though Ali eventually did so about Frazier. Understandable why they could not get along.
@@afsanaparvez6112 Your problem is that you were brainwashed by that stupid HBO documentary that came out 10 years ago -"Thrila in Manila." But that shit was nothing but pure propaganda. Ali didn't back stab Joe in any way. This film clip took place in 1969 while Ali was still in exile, long before he engaged in any pre-fight hype. It was Joe who was the one going on the offensive here. But when Ali calls him a "Tom" for dissing him by calling him "Clay," Joe would whine about it for the rest of his life. To say that Ali had black people turn on Joe, including Bryant Gumbel, is total bullshit. Although there were blacks at the time, like Bryant, who resented Joe for calling Ali "Clay," and thought Joe was a Tom for doing this, black people had minds of their own and didn't need Ali to tell them what to think To imply such would be an insult to the intelligence of black people.
"7 days from the fight you will be a week old ghost!" brilliant
Ali was the Champ of all champions Rip Champ
Ali trying not to laugh at the lady in the crowds laugh lmao
Ali head down and had a smile when joe was telling that Ali said him to leave the town
Our two handsome CHAMPS. RIP Guys 💖

Amen.
I'd be absolutely furious if I was Muhammad. Being invited on a televised talk show to be tricked and used like this. Joe's first insult was also pretty low. For a fighter, Muhammad really knows how to control his anger.
Ali had matured to some degree since his clashes with Floyd Patterson and Earnie Terrell. But Joe definitely paid for that when Ali's license was reinstated.
No insult Frazier gave to Ali was worse than the stuff Ali said about him. Frazier helped Ali financially when the boxing organizations stripped him of his right to make a living. Ali betrayed Joe by calling him an uncle tom which was not true and unfair. I was and am an Ali fan but let's be real. Ali started with the insults.
@@rudimwongozi2169 nope joe started right there calling him Clay ,if you can't stand heat.....Ali was just better at the trash talking and come on now that kind of talk go on in the hood everyday ,and Joe was weaponized by the establishment against Ali ,the only way Ali was going to win that first fight was to ko joe in the 1st to get a split decision points victory lol
@@richardbranton7396 it went on for years. Ali was immature and his ego was up. If Frazier was used or "weaponized" as you say against Ali it wasn't Joe's fault. So the uncle tom stuff was below the belt. Especially when Ali knew (and the public didn't) that Frazier had helped Ali financially. So the calling him a gorilla and stuff was below the belt and wrong. Frazier was wrong for calling Ali "Clay" but on the other hand Joe knew stuff about Ali that the public didn't know. He didn't think Ali was actually living up to everything he was representing to our people in public. I'm Muslim and was on Ali's side and against Frazier at the time. I didn't know everything then that I know about that situation now. I have come to the conclusions I have come to over these many years. Ali was a hero but no saint. And not above reproach. There's enough blame to go for both of them. Ali is still the greatest and I'm glad he prevailed in the trilogy winning two out of the three contests. But my opinion of Frazier has evolved over the years. Joe Frazier was a great champion and a hell of a man.
I will say that in this particular instance on that particular show I don't like what Mike Douglas pulled on Ali. As Ali said them white guys like Howard Cosell, Mike Douglas here and dudes like Dick Cavett did try to "instigate". It got them ratings.
3:54 onwards "7 days from that fight you'll be a week old ghost" best joke ever
Both were great god bless them
These two gave the best entertainment ever you can tell Ali was just joking but Frazier took it personal got so furious he kept on smokin
Joe frazier was a great fighter and a great man,god bless him. This was an unjust interview, ali was in bad situation, gov was against him, they took his title,he had no hope and nothing was right for him.Joe was at his best physically and mentally,he was in his prime but ali wasn't after 3,5 years layoff,he beat ali and no doubt that joe was a great fighter. But ali came back beat joe twice and regain his title in 32. Ten years after his first title fight.
Both legends and they brought the best out of each other.

"7 days from that fight you'll be a week old ghost." my man hahaha Frazier probably didn't get it at first haha
Wow I only got it now myself 😂 ffs Ali is too legendary
A week is 7 days. Ali is saying, in the fight, Frazier will become a ghost, (Ali will kill him) hence '7 days from the fight' he will be a one 'week old' ghost. Talk about breaking it down :) ;). Just joking.
or maybe ALI meant .. "this guy is parading around with my title, challenging me on a tv show that he just popped up on.. but if i ever got a "License" to fight (realize this was done when ALI was not allowed to fight.. ok) ... "if we ever fought, a week after the fight.. you would be a ghost".. as in NOBODY WOULD REMEMBER OR CARE WHO YOU ARE.. Period

I don't know who downloaded this film clip, but I'm certainly glad that they did. It shows that Joe Frazier wasn't the innocent saint that HBO Manila doc made him out to be, and why Ali called him an Uncle Tom. As evidenced by this video, Frazier would insist on calling him "Cassius Clay," and Ali called him a Tom for doing it, just as he did Terrell and Patterson when they, like Joe, didn't respect his name change. But when Ali called Joe a Tom for doing this, as he did to both Patterson and Terrell for doing the same, Joe spent his entire life whining about it. But it was just tit for tat.
The way you spew your opinion reminds me that opinions are like ass holes everybody got one
@@jonhaynes1577 So what did he say that was incorrect? Go on.
He didn't call Terrell and Patterson gorillas and walk around in big gorilla suits taunting him and punching gorilla dolls. And their kids didn't get bullied in school.
@@jahleelx9270 He called them both Uncle Tom's, called Patterson a rabbit and punished both of them on the ring. Frazier was no exception, Ali didn't ask or want Frazier's kids to get bullied in school.
@@jahleelx9270 But he called Patterson "The Rabbit" and presented him with lettuce and carrots at his training camp. He also called Liston "The Bear" and brandished a bear trap. These were just gimmicks to promote fights and to say that he was a making racial attack on Frazier by calling him "The Gorilla" is just stupid. As for Joe's kids getting bullied, well, the media was more so to blame for this than Ali. Going into their first fight, it was the media that portrayed Joe as the champion for the right wing conservatives and Joe certainly didn't help his case much by insisting on calling Ali Clay as he does here.
They really disrespected Ali in this interview... Absolutely disgraceful! 👿😳😡
It was all in good fun.
If anyone deserved it it was the mouth ali he disrespected just about everyone with his smart ass comments
The way he called them out on the racist culture back then, refusing to go fight people who never called him the N word, they weren’t truly happy with him. Bringing Joe in unexpectedly to the show, and the unexpected humiliation Ali got, it’s a wonder that Ali treated Joe the way he did. Calling Ali Clay was the ultimate insult! To Ali, that was an Uncle Tom move. Hence all the name calling. Ali had so much class!
Ali was a racist angainst Joe who helped him out so what are you talking about?
It's a bit... Ali was fine.

Joe calling him "Clay" was to antagonize him the same as Ali called him "Uncle Tom" amongst others names.
Dexter Reid This is the first video (and I’ve seen mor than most) when Frazier’s giving more than he’s getting and I’m glad about it because Ali was such a tormentor to him and foreman and it was always hard to watch because those two could have him just as easily as him them.

Appreciate life it goes by fast
Look at the fights so many times the are all classic the first was the greatest of them all rip 🙏 both gone to soon
RIP mohammad ali
This had to be around early to mid 1969 because they were talking about a POSSIBLE bout between Frazier and Jimmy Ellis to unify the title. That fight actually took place in February 1970 and as of this interview the contract hadn’t even been signed yet.
I think in 69 they were talking about Ali fighting Frazier in Toronto since he couldn’t get a license to fight in US
Havent seen this before - fantastic to watch them both trying to outsmart each other - Just doesn't happen nowadays.
Ali was a special one-of-a-kind human being, but Joe Frazier was every bit his equal in the ring and a hell of a kind and decent man. Love these two- no one will truly ever reach the legendary status these two achieved.
JOE FRAZIER WAS A INSPIRATION&GENTLEMAN
Joe Frazier is the man that gave Muhammad Ali trouble
Ken Norton gave him the most trouble
3 & a half year lay off is gonna do that to a man fighting legends. Prime Ali? 67 Ali? Oh boy, Joe and Ken would be knocked out.
Ifs and buts. Shoulda, woulda...... don't mean shit
+Bruce McPhail They both did. But Ali even said that if he had to ever go to war he would want Frazier to be at his side. that was the biggest compliment he could have ever given him.
it's becuz of those trouble Ali become what he is today! the clitchko brothers are boring even though they were winning. but they are nothing special. Muhammed Ali was more than only a boxer.
Ali is the GREATEST OF ALL TIMES...
Drug cheat of all times
Agree wholeheartedly
Ali and Frazier were the best thing that ever happened to boxing... Both were good men... If Ali had to do it over he'd be nicer to Joe... after their 3rd fight in Manila Ali was full of praises for Frazier for his heart... I think it was in Manila that Ali apologized for some stuff he had said... Frazier said some mean stuff about Ali after Ali got sick but later said was sorry... I think before Joe (RIP) died the two made peace and Ali went to his funeral...
You are being VERY convenient with what you say. Ali said that if Joe beat him? Ali would crawl on his hands and knees across the ring and congratulate him. DID Ali do that? Pft. Then later? he told Joe's son to pass a message to him saying that he apologised. Wanna know what Joe said when his son gave him that message from Ali? Joe said, 'if he was a REAL 'man'? he would have come himself and told me'. So in my book? Ali may have been the greatest boxer, but when it comes to being a 'human being'? Joe Frazier surpasses Ali by a mile.
Joe, you tried talking the talk...just could not walk the walk.....Ali! Ali! Ali!
Lemme tell u sum boi Frazier did both walk the walk and talk the talk
@@abdulaidainkeh2756 Joe was a great champion. He definitely WALKED THE WALK. But he never could TALK THE TALK against Ali. That's why he was so bitter against Muhammad. Any fighter who called Ali CLAY had hell to PAY.
duprez2 I agree ur definitely right
smokin jow being cocky right now but later he realizes how great ali is and becomes humble . Little does the agitating interviewer know of how they will become best friends and great rivals
Frazier was always humble. You've got your comment the wrong way around. It was Ali who talked the big game and got fucking embarrassed on the night. Who was looking up at the ceiling in the first fight? Oh yeah 😂
These men were never best friends lol
@@therealc.t.7085 They were frienemies. Deep down they both had heavy respect for each other.
@@urma3137 Maybe Joe shouldn't have started it then? Especially not when Ali was still in danger of prison, not returning and he was out of shape. Ali gave Joe a taste of his own medicine.
Rip Winkle respect, yes but Joe has never liked Ali. Ali didn’t hate Joe though.
Ali was smarter than Joe. Ali never encouraged anyone instigating two of them to fight! He Said, “ Mike you’re agitating”. So intelligent!
He looked pissed abit from my point of view cause Joe Frazier called him Clay. The both were great boxers and the end of the day.
No ....joe call him clay....to make him angry....and Ali is ok to get called as clay from Joe...Ali said in interview
Actually, he was VERY pissed at Joe for calling him "Clay," which was why he retaliated at times by calling him an "Uncle Tom" for doing this. But yet Joe would spent the rest of his life whining about Ali calling him a "Tom," but was too dumb to realize that he was the one who instigated that.
Respect to both!
Both of them knew how to build up an pre fight atmosphere..
Ali was three years off ! Joe could never beat Ali he his prime
Again called him Clay when his name’s Muhammad Ali.The man’s name is Muhammad Ali
@I'll figure it out But he called Joe "the Gorilla" six years AFTER this TV talk show, and this talk show was two years before their first fight, so how the hell could it had been retaliation on Joe's part?
@I'll figure it out But Joe was the first to actually mock Ali. So did Joe time travel and then retaliate?
Rip Winkle actually it was Ali a good few months prior who started calling Joe dumb and slow, on a black radio show, after Frazier had helped him out financially. So Ali had pretty much slagged Frazier off to his own people, and ofc bc he’s Muhammad Ali, they ate it up and accepted it.
@@oscallibur5597 Please back that up with a source.
First of all Ali started that whole thing as far back as '67 when they ran into each other they both knew they were and Ali started joking about the clothes he had on..So why is it when other fighters dis respects him then all of a sudden they are wrong???...Here this man helped you out but as soon as the camera is on he starts disrespecting so to me "CLAY" is really the "UNCLE TOM" Making white people laugh by giving and calling other fighters names all the while he supposed to be a righteous FOI "FRUIT OF ISLAM" So to me he was not that at all...
This is the one time Frazier held his own verbally with All. He had some Good exchanges and always said he could have played more Games than Ali if he wanted to. This makes me Believe it
He held his own "verbally" because Ali chose not to retaliate and give that White talk show host the satisfaction of seeing two Black men fight each other on TV. Joe could compete with Ali in the ring but he was no match for him in a verbal exchange. That's why he became so angry and wanted to fight Ali after Ali called him "ignorant" on the TV set several years later. But was the instigator of the argument that lead to a brawl.
ali and fraizer were are incomplete without each other
This is why Ali was so brutal verbally w Frazier. The forgotten unpublicized disrespect shown by Joe on this show sheds light on what Ali called Tommin for the white power structure. You can clearly see how hurt, humiliated, and down Ali is on this clip.
Joe has his reasons for doing what he did on this show. Don't act like Ali didn't do anything wrong to him prior to this.
@@hammad9091 What did Ali do prior to 1969?
Rip Winkle If you wanna know the full story, look up the book Ghosts of Manila by Mark Kram Jr. Basically Ali went on a radio and started talking smack about Joe Frazier unprovoked. This confused Joe as he thought they were friends and Ali tried to explain that this was all to hype up the fight and Ali’s all just business. Joe wasn’t about hyping fights by doing these kind of things, so he took it personal. Ali continued his verbal on insults, so Frazier responded by this what you see in the video. That’s how their bitter rivalry started. I love both these men, ignorant fools gotta stop shitting on one or the other without knowing what really happened. Both men made some mistakes. But both remained great and were amazing human beings as well.
@@hammad9091 Yeah I understand. If only Joe understood the purpose, those 2 would be great friends. And if only Ali calmed the smack talk down although as you said he explained it was just fight business.
@@hammad9091 I don't know of anything that Ali could have said prior to 1969 that would be viewed as extremely insulting. He may have said things to the effect of "Joe's not the real world champion. I am. He's just an imitation champ." But this was long before the pre-fight hypes of calling him "ugly" or a "Tom." Kram's book, like that HBO thing that came out years ago, was too biased and slanted to Frazier to the point that it was just propaganda.
Ali was the champion he never lost the belt in the ring.they stripped his title from him for refusing to go in the army.im a Vietnam vet I've heard hundreds of other vet say that it did not bother them at all he had the right to do that he'll thousands of guys went to Canada thousands used the college excuse so he stood up with his religious belief.they did him a terrible injustice to ban him and take his title.thats my opinion...he was the champ at that time.
Anyone know what the tune is at 0:21 when Joe Frazier comes in? Thanks.
It's easy to love Ali but you learn to love Frazier as well
Exactly!!!
This is one of the most interesting interviews of Ali I've ever seen. I was confused with his behavior until someone said that he didn't have his license back yet. He was not going to promote any kind of fun, bragging, or taunting Frazier when he didn't have a license to fight. Frazier just didn't understand it. This was the greatest fighter AND fight promoter of all time. Ali was an absolute genius outside the ring and above all else, a total class act. Poor Frazier, he was one of the greatest fighters of all time, but he really was very stupid.
Frazier was irritated because most people didn’t recognize him as the champ. It takes a small minded individual to call him stupid. He and Ali did become friends and I don’t think Ali would appreciate anyone calling his friend Joe Frazier stupid.
@@robertbutler5286 Frazier perhaps SOUNDED a bit "dumb" but he was NOT. Also, this interview was while Ali was STILL banned and I was really shocked to see how cocky and trash-talky Frazier was here. Daniel Craig Ishantthakur123 Who's the idiots?
Ali looks quite heavy here. Ali and Frazier didn't like each other but the respect between them was immense.
Notice how quiet and subdued Ali looks and sound, no drugs, no screaming and shouting.
Not only skill boxing , but talent and kharisma Mohamad Ali which one make the grtest.
This was extremely low on joe fraziers and mike douglas's part as they both tricked ali and tried to make a fool of him on national tv.
+nightowlhooting he's coming for you too.
+nightowlhooting You're a sick person. It's disgusting how you disrespect someone like that. You clearly need to educate yourself
+nightowlhooting no wanker he was not just a celeb. nor was he just a boxer. He worked hard to promote civil rights, took a stand where he refused to compromise his principles and beliefs and has engaged in significant amounts of humanitarian work and acts during and after his retirement. why don't you actually go read about the man before spouting ridiculous ass comments. Bloody idiot.
+nightowlhooting he did.
+nightowlhooting, that was really silly to say . . .
May Allah rest your soul Muhammad Ali, you are always the best.
R.I.P.
Never saw that footage in prison, the inmates were luvin it.
When Ali reply "7 days from that fight you will be a week old ghost", everyone laughed and Frazier looked confused.
I was confused 😂
Joe whupped him bad in that fight, probably gave him Parkinson too.
@@timsmith2279 Nope, an accumulation of fitghs gave him Parkinson’s. Plus, Frazier didn’t come out of that fitgh looking pretty, Ali had a swollen jaw and Frazier had a swollen face and spent two weeks at the hospital, Ali went on a winning streak while Frazier laying on his bed
@@reinaldomanuel8488 Are you dumb, use your brain. Joe gave him permanent brain damage. Ali was a fake, chosen by African leaders . He was a drug cheat a former street criminal, a bike stealer who shared platform and agreed with the KKK who wanted all blacks seen with white girls killed!
@@timsmith2279 Frazier never won a meaningful fight again after his fight with Ali. Over two years Frazier only defended the title twice against two bums and than ran into Foreman. Ali fought something like twelve times during those two years(which in hindsight probably wasn’t a good idea). Ali took more out of Frazier in the first fight than Frazier took out of Ali.
Poor Slow Frazier. To see how foolish he really is look up Frazier with Bill Cosby on the Dick Cavett show. Ali was 100 times bigger than Slow. And for those saying Slow whooped Ali's ass the first fight also include Slow Frazier almost died after that fight and was in ICU for a month in the hospital after that fight.
Ali was so mad because they took his license
If indeed, they didn’t let Ali know Frazier was going to be there, the that was pretty shabby. Muhammad showed his class here.
Ali looked very nervous, subdued, probably he didn’t take his usual drugs that made him mouthy, scream and shout.
mike douglas really pisses me off here. that aint right to surprise ali like that and antagonize the both of them. reminds me of jerry springer.....
It was Frazier who started the feud. Calling him Clay. Ali has no licence here. Nobody knew if he ever will box at this stage. You can see that he(ali) is angry but he cannot talk much because he had to be humble to get his licence back. So frazier started this shit. Muhammad finished it
Joe gave Ali money when he wasn't fighting. Joe helped Ali get his license back. Ali was calling Joe all kinds of names and tried to embarrass him at all times. So Joe gave it back. Ali treated Joe badly when Joe helped helped him. Stab in the back.
@blite13 Factually incorrect. Joe may have supported him because he wanted that fight. This interview here CLEARLY shows that Frazier was calling Ali "Clay" (the worst insult to Ali) as early as 1969!!! Some have argued Joe was saying it back in 1967 and his management team also often referred to him as "Clay". People like to claim Joe was this innocent guy in the whole affair and its horsecrap. I mean come on dude, it's there right in front of your eyes. I think he was rattled by some of the things Ali had been saying out in public about who the real champ was and all that, but that was Ali. There is nothing on record of Ali "turning his back" on Joe before this interview or calling him those cruel names that he did, certainly not to the extent of what took place afterwards and before their fight in 1971. I think this played a part in why Ali layed into Joe so much. My two cents. God bless
@@blite13 How in the hell could Frazier retaliate as early as 1969, the time this interview took place? This was two years before the first fight and long before Ali engaged in pre-fight hype, which was something he did to all of the guys he fought. Ali hadn't said anything to Joe here and it's Frazier going on the offensive. Many like you overstate the money Joe lent/gave to the point that you imply that Joe was paying Ali's living expenses and that's bullshit. But what ever money he lent Ali and his efforts to help Ali get his license back were not done of the goodness of his heart. He did it to get a lucrative payday with an Ali bout.
rip muhammed ali and joe frazier
Ali was a professional fighter. I saw him fight and he was really good. Very fast. He talked a lot. Frazier was lefty. Very tough. Both were professional boxers
