@mikeheitczman1521 Understanding what you are saying. If I could change what I am going through I would, I was hit by a person 14 years ago, said they never seen the back of my car. I have had 6 back operations and 4 neck. My back was broken in 3 places and my neck was dislocated. If the lights help stupid people see better, I am all in, just so I don't get hit again.

When you said Putco was 10 years ahead of the other tail gate light companies, I didn't realize you were talking about the price.
Their prices are insane! Get yourself a a Roma aluminum channel with diffuser cover from Wired4Signs, an Addressable 12v COB led strip from SuperLightingLED, and a Blueghozt v2 module from Ghozt lighting. You can have your own fully custom version for under half the price! (And make it as wide as your trucks bumper gap actually is to fill it all the way instead of having dead spots on the ends where Putco comes short)

I want so badly to learn how to make something similar & develop a similar product like that lightbar, but in a large rear halo for a small production run on an iconic low production classic car, but I don't know where to start to learn & make a quality product. HID Planet? Sourcing overseas for the PCB boards. I'm sure approaching PUTCO or a few of the other well known mainstream companies would be an exercise futility, & the R&D cost alone would be going down the Rabbit Hole in my quest......I have so many ideas & designs, but they'll end up as just dreams taken to my grave!

Awe, Don, you did it again. I now have to have the Freedom Blade for my 2022 Silverado. Putco is an excellent company so I trust their quality and design. And it is sure cool!! Thanks for the video. No thanks for the $$ I will spend to purchase and have it installed. Might try it myself, but we will see.
Bought mine from “Online LED Store” for around $60.00 Full size Silverado 2017. Very bright sequential turn lights. Very cool and noticeable amber. License plate light and reverse. Been on the truck now for two years plus. Ez hook up with adapter plug. I did put led license plate lights and new led reverse lights on the truck it’s self. With the tinted windows a little hard to see before. I would recommend this light over the others that I’ve seen hands down. I’ve only got to see it on the road from behind twice. But you can’t miss it.
Honestly, it does not get a nicer than what Putco put together you did a great job on the install very impressed as always, absolutely phenomenal, Donslife does it again.

Im a sucker for a good light bar for my truck. Trust me mine goes out. I'm immediately buying another. Been looking for one with the night rider effect. Was super excited watching this video. Then I saw the price. Drop it down to $300 for the whole package and you got me. But $500 plus the remote is overpriced.

Got this same 60” (and the Freedom work? blade for grill) for my 2023 AT4X back in late April (pre-ordered in February). Didn’t think it’d ever come, but was very impressed once installed. For some reason, using the clips just wouldn’t clear the tailgate after several test fits. I ultimately ended up removing the holder clips and used double sided tape the full length (then noted such on PutCo FAQ page). Worked perfectly. A couple weeks later I was showing to a co-worker and he pointed out a burned out led, to which I was extremely shocked due to PutCo quality. A quick email to support and they shipped out a replacement. Since I had received one of the first batches, I think I may have pushed on the delivery date too much before all the burn testing was actually finalized. Support was more shocked then I was and made it right immediately! I’ve yet to swap it out due to the time yanking off all that dbl-sided tape and cleaning it all up again, but when I do, PutCo wants the other one back to find out what could have happened with a single LED going out. I think that says a LOT about quality regardless if I ended up with the one bad LED… Pretty sure PutCo doesn’t make their own LED bulbs, and with each bar having so many, there’s bound to be a dud somewhere. I can’t say for sure if it was bad from the start or not, but had it not been for the premium price, I likely wouldn’t have been so put off by a single tiny bulb. Thanks for your videos Don! Wish I could find the time.

@@uzelessknowledge We finally got to install one on an AT4X today! Fuse location 92 (Same as the "Active Shutters" ). Sorry for the delay... these high-end models are impossible to find... but we finally got one!
@@PutcoInc well, it’s off and in the hands of UPS on the way back. Literally just got it sent back Saturday. Pitty. Pretty sure I tried 92. Every one I tried was ok on first start but after shutdown and sitting, on the next start caused issues. Yes, these new trucks are smart. Even Don suggested running into the cab through the firewall.

@@uzelessknowledge wish I would’ve have seen this earlier. The issue is likely the fuse holder. If you put the fuse that came OUT of factory location into the incorrect slot on the included adapter, truck WILL throw a code. The adapter requires you to put TWO fuses in, the OE amperage closest to wires, and light bar one outside. If backwards (or didn’t put both fuses in), system will detect the (for example) 15A fuse in the 25A location or vice versa and throw code. I actually just forgot to put the second one in before being too quick to trying it out, kept getting the error on dash as well. Was at a loss for a second after adding the second fuse (in incorrect position) and got code again. Took a step back and it hit me. I swapped fuses around an voila! Not an issue since. So, If you used one of the 15-amp slots and put only one 15-amp fuse in the adapter, same problem. I used shutter (slot 92 apparently) as well for the 60”, and used the DRL slot for the grille LED (can’t recall location number). Definitely need to get the 60” swapped and back to PutCo so they can do some burn testing. Hope you got issue resolved and didn’t give up altogether. Very impressive quality & setup!
Just a heads up there is a different L & R brake light harness connector shape appearing on the refresh and randomly 22 up tail lights. 19 to most 22’s use the one shown. Always compare those first.

Love your videos, have you had to change your brakes on the GMC yet? I can't seem to find any good videos on changing them yet... Apparently it's a little different with the electronic parking brake.
I am not close to having to do that job yet. But since they incorporate wear sensors, you’ll likely need the appropriate scan tool to reset them too or you’ll trow a bunch of codes.
Just finished the under the hood LED mod yesterday on my “new to me” 2020 1500 Denali. Next is the tailgate step LED then the Putco blade. The Freedom blade would be awesome but the price tag is a bit much, so I’ll be doing the standard Putco blade. Can you do a Short video on how you installed the blade without taking off the tailgate? Hi Don, another great video. Unless I missed something, when I followed the link this new light bar is only for the bigger pick ups. Though I know yours is a 1500. Putco has guides for each of their products including the front DRL bars. I might be doing something with their product in the grill too

what about where the spare tire release rod goes in that area? there is a hole back there to slide the crank rod that lowers the spare tire. seems like it would block that hole. has anyone put this right at the bottom of the tail gate and not under neath it? thanks

Theoretically I think this is possible as long as you don’t lose current with the extra connections and cable length.

Go to 7:34 in the video. It shows exactly where I put it. It is one of the AFM/DFM fuses. I recently relocated it to the interior passenger fuse panel because I didn’t like trying to fish the wire out of the water resistant under-hood box.

Does the Light effect you back up camera or can set it up to be bright white light on backing up for trail hitch boat etc. ?
It doesn’t wash out the cameras. It adds some light to assist with hooking things up to the hitch.
@donslife I am having a very hard time wiring the freedom blade on my gmc. Where did you fish out the wire from the battery through the firewall? A lot of help is needed here
I laid under the truck and ran it along the frame rails with the other wires that already exist there for the trucks other systems. There are lots of spots you can use cable ties to secure it

Glad I didn't get a light bar for my 23 Sierra yet. I want to get one installed before fall since I really need more light when backing into my driveway. When it starts getting dark earlier, it becomes a bigger issue. I'm also glad to see that the install doesn't require pulling the taillights out. Not sure where I saw that, or when, but it made me hold off on getting a light bar. From what you showed, the most difficult aspect will be positioning the clips so that the tailgate works properly. I'll probably get the remote control as well, just to make it easier to program it up. How long before you have a discount code? What % is that going to offer? Saving a bit on the $636 for the setup would help the purchase. Glad to see they offer free ground shipping (always nice when companies do that).
Pulling the tail lights is stupid easy. 2 T15 torx screws on each light then just pull straight back unless a Sierra is way more complicated than a Silverado.

Putco tech recomends fuse #90. That's the front air dampner spot. It's where I installed mine 😉

question for you, the Freedom Blade driver box doesn't have the power wire with the solderless connector on it. there are 2 blue wires. which wire does the power wire from the fuse box go to ? i am currently installing the blade on a 2023 GMC Sierra at this moment. Update: I called Putco & i Cut the blue wire and connected one end to the power wire from the fuse tap. After a few troubleshooting steps with tech support it is determined that the driver box is faulty. A new driver box is on the way. I will post an update after it's installed. OK driver finally arrived ( first box they shipped was empty 😮) installed the driver, and remote programmer all is working great now. I definitely recommend this product 👍. Don thanks for your guidance on installing. up date#3 check engine light came on 8 major ecm error codes and 55 others. dealer cleared codes this past tuesday 7-25 as they were all electrical and the truck was driving fine. well check engine light back on today 7-28. dealer trouble shoot and said it due to where the putco blade fuse tap was installed they removed it. i called putco and yes they are aware ot the problem and suggest i plug in the fuse tape to #3 spot ( the left front headlight) the tap cant fit in there without me having to cut the fuse box cover. thats not an option. i did find a spot #55 the trailer backup lamp. so far the blade is working & no check engine light on yet. i will post an update in a few weeks.

@@walterwessels5158 thanks i did cut the blue wire as it looped in the wire harness and connected the end that came out of the driver box, hat didnt work so putco sent me a new driver box with correct blue wire setup.

Wild prices for a Putco tail light bar the same of which I installed on my 2012 Laramie in September 2016 for $100.00 plus Cdn tax of course.I had to have 3 of them replaced over a period of 4 months due to faulty and partial signal and backup lighting not working and this week I had to toally remove it due to the same problems.

Does this use the same harness as the regular blade? As in, could I switch the old blade out with the freedom blade, add in the brain and just connect to the existing harness and run the power wire? It looks like it uses the same mounting clips also?
Yes. The quick connect harness is the same for both blades.

Up here in Canada, every new truck (GM and others) that I have had a wax treatment on the underside. No rust issues, just a preventative measure from the manufacturer.

Great work man! Love the content you put out. I got a question for you. I had the freedom blade installed right before Thanksgiving on my GMC Sierra. Its been fine but this morning, I go out to start my truck and the battery was dead. When I went to crank a random lights flashed off an on my dashboard and my power running boards stayed deployed. I keep my lights on auto so I dont have to mess with them. I notice when I exist the truck at night the light bar switches to the white light until the lights turn off. My gut is telling me the light bar might be draining my battery. I ended up jumping the battery and the truck restarted but now the check engine light is on. Have you had any issues with your battery since installing that light bar?
I haven’t had that problem but I also made sure the dedicated power wire is on a switches circuit.

@Donslife when you exit the truck at night does your ight bar switch to white light until the convenience lighting turn off?
@@oscarreynaable yes it turns white and stays on with the courtesy lighting. The truck locks itself automatically and shortly after all of the courtesy lighting shuts off

I installed my light bar now the truck thinks there is a trailer attached all the time and am using the harness ! Ahh I used a different connection to the trailer plug in lol
That's how we used to connect them up in GP! The Smart Trailer tech doesn't allow for splicing into the 7-pin harness at all!
Is it supposed to disable the original tail light functions as shown in your video ??? I definitely wouldn't want that. I was interested in installing it on our Class A motor home.
Maybe the editing made it seem like the taillights weren’t acting properly. I assure you, everything works normally still. I had to cover the ambient light sensor on a few shots to show some footage since it was pretty bright outside
Fun product but in several states a signal that does more than a constant blink is a no-go. If the cops pull you over for something else, that becomes an add-on to whatever they're writing up.

@@Donslife Animated turn signals (the chasing effect on the left and right turn signals) are a no-go too in many states. In WA for example the law says "(b) Flash in unison. Except that a turn signal consisting of two or more units mounted horizontally may flash in sequence from inboard to outboard. The lamps may either be extinguished simultaneously or lighted simultaneously." Since this fixture is one piece it's counted as a single unit and cannot use the sequential lighting feature.

@@Donslife I’m not sure if they have a special version for Middle East cars or even aware it is different than the US ones , very nice lights btw , I was never a fan of under the bed long bar lights but this one is really different .
I think it would work if the vehicle came out of a US or Canada assembly plant
Donslife, I am new to your channel. What is your opinion of the blue tooth speakers and lights combo. I see old videos, but nothing recently . Was it a fad, or did it not work well?
Welcome to the channel! Which bluetooth speakers and lights are you referring to? I did a multi pro step light video and they work awesome. The kicker system I have heard mixed reviews. I stayed away from it due to our severe winters. I felt they wouldn’t hold up
Thanks , yes, I have the two lights as well. I agree with you about the winters , I think it could be a problem for me as well. Just the salt and stuff they spray the roads with is really bad. How about the Omni 360°? I will be receiving my new 2024 GMC Denali, most likely next week. It has Google built-in. Do you think the Omni 360° dash cam would interfere with it as it comes with navigation? Actually, I really only wanted it for the Night Owl security feature. Let me know what you think. @@stuartcormiea5222 I tested the Omni 360 (prerelease model) and found it to be good for a budget cam but not the best either.

Not at all. The taillights will function normally. This is just a demonstration of installation and programming
One thing…I didn’t see the turn signal on the truck working. Looks good though…price to high. Thanks for sharing your video.
The install and setup were the focus of the video so the taillights weren’t going to behave properly since we were only in the light bar configuration mode
Just installed mine on my 23 at4x. Everything works but there’s no startup animation. It’s like it skips it and just goes straight to regular function. Any idea why? Thanks 🙏🏻

One could be poorly crimped or something. Also I don’t know which circuit you tapped but some are temperamental.

How did you get power to the remote? Whenever i talk to putco they keep telling me to run another power wire just for the remote.
The remote has its own wiring diagram on the website but I tapped the power from the main 12v wire running from the fuse panel to the driver box.
I can’t get the start of sequence to work only if I disconnect the power and reconnect it does the start of sequence work
Doesn’t sound like it is connected correctly. Putco has a technical help line too if you get stuck
@@Donslife yeah I talk to them a few times today they were Supposed to call me back today and never did. they told me for my 2022 Silverado, LT fuse wire plugs into the number three fuse was still doesn’t work and my truck sat for a few days and the drain my battery

Looks cool. But why didn’t you actually show it working. When you turn on your signals and brakes? Would’ve been nice to see the tail lights blinking with this light bar
