    • @Jeremiah-Joshua Hudson I had American Dobbies. 1 Female Red solid 80lbs..She was very bossy. Then we Had 2 Fawn Males, both where 90 lbs excellent dog very friendly but very protective of our family. Then We Had 2 more black and tan females. They where so pretty and both really sweet and definitely more of a lover then a guard dog, but they looked scary. I'm a trail runner, so all the Dobbies where pretty "jacked up" from running trails and mountains with me....The female's matured around 2 yrs old and the males matured around 2.5-3yrs old ...4 of the Dobbies had there ears done like a guard cut smaller and 1 of the males had floppy ears...we had alot ear problems with the floppy ear. I am highly recommending getting there ears clipped..easier to clean and little to no maintenance...

Brave, strong, fast (you will never out run a dob), intelligent, VELCRO dogs, silly, playful, easy to train, eager to please, etc...etc Our Dobermans have always been adult rescues. I'm currently snuggling with my 3 year old Red Dobe...Penny Lane. She is SUPER protective of me. She was shy/fearful and somewhat aggressive when we rescued her. She is now a confident, loving, happy, well trained dog. Penny Lane was 1 year old when we adopted her, she is by far THEE easiest dog I have ever trained!!

I’ve never had a dog more in tune with my emotions and state than a Doberman. The surroundings can change but the Dobermans protective nature and bond with their owner won’t. Intelligent and fearless are the words that come to mind right now, so much so I haven't forgotten him. The dobermans may not be bred with erect ears but nature says it is better for them. Also, don't worry, they dont feel a thing when they get cropped, it's always under anesthesia.

  • Thank you for sharing, your Dobies are gorgeous. I’ve owned dobermans my whole life and I’m well into my 40s. They are the only breed I’d own. Until 3 years ago all my dobermans have been rescues, I’m really enjoy working with Doberman rescues and helping displaced dobermans, so all my Dobies has been American. Then we lost our Dakota to an osteosarcoma , of course it was devastating and our other Dobie Indiana was depressed, though I could never replace a Doberman who passed I always have two, I find having 2 is good for the dogs and I just love the breed so much I wish I could have 100 😊 anyway there were no rescues at the time so I went to a breeder for the first time, i had been researching for weeks when Dakota got sick knowing no matter how hard the vets and I tried he only had a few months. So I found a good breeder thru my rescue group actually got to meet some of the breeders Dobies who lived out here in Colorado near me and temperament and health of his dogs were great. They are a long line of show on the moms side and protection on dad’s & the parents are European from Belarus. I write this just to say wow now that I have a European I see the difference from American. Atlas (the European) is very work driven , he has to work. He is trained as all my dogs are because they go every where with me, including the up coming St Patrick’s day parade where we march with our dobermans to spread the word about the breed and about Doberman rescue. So my dogs do have to be very social and be able to listen on command. But working with Atlas and now that he is 3 and really grown into his personality and is coming out of the teenage years, I find all Dobies go thru , it’s like a switch is flipped at 2 1/2 -3 and they grow up 😜. His main trait I find is just how protective he is, now I know every Doberman I’ve owned would protect, its part of who they are, they would lay down their lives. But Atlas is beyond anything I’ve seen, he knows instinctually to stand between me and a threat, he “patrols” his yard before he will pee. I won’t bore you with all the details but it’s amazing to see the instinct in the European and he is larger then the Americans I’ve owned and all muscles. He’s my “red head” ❤️. But now that I have a European and worked with him and seen just how smart he is, I’m torn, I love my rescue work and rescuing a Doberman who needs me but we are looking at getting another this summer, Indie our black rescue is getting up there, and I need a service dog due to a medical condition that will just get worse, so I need a strong Dobie who can help me up when I fall and can help do small tasks, so I’m struggling whether I train a rescue or get another breeder. Plus my husband wants the service dog to go thru basic protection training, not for shows or competing but to protect me on command, as I said Atlas would protect but he is not trained to release on command or give a warning and I physically could not run after him if I had to. We did have one of ours protection trained many years ago before we had kids and he was the best so smart (RIP Parker). Anyway thank you for sharing your beautiful dogs and watching them is helping me decide what I want in my next Doberman. May I ask who was the breeder and/ or are you breeding your male?i figure I need to start researching breeders again. I love Atlas and his line and the breeder was great but I want to explore my options because this next Dobie will be more than a family companion , he will be a beloved family member as they all are but also a service dog and protector . Have a great day.

  • Thank you for a great vid. I love the breed I have now a Lagotto at he moment - an Italian working dog. Really sweet and hungry for work very active. I hade temporally two doberman brothers during a couple of years and just fell in love with the breed I had never encounter the commitment for protection and dedication to please and love for the master. Now I heard that the best breeds at the moment are in the NO-EU zone as, Serbia, Ucraine, Russia etc. in the east block. I do not want to buy a dog in the EU zone. The regulations are not in favor of the breed and serious owners, love to get some feedback on kennels in the east European zone. Thanks again!

  • This guy makes a lot of sense and knows the breed (Dobie's) quite well. As of 11/21/18, I have a 5 month old Dobie girl. Abby, is my 7th Doberman. Dobie's are extremely confident and have quite a bit of drive and intelligence in them. Most are extremely smart which is a paradox for the owner. Sure the dog is smart and can do some incredible things. But at the same time it can get the dog into trouble for being too curious. My Abby just finished up basic obedience training and now working with her to protect the family and her turf which is a few hundred acres of land. Roughly 8 acres is cleared out and flat the rest of the land is trails and some natural openings. Every thing we do is a teaching moment for her. She is well socialized with dogs, other animals, as well as people. BUt she is learning when something is a potential threat per se. What I love about the Doberman's is they are a people dog. They want to be around their humans. My dog can go outside or come in when she wants. However, when I lock up for night, she is inside...on the bed between my wife and me. She wants to please and wants to PLAY a lot. Her baby teeth care beginning to come out. And on Monday she is going to the Vet to be spayed. Just an excellent breed to have. I love ALL dogs, but will always have a Dobie in my household as a family member.

  • you are so correct. I walk and jog my doberman late at night , due to the stupidity of my city. Pleasant Grove, Al. They decided my doberman (akc fedor del nasi, altobello, pride of russi, BETELGES, kimbertal, AND so many i cant spell. The cropped ears on my doberman, let me know what he knows , I dont know. Now, My St.Roch ( patron saint of dogs) is not scared, we visit the nursing home smokers in the evening during our walk/ jog. He lets them pet him. we bring treats now so they can give them to Roch. I talked to the nurses, and I bring sugar free hard candy. St. Roch is our local real doberman. But, he is not scared. We were walking past the 2 nursing homes, it was around 10 p.m. ( my city said I had to muzzle him , because he is viscous, but the government says my doberman is best for wounded veterans) Well all the afternoon and evening cops ( small city) they told me , dont muzzle St.Roch. So , I dont. But I saw his ears move, cropped, one night. he wanted to eliminate the threat, not scared, but can turn a corner and kiss the old folks. I started walking in the direction he was interested. I thought oh its one of the many wild cats. Then about yards from the direction we were going, I saw the glow of a cigarette. Now, I just said to Roch, no we are not chasing wild cats. He is to protect me, alert me, I am not looking for a fight, much less get my Roch hurt. So I played like I did not see and say. hey it is time for your monthly plain cheeseburger from JACKS. They are used to us doberman through the drive through. But you bet in the drive through I was texting local cops, and county. That is how it rolls in Dixie. And we are sipping sweet tea with our multiple color friends, and just laughing at the rest of the world. you know it is getting harder and harder for the reporters to find that special sotherner you all like to group us in after a storm. Darling, we all try to help her, the rest of us in all colors are in our undergroud bunkers with all the conviences, then we stay in longer to watch the networks come find the few that just wont take help. Bless your hear

  • Great video! When searching for a breeder look for a breeder which produced a working line dog. A lot of people go to back yard breeder expecting all dogs are equal and they are not. Having a good trainer & breeder is very important to having a good Doberman. Possibly only about 6 breeders I would buy a Doberman form in the USA! Trust and body of work are the most important to having success! Remember in America people are all about money and they are only about 40 IPO 3 Dobermans in the USA. Testing temperament & health of breeding stock is very important for a breeders success! LJ Kye Dobermans
