The repair was a success! This is definitely the best way to remedy the issue with the subwoofer on the LS430. This kit was around $20 and sure beats the price of a new subwoofer.

Above is the link for the repair kit for those who are interested.
Thanks for watching!
Come on man did it work can't believe I didn't put at the end of a video a shot of it in the car working
Thanks for posting this. You inspired me to finally do this. I did it today and wow, the transformation in my stereo is amazing.
Just finished my repair last night. Car sounds LOADS better!! I have a sneaky suspicion that my door speaker(s) may also need some love.
This works perfectly. Anyone can do it. I did mine on on a 2005 Lexus LS430. Works perfectly.
Can believe such an expensive sound system in a Lexus has cheap foam and rubber, and to replace the Mark Levinson speaker is between $500 and $600. great video thanks from Vancouver Canada.
Thats the biggest thing manufacturer skimp on is audio, throw some paper mache sub and speakers and its fine..crazy.
thanks! now I know what I need to do to repair the sub on my 05. kit ordered.
Thank you so much form Spain! it's a shame the engineers who design these things don't see these flaws. I’ve have a Lexus GS 300 2004 2JZGE, and I saw on some webs that these problems are very common, because of the heat that is into the car and also de sun that goes directly through the glass to the speaker foam! Thank you so much! Justo ordered my foam! Hope this solution works!
The engineers do see the flaws, but they have to build the system at a certain price, and the foam last 10 or 12 years. That's longer than the average buyer keeps a new car. They couldn't care less about 2nd or 3rd owners.

@@edjackson4389 Exactly. I'm an engineer but not for the automotive market but the principles still apply. They most likely tell the engineers to have this designed to work for X amount of time, because 10, 15 years later, usually the cars are on 3rd owners, have been destroyed in accidents, aged, etc, and assumed it's not important at that time to have the best sound as if it's been brand new.
Love the video. Zoom in on the work area when working. No need to see you or your workspace
Your vids are awesome dude
Thank you so much!
CRC Brake Parts cleaner or other brand is actually an excellent cleaner that evaporates and leaves no residue when using adhesives (glue lol) or paint.
Great video; I'd just add that you need to use a straight tin snips to remove some of the deck liner. I ended up just replacing mine with another good used ML sub; someone had tried to fix the old one with silicone caulk. It's trashed. Anyway, thanks for the directions.
Thank you for the video.
dude!!! i just did this literally like a month ago! this is off the ls430 forum on clublexus
Brothers I’m about to take the day or two to work this out my LS. I actually found the Kit on eBay and received it already before this video popped up in my suggested. 🙏🏼🖖🏼🤘🏼
LS finna be BOOMIN
Patrick Mason Now I can do the Strube
Thanks, for great info. Please do other repairs on your LS430. New subscripted.
Same problem on my 2004 and I just removed factory sub, planning on doing same fix. I found that it hasn't been tampered with but the foam on my outer ring (top and bottom) basically fell apart on me and I scraped remainder off. Do you know where you can buy replacement foam for that or does it not really matter once installed?
Oh hi, Mark
For those interested my LS430 sub was 12.9 ohms.
Did you repair it or replace it?
@@johnroeper3515 I re-coned it. It works fine now.
I was playing a frequency to open a portal and draw in spirits and that speaker in the back started smoking. Is this repair applicable?
What apple play adapter do you recommend for my 2005 Lexus LS430 ultra?
Great video. What are the symptoms of the sub that this repair would fix? My 2006 LS 430 developed a consistent rattle/buzz in the last week that kicks in with bass, pretty sure it's coming from the sub.
You hear like a metallic tapping noise
I have LS460 with ML sound system, I went to replace two speakers and they told me i can’t use other brands cuz the system will not recognize it !! Is it true?
Can you post an update video with music playing ?
Why subwoofer just doesn’t seem to function at all. No sound from the rear deck. Should I just replace it?
Hi so i have a 02 ls 430 and one of the white subwoofer clips is missing from the cover.Do you know where to find these ?
They’re cheapo clips you can buy a set of like 50 for $7
Kyle, thanks for the video. What is the best tool to cut out the back deck to remove the sub with? Could you drill out 4 access holes for the bolts or would the sub still be too large to remove? Can you take a pic of the sub with cover on to show you can't see any of the cutting to the deck? Thanks.
Tin snips. They sell them at the hardware store. Works perfectly.
Given that I am not handy, what say you to replacing the subwoofer with an aftermarket one in the $100 - $200 range? Is a refurbished Mark Levinson better than I would get new in that price range? Anything unit about the fitment of the Mark Levinson. Also, I am not sure if my system is Mark Levinson. I don't see that marking anywhere. Thanks
I’d recommend the oem speaker it is 16ohm and designed for the infinite baffle (no box) Refoam is not very difficult just make a mess and need a torx screw driver and a 10mm socket
All speakers in same condition like this sub))
Thanks. Just going to replace mine with a jbl sub to make it easy.
Which model JBL did you buy? Was it a good fit?
@@johnroeper3515 I went with the jbl stage 810. Works just fine even though it's a 4 ohm. Stock is 8 ohm.
I bought an 07 ES350 with Mark Levinson audio. Subwoofer went on then off then finally off does not work no rattle or movement. Front center Dash speaker went out paid $250 for it. The next day playing music; the Rear Header Speaker blew out. Any idea what might be the cause? CAR WAS WELL TAKEN CARE FROM ORIGINAL OWNER. WITH 108K MILES
Your comment is 3 years old, but I will replay it, the issue certainly is oem amplifier as it had sent an overload voltage to the speaker, as mine also had the same problem, I just installed a new aftermarket amplifier.
How is the sound since you installed it? Good? Bad?
Way better
Thanks very much, I’m fahad from Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦❤️
ي عسسل معي 460 وسماعتين عندي خربانه رحت ابدلها وقالو لازم نفس الشركه مارك ليفنسون و اي سماعه غيرها يحرقها النظام وانا قد سمعت كذا هل هذا صحيح ؟؟
Did you cut the wires or is there a place to disconnect them.
You can unplug them
How did you take off the ring
There are four torx screws you remove
does this work for 2006 LS430?
Yes so long as you have the ML sound
Did it work?
Maybe Someday yes!
!!! Goo gone = BAD idea when using adhesives or paint unless you strip ALL the Goo Gone off. It is Kerosene based and it oily!!! No stick
thanks for this, when I saw the use of goo gone I thought, oh, I have some of that laying around. And I won't be using it now. I have an LX470 and my sub failed as well.
When are you doing a face reveal?
Right now
A fckn paper mache subwoofer..smh and people call these older mark levinson sound systems high quality..
ねえ、あなたの兄弟レオと結婚させてください❤️❤️🥰🤞🏼
That sub sucks lol. That speaker is a hunk of junk, just get an aftermarket sub. Any sub will sound better than this piece of shit.
true, im doing 2 after market 15" subs with a double din screen
Lexus uses a 12.5 ohm woofer, you CANNOT just install another sub, most subs are 4 ohms. It will damage the amplifier over time.
