Selena acting skills are incredible!
I was going to say the opposite😂.
I like her. But i don't think so.
I think he’s being sarcastic. I hope 🤞 🙋🏻♀️
lol "acting skills"
*Selena's acting skills are incredible!
i’d literally watch an entire season of this talk show
Same
Oh? That’s good 👍 . Bye Kit J!
That's good..
That's good
omgsaaaaaame
The "that's sah, that's good" was so iconic. This skit was so funny 🤣😭😭😭
I so love that these are two actual Mexican women! Makes it even funnier!
it isnt an impression if family members talk like that, then its just natural
@@ricodelavega4511 That doesn't really make any sense. If you don't sound like that usually and you're mimicking even your family members...That is an impression. Plus who's to say they have family that speak like this.
Melissa's probably like 1/4th actual Mexican. And SNL's so afraid of twitter criticism that they wouldn't dare have a non-latina play roles like this anymore. That's sad.
@@hankmoody7513 huh, she's from El Pueblo de Los Angeles. She's full Mexican. I think you're thinking of Selena who is half white (anglo).
@@ricodelavega4511 I'm talking from a genetic standpoint. She's clearly got a ton of european in her.
"Cathartic? What's cathartic?" "When it's good to be sad" Damn lolol that is the best, shortest poetic way I've heard that
Low key deep! Das good!
3:07 is pure gold lol...she delivered that so smooth and so well.
That's because she's Mexican American. I like to say she's my cousin ☺️
Selena Gomez is freaking hilarious in this and didn’t break once that’s impressive I’d be dying of laughter 😂
She almost did right at the end but covers it with bending down with the compact
"My dad was Batman??" lmaoo
Selena's "Mmm, like what, though?" in response to the book pile is my favorite part of the sketch.
That line was the best! I think that was adlibbed by Selena. It was so natural sounding, the audience didn't quite recognize the skeptical, unimpressed colloquialism. Puro Selenas! jajaja
So good to see Melissa in a primary role in a sketch. She is criminally underused at SNL.
:) Yes!
Thats sad
Absolutely underused! What a waste not using her talents more.
That sucks.
I feel bad, but I really don't like Melissa! I can't put my finger on it, but she really gets on my nerves! She's too animated or something. I know comedy is about exaggerating to a degree, but it doesn't work for her. Anyway, others like her apparently and she deserves good paycheck, as we all do. I wish her the best.
I will never get tired of "Bye Chah!!!" 😂😂
3:22 the way Selena and the other girl were doing backup vocals it sounded like a 90s west coast song
I can't believe it but this sketch actually worked LOL! All credit to Melissa & Selena for the insane timing

Her cultural observations are on point. As a latina, I overlook them. They looked like they were having fun with these characters.
I love how the Los Angeles Mexican American accent is portrayed in this skit, Melissa & Selena Nailed it . I reminds me of the East LA, Downey, Whittier, Montebello local Dialects.

She kept it hood. Selena is doing a Puerto Rican or something else. 😂
I read this as keeping it loca 😂
Ever since Melissa told the story of “thas sah” months ago she’s been trying to get the character on air and she finally did it! So happy for her lol! Also was a hilarious sketch too so thas goo

I wish Selena would play more characters like this… this is hilarious.
That’s sad she dont
Yes! They put her in an Irish and medieval British ones. Have her do more stuff like this sketch and hispanic stuff!
Dahts saahd.
Why? So she could portray us ACTUAL Hispanics like we’re unintelligent and uneducated to her white audiences?
@@Patricia-lc1ikNo one is going to argue with you. If you feel that her performance was offensive, you should just articulate that instead of initiating a dispute. Selena demonstrated her acting range. I was impressed. I think she should do more character work. She’s half Mexican. I trust her to make good decisions on what represents her and her fans best. If you have a problem, you should send her a tweet. If I thought like you, I would be in Keenan’s face EVERY WEEK about how he portrays Black people.
"My dad was Batman?" . The best part of the sketch.
😂
Hahahaha

Only good line. Made me hope.. briefly
You turned your bad dad into a sad rap, dat good.
I grew up in Pico Rivera 3 blocks from Pico Park. My jaw dropped when I saw this episode.

Melissa and Selena are outstanding here. This reminds me of that vintage recurring sketch ,Bronx Beat with Amy Pohler and Maya Rudolf
I was just gonna say!! Definitely Bronx Beat vibes
Selena was a convincing chola
Also check out "Hoops" with Jennifer Lopez. Surprisingly hilarious.
"Vintage Sketch with Amy Pohler" Man, I feel old. This could also is similar to many other sketches over the years, of two ethnic people having a weird talk show. See: Two Wild And Crazy Guys, Hanz & Franz, Coffee Talk W/Linda Richman, and on and on.
No. Not at all. Who on earth were the writers last night?
I've said it before, I'll say it again. More Melissa please. Way way more.
Her smile alone makes me laugh.
Thats good
SNL won’t do it because they don’t like Latinos. They push the black cast on every skit but they don’t rep La Raza. And that’s sad.
Omg putting pico Rivera on the map.. this is so accurate
I was thinking about this sketch the other day and I’m so glad i found it! I love these two ladies!

Selena playing with her hair when she tells Becca the librarian hanging out with books is “saah” is such an important detail. As a woman who grew up in LA and was part of this culture in the 90s (lol), we def played with our hair when we talked. 🤣🤣
She did an amazing job playing the role, the gestures and the accent to the facials. 👌🏽👌🏽👌🏽
Yo idk why but I really like this style! I grew up on the East coast at the same time in the NYC area and this definitely was not the style but it always attracted me. She looks Soo cute!
@@martialartistgamer8572 me too. I was always attracted to girls that looked like Selena does here. My first crush was at a high school freshman dance. There was a girl that looked just like her. I was so intimidated I just stood near her scared to talk to her or ask her to dance.
At one time, it was like a thing that if a girl played with her hair when she spoke to you it was a belief that she liked you lol
Subliminal seduction?
"She hangs out at the library with the books" lol😂🤣
My mom does it as well 😂
"That's sad... That's good!" was a nice touch in the rap 😂 Melissa is awesome!

"Do you guys have that Cat in The Hat? That book is so funny." LMAO. Good sketch.

I appreciate them putting the spotlight on how close the community of Pico Rivera is because you can clearly see how they are very welcoming and real with everyone. Growing up in Pico Rivera I wouldn't want to have grown up anywhere else. We have deep rooted values of how to care about eachother, support eachother, work hard for what you want to achieve in life and are very resilient. There is so much pride and homage in this community where we always have eachothers back. This style is the chicano style which is all over but we are a mixed community as well. We are very accepting of everyone. We don't all dress or talk like this, no offense intended. But we are all very respectful and we do have a sense of humor and are very laid back and live life to the fullest enjoying the most important moments!

Isn’t that a slur
@@DeathnoteBB no, cholas are the names for female Latin American gang members, specifically those living in SoCal
@@DeathnoteBB no, unless you're intentionally trying to be insulting, but no it's not
@@DeathnoteBB Well In modern usage in the United States, the term "cholo" usually indicates a person of Hispanic American descent who is associated with a particular Southwestern style of dress. The term is used in Caló slang, but it in turn has infiltrated into mainstream American English use, specifically in association with American cultural subgroups such as the "lowrider" car culture, or the hip hop scene in general or “street thug”. It depends on the tone of how you use the word towards other Hispanics.

@PeaceSeeker049 are you Chicano living or raised in the 562? Because I am and this was funny because it IS relatable. Cholo culture isn’t bad, and it’s everywhere in the area of East Los around Pico.
