    • Only funny part of the skit. Lizzo remains terrible. The Asian guy has never been funny. Aidie Bryant plays the same exact character in every sketch. The black dudes are funny enough. It’s just a blah show anymore.

  • I used to think their lyrics were dumb, until I traveled to Thailand, India, and a bunch of other countries and heard people who spoke very little English singing along with these songs at every bar. I realized it’s actually genius, they have huge global hits that don’t need to be translated.

    • Hate to sound hipster, but I have. It's the Ole Tubthumping rip. They actually made a horrible song to prove that people are stupid enough to eat it up. Which, ironically, is very clever. So is it a success, or a failure? 🤔 meh, I'm up at 4am pondering such things. (The snl skit was fun). Afterthought: it's not horrible, but it is a horrible earworm. Nickelback sux, just thought everyone should know.

    • This supports the notion that record sales depend more on luck than skill. You could also argue the BEP was the first sign of the human species declining. Somehow we became so lost that we appreciated garbage lyrics and beats from them. No advanced species would value their contributions.

  • The listener just endows the lyrics with meaning with their own impulse to move and have fun, making the audiences impulse the subject of the song. Their songs are about timing, impulse and beat, creating a sense of spontaneity. Imagine how much of a musical genuis you have to be to make an audience go excited with only “boom boom pow”.

    • well it took a bit for me to get into pop, but I was there before black eyed peas. I grew up on rap. rock and roll was always cool too. And black eyed peas is still great to me. a fun party song to mix it all together, bring it on. ever been in the military or any setting where people are from everywhere and listen to their own genre mostly? drinking coubtry songs, hard and party rap, pop or rock and roll....well THAT'S the place where black eyed peas shine the most. Put that on and EVERYONE feel like a PIECE of what they like is beinf represented.
