  • Late to the comments but I have a great true story: The dog that barks at the meteor at 4:30, his name is Riggs. He was a stray at Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in Abington Township, Pennsylvania, where I worked at the time. The movie's executive producer, I believe the woman holding Riggs in the scene, stopped by the shelter one day. She said they were looking for a dog with a distinct bark to be in the movie. They were filming A Quiet Place 2 in upstate NY, not too far away. We immediately recommended Riggs, our boisterous hound dog. The woman took Riggs for the week for filming. Upon returning with him, she told us how she had fallen in love with him. Of course, she ended up adopting him. A great story with a great happy ending! Miss you Riggs!

  • The part that always bothered me was the simple solution.If your monster is blind and only attacks by sound,all you have to do is rig an explosive charge and ring the dinner bell.when monsters show up you set off the charge.

    • If you watched and understood the movie you'll get to know that the monsters where indestructible they were basically like superman skin that's why humans lost the war against them, the break through was when they discovered there weak point under there armored skin

      @evansojuka1399@evansojuka139910 ай бұрын
    • The problem with that: 1) you have to have said explosive charge. 2) they're armored and appear bullet proof, it may not harm them. 3) setting off the charge could draw more in since it appears there's enough to destroy the modern world. 4) you have to be able to do all of this without making any sounds as they may hear and get you before you set it up. If anything, 2 very tall poles spread very very far apart, attach a string with a device that makes sounds in the very middle. They should stand under and try jumping, since they're blind they wouldn't think to climb the poles or anything (I'm talking like, 100 foot high poles and 500 foot spread, so they can't assume those poles are related to the sound)

Now I payed closer attention that the cruisers beep after the siren was turned off is what drew the creature to it like echolocation. @redpapa859@redpapa85910 ай бұрын
    • Well that's the biggest plot hole. A meteor that size would obliterate everything for hundreds of miles. There would be a massive fireball, shockwaves, it would be like armageddon in all directions. They literally never felt a tremor or anything, so either it hit further away than they thought or it did indeed slow down. We don't actually see a meteor, we see black smoke. Some think it's a ship, but these creatures don't look smart enough to build things. We also don't know their biological composition, their planet (like their skin and biology overall) could be something we don't know or understand, elements we don't have on our periodic table. Perhaps the "meteor" is composed of something that isn't effected by our planets gravity the way a normal meteor would? Maybe the composition is something lighter, so as it comes into the atmosphere it almost slows down. Imagine a typical birthday balloon willed with helium, at first it would rise up to the sky, but after some time they slowly float downwards - it's because helium leaks through the latex, so perhaps either the meteor has some form of helium (existing or unknown to us), or perhaps a chemical reaction creating it, or something entirely different with that effect.

      @michaelsheppard9499@michaelsheppard949910 ай бұрын
    • Air resistance in the atmosphere definitely would slow it down, though. Still, this scene is not very realistic.

      @hansgans297@hansgans29710 ай бұрын
    • who says its even a meteor, when you consider how many of these things there must have been and how quickly they spread, whats to say it wasn't just a large clump of them holding onto each other and they spread by dropping off bit by bit as they fell. This would also explain how they survived entry into the atmosphere and the impact. Even with their natural armour, those forces would be too high for anything with soft tissue under an armoured exoskeleton to survive unless they had some become ablative armour for the colony. As for it been a ship or them been a bioweapon sent to elimiate humans and the meteor been a delivery vehicle, what alien race in their right mind would send something that can't swim and drowns easily to elimiate life on a planet thans 2/3rds water. Especially something that hunts by sound to a planet were there is litterally sound everywere, these things would spend 99% of their life chasing insects/birds probably straight off cliffs or into rivers.

      @cgi2002@cgi20025 ай бұрын
  • I don't think it's realistic for everyone to just pack up and wander home when they see the meteor or whatever. Many of them would just stand there in awe watching until it hit. I probably would.

  • I still have yet to check out this one, but if I was a character in that universe, my reasoning behind what these things are and why they're here is that they aren't the invaders of earth or anything like that. Instead they're actually a weapon sent by malicious invaders of some other planet to weaken and purge the life of our own planet, just to make invading us easier for them. Why do I say this? Because honestly... look at them. Does anyone really believe these creatures could ever get to the point of splitting the atom, understanding the concept of escape velocity and mastering space travel, let alone even know basic math or how to start a fire by rubbing two sticks together?

There's no way all people had enough time to come to the conclusion there was a monster, to start with - and the one's who hadn't seen anything but responded to or had been swept up in the panic wouldn't just immediately accept being told there's an alien. It's nonsense - there would be hysteria in that diner and people asking what's going on, asking others if they're insane, and crying out, "Oh my God - is it terrorists?"... There is just no way that there would be a church stillness in that place, with only one guy praying - the attack scenes in, 'Cloverfield', managed to do this, perfectly: nobody could keep their damn mouths closed for even 1 second, out of fear and anxiety. It's what would happen. I do like the QP films - and the writing is generally really strong - but there are a few important things that are really just ridiculous that a better writer would never have allowed: such as the staging of this build up. It doesn't work.

  • So many things bothered me about this set-up that disracted me... Everyone just immediately quietly evacuates in an orderly manner, without being told - well that's just not likely! They'd have to be told to leave, would mostly ignore it, and would then stampede when the reason they were advised to leave became an obvious threat. Hardly anybody recording - that's not believable: everyone would stand there recording the atmospheric entry, getting closer and closer to get in front of each other and get a better shot, until the time came to stampede. No impact from that thing - which you could explain, but nobody even mentions it. That diner scene was ridiculous: practically everybody just suddenly knows it's something to do with sound, and to be quiet - within 10 minutes?..How?! There would be all kinds of screaming and wailing in that place and people talking different garbage - imagine strangers stuck in room together, while even something like bees swarm outside, just being quiet... No way - you'd have to kill someone to get them to shut up: but everyone here is just like mice when there is some alien monsters tearing up the town... The behaviour was really annoying - the supporting characters were asked to behave like convenient game NPC's, not like actual people. It really broke it for me - weak spot in the writing.

    • They didnt knew it was alien invasion. If they knew that thet would have done same thing during game when they saw actual aliens screaming and running. And hiding in restaurant it is natural reaction to be quiet while hiding from immitent danger

      @megha6865@megha68659 ай бұрын
    • @@megha6865 Of course they didn't know it was an alien invasion? That's the point of the story?.... I don't think you've understood: the general behaviour at the game was totally unrealistic - and hiding from imminent danger is natural, but to act as if you know in advance the specifics of that danger, is certainly not. They were made to behave as if everyone in that diner had far more understanding of the exact danger, than they possibly could have. Are you seriously trying to suggest there wouldn't have been general chatter if not hysteria in that place that required more effort to suppress, than putting a hand over one mumbling man?... Real people just don't behave like that - _until_ they understand that silence is significant: and those people couldn't have all known that absolute silence was significant and, even in general terms, they grew quiet, much too quickly. Have you seen video of people trapped by hurricanes, or tsunamis? The 9/11 attacks?.... 'Cloverfield', did, "We need to all hide in the 24hr store", really well.

    • I can not begin to explain how absolutely STUPID the last few sentences of this comment are, of course most of them would be silent in the diner. Just 10 seconds ago they were running away from some unidentified creature that was just mowing down hundreds of people, they would obviously be in shock and awe at the situation and would most likely be trying to process the situation they are in. Not even accounting for the fact they are also trying to HIDE from said creature. They would 100% be quiet in this scene, and you have 0 reason to support that they wouldn't be. The only point I do agree with is the fact of the recording, which is absolutely true. Most people would be recording in this situation.

  • The first movie was great and small in scope, focusing just on one family. But the second "prequel" instalment should have had a bigger scope; focusing on the global astronomical community detecting the meteor, and maybe a conspiracy by the government to silence whistle-blowers to avoid a public panic about its imminent collision with the Earth. It's an old trope sure (see Deep Impact, ID4, etc.), but done well it still stands up, as this would probably be a realistic response by the government. Obviously, the impact has to occur onscreen, as well as seeing the emergence of these creatures from the impact site or from the sea (a la Cloverfied monster) if the meteor landed in the ocean, and more of the carnage wrought on the general public, which is only glimpsed briefly in the actual prequel they released.

  • I always wondered how those creatures/monsters/aliens managed to survive the impact of the meteor crashing into the ground, but then I saw one of them hit that police cruiser, and it told me everything: They're protected by a layer(s) of extremely dense material, and have immense density as living organisms, allowing them to survive the meteors impact, which is more powerful than any bomb humanity could ever produce, but could also survive anything mankind tried to throw at them. best way to deal with them? Sneak around, put something loud on a boat, and hope to all the dark gods in the universe that they can drown in water, or be dumb enough to be buried in lava or magma.

    • External protection is not enough. If your terminal velocity is high your internal organs and soft flesh will crash against your own armor. There is no chance for a thing that size to survive a car crash at 100mph. It would suffer from internal damage that would not make him able to survive. A sack of blood. That's why we ahve to accept some premises in Sci Fi, for the sacke of the story which otherwise could never ever happen
