Search and rescue helicopter mission to Greenland's ice sheet! (This was incredible)
In this video we board the Airbus H225 SAR (search and rescue) helicopter operated by Air Greenland on behalf of Denmark's Joint Arctic Command. They take us up on a training mission so that we can see the helicopter in action and see what it's like to work the hoist and pick up an injured person from the snowy wilderness of Greenland, on top of the famous Navigator's Rock at the edge of the ice sheet. What an incredible experience. Part of our Greenland series, filmed in September 2021.

Serious respect for all men and women who serve anywhere in Search and Rescue.
Proud to see our helicopters in action! Great video.
Thank you!
Wooohoo, my friend Marco (the pilot 2nd from left) in the introduction .. Great guy 🙂
This is a side of civil aviation you don't see every day. Very eye opening and fascinating to watch! Thank you!
I worked as a field exploration geologist in Greenland for 2 field seasons (2013 and 2014) on the Nuusuaq peninsula and around the island of Uummannaq. I have to say that I have never met such awesome pilots as those that work for Air Greenland! Got us in and out of some really tight spots.
They are really the best!
Gabriel, you are one lucky chap. What a fantastic experience flying over such beautiful terrain. Those SAR chaps are heroes. Keep posting these fabulous videos. 👍
Awesome video. Loved the Greenland series. These guys are legitimate vikings saving lives- much respect, extremely cool job. Also- how beautiful is Greenland? Definitely on my bucket list.
Thanks Edgar!
Yesssssss
😊😊
😊
I thoroughly enjoyed this video thanks for the content
Interesting video. I am surprised you weren't wearing a helmet .
Stunningly Beautiful ❤️ Great video ❤️ Thanks 🏴🇬🇧🏴
Outstanding video!
Thank you very much!
Pilots in Greenland are one of a klind - And I have the priveledge to work with them every day im on duty in the flight information center (FIC)
This is brilliant. With guys as brilliant as these men I would put my trust in them. Stay safe everyone 🙏
What an amazing experience! Thank you for sharing, and producing this video. Hopefully I can make it to Greenland soon.
Ouw....great content🚁👍🏻
Glad you think so!
Great content! Thanks for the trip to Greenland!
I love the old but still capable sikorsky s-61
Thanks for sharing! Also nice with some Swedish....
Yep, you'll have noticed one of the pilots was Swedish. The helicopter pilots in Greenland come from all over - in fact the Danish ones seemed to be in the minority (as opposed to the fixed wing pilots where many are from Denmark).
Wow Wow Wow!!
Thanks!!
Whoa, You lucky g....... ....!!!
this heli type is used by the Swiss Army. It can also fly forest fire duty.
And I read on a travel blog about a hiking guy hurting his foot in water and was evacuated
sikorsky?clearly that is Airbus
Used to fly Sikorskys key words there are used to
First
Why the rescue helicopters and fire fighters are painted red?
Easier to see!
hi love you video pls go to qaqortoq 🎉
Most of the time this guys put the life at risk to rescue someone because of their stupid actions
I would never set foot inside a 225. But nice video (:
Why not?
For instance my dad had travelled multiplie times with LN-OJF that was the helicopter involved in the Turøy accident. In 2016. After that there has been no 225 in Norway in use for offshore trafic.
