Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks cryptocurrencies have value - but he's not convinced they can replace the U.S. dollar in settling oil trades. I've thought about that a number of times. The answer is no! Not even if Hell freezes over will you one day see a POTUS give an interview to any Russian MSM outlet. Putin, however, has done it time and time again in spite of the recurrent total lack of respect for the office of President of the Russian Federation. Bluntness is not the same thing as rudeness.
When Biden met Putin in Geneva, he didn't allow any Russian journalist at the press conference, while Putin answered question from Russian AND American journalists. I guess this answers your question.

Please note, he is very smart and has good manners: he is always polite in communication, never interrupts the interlocutor, always listens to him to the end and only then answers. At the very beginning of the conversation, when the CNBC correspondent thanked him for the interview, 0:08 - he also thanked her in response. But, Putin did not have time to finish his sentence, and the translator did not translate it, because Hadley Gamble interrupted him and began to ask questions. Putin did not make a remark to her, did not even change his face, just simply moved on to the answer. 😊😊😊

This man is intellectually undeafted by every leaders in the world right now.
The most amazing part of this interview was the last words of him saying my main concern is my people’s revenue. He could have said something about his foreign policy, but wisely said his people is his first priority. He deeply understood how his big powerful country got apart in 90’s thanks to foreign policy of US government and all its western allies. So, he really wants his country and power back. Ukraine is just recent example of his battle against them. As an Iranian, I deeply understand since they made almost similar conspiracy and betray against our nation for centuries. To be powerful and independent is not something everyone can tolerate. It costs you a lot and needs political wisdom and national self confidence and loyalty to save your nation

Putin comes out of a meeting and just starts an off the cuff interview, spontaneous, for over 20 mins. No script, long thoughtful answers, with details. If he doesn't want to answer a question directly, he tells the interviewer clearly that he doesn't. Few if any western leaders (certainly not US presidents) can do this. He understands English, which is why he doesn't need the questions translated. He just may be uncertain about his ability to answer complicated questions in English, which is why he needs the translator.

It's easier for him to answer in Russian in order to deliver the RIGHT answer than to search for the right word in English to avoid double meaning. In this situation the interpreter is helpful.
