You gotta give to AJ he has been humble in his losses and never made excuses and always respectful and gives credit where it's do and when it's do.
He said his eye was shut from round 9. That is clearly an excuse.

I have so much respect for AJ..he is a true class act and he shows the uptmost respect to his opponents and is very humble each fight is a learning experience

I think the fact AJ relies so heavily on his corner for advice in a fight is a major flaw. He should trust his own gut and instincts more. He literally keeps looking to his corner like what should I do now, watching himself in between rounds getting hit like he gonna learn something in 10seconds like it’s a technical problem he’s got. In the nicest way possible, just shut up, keep your tongue in your mouth, bite down and fight your heart out

His corner failed him big time here! It’s like they had no plan B. Trying to outbox Usyk was not working and they never made adjustments. I don’t know what they were thinking. AJ should have cane in heavy to impose his size on Usyk the way Fury did to Wilder. Not saying Wilder is anywhere near as good as Usyk, but the size difference should have played a role here to help AJ. He didn’t once impose his size on Usyk 🤦🏻♂️

Nothing his corner could say to be honest, when the smaller fighter takes centre ring and wins the first 3 rounds by simply rotating and taking centre with a back hand whenever your opponent comes in and catching him with each and every shot with nothing wasted, man the only way to beat Usyk is weigh on him and bully him, AJ will never outbox that man.

@@barrybergisch1 I'm sorry buddy, but I disagree. One fight against an absolutely sensational fighter does not make him a bad fighter. He has physical attributes that make him a very successful boxer. But he's not steeped in the sport like others as he hasn't been boxing since being a child. This is why he relies on process and not instinct. He doesn't have enough fights to fight instinctual. Compare his past to GGG, Fury, Canelo etc. These guys are technically excellent, but instinctual too. Wilder is another AJ type boxer. He's even less technical than AJ, and uses that big right. But walk him down and he's screwed.

When your trainer encourages you to box when your fighting against technically one of the smartest boxers in the world, the first thing to do is sack that trainer. Rob McCracken is a joke. We knew that after Ruiz 1. AJ is to loyal to this joke. That should have been a dog fight. Stupid tactics.

@@TimmyTurner421 tactics were pathetic from a supposed elite stable. Chisora showed the blueprint. Usyk is an exceptional boxer and anyone who follows boxing knows that. His pedigree is unmatched from amateur to pro. AJ is not and has never been a boxer.
Gotta agree with the comments.. he's a better boxer so you take him to a brawl.. wheres as Ruiz is better inside brawler so you box him.. I think Tyson can adapt to the situation that's why he's the best.

But he chose to look like a novice for 12 rounds because he wants to prove he is a boxer? He must have known Usyk hit hard enough to hurt him and if he took chances he would get clipped coming in. How long can we keep hearing "he's learning on the job". Big fan of AJ but he was an elite unified world champion. He shouldn't be still learning on the job.... at this rate he'll be fighting an exhibition at 59 year old saying "it was a great lesson"! Very frustrating

They're making him fight now like a middleweight 🙄, he needs a proper heavyweight coach like Fury found across the pond. Lewis also had to look for a new trainer after his loss to take him to the next level.
Usyk has spirit. It seems there is a general lack of that, AJ should go get some of that. Saying the right stuff only takes you so far.

Joshua got caught up in his mind. But he still is the best heavyweight right now. Also Usyk has beginners luck in the division. Joshua has never seen him fight this level, so little adjustments could be made... whereas Usyk was looking to join and built for that, and in the process he would be eying up Joshua and learning... If he really didn't realise he was losing drastically his corner really REALLY failed him. They told him to just keep jabbing and have more sideways movement when he was already several rounds down. Very bad.

Agree with this, all I heard from Rob McCracken was “stay behind the jab josh”. They were like rabbits in head lights, they just didn’t have a clue what to do with Usyks skill, simple as that!
They knew he had lost at the end , their faces said it all before the decision……… I think it was fairly close around round 8 , it was still winnable for aj if he finished the stronger , but usyk took the last 4 rounds straight and put that to bed .
AJ was not playing his game. He was casual. He looked aimless. Now, he got an aim. Now he is motivated to fight for a cause. He will come back as a winner. AJ is a real sportsman, rare to see in boxing.

He was off form because he got schooled by a top top boxer. He's not fighting an old or inexperienced fighter in usyk.
I admire the sportsmanship in AJ especially his frankness at the press after the fight. He showed respect to his partner and was humble to the end. If you have been in a ring yourself if that day is not meant for you even with all the boxing angels at your corner you will lose! Not everyday is honeymoon. Without a loser there is no game! Thumbs up to both AJ and AU. This was a clean game.
Joshua has always been a good sportsman. A good example for youth .

I love how the British love to slate the life out of a fellow Brit when they fall, the man has carried hw boxing as years,held titles longer than 99% of any other British heavyweight,provided us with alot of fantastic and historic nights, puts money into grass roots boxing but has 2 losses now he's washed up,shite and was never good. Although I’m Usyk’s fan, I have to admit that AJ is great sportsman and person. Very hummble, which is rare to see at today’s “superstars”. The second fight will be very interesting, two great warriors and persons!
Simple, fire McCracken and get a proper heavyweight trainer like how Fury got Kronk/Sugar Hill. Heavyweight pro fighting ain't like Olympic fighting 🤷🏽♂️. They've failed him twice now regarding fight strategy, if he loses again it'll be on him, for not making the right decision.

I thought the bell went 8 seconds too early......AJ looked out on his feet but I think in the rematch , Joshua should come in at a heavier weight ,and do heavy shots and holding g on and a bit of rag dolling early on to slow Usyk down a bit and reduce his punching power .I think this would be the best way for AJ to tackle Usyk.

He is not that young. He is a solid boxer and has a good punch. He doesn't use his natural height and reach advantage because he is limited boxer, and keeping on walking into big punches is not the way to win.

Thats a good question. Theres actually a defect that some people have where they purposely dont try their very best as a way to protect ego in the even that their best isnt good enough. Because they dont want to have to live with the reality that their best wasnt good enough. I doubt thats AJ's issue here, but thats still a good question that you posed.
@John Smith Agreed, whilst Usyk has power, he doesn't have that one punch power which can change the whole match so why AJ didn't just unload his power punches more I don't know.... Maybe Usyk just didn't allow to him with all the feints and head movement, his conditioning was just unreal.
First you should always believe you can do better and 2. Joshua came in light for the this fight. If he comes in heavy he will gain power and resilience. One shot is all it takes. and 3. You don't need to be the best, just the best you can be

It's moments such as this that I wish the legendary Emmanuel Steward were alive. I believe he possesed the pedagogical abilities and the vigor to make Joshua into a formidable heavyweight. Joshua has the talents and a modicum of intelligence he just needs a coach to incite that fire.
We've lost that ability to listen and learn from our elders. Society has filled our heads with a bunch of useless crap. Too much focusing on useless things, not what's important. What's right in front of you. He is completely lost. A manufactured champion, I'm not sure what he can do.

Both these fighters. Absolutely fantastic athletes and humble. After the First 3 minutes. He knew it was a tough day at the office. Foot speed and hand speed and aggression. But what a guy.
AJ needs to go back to the drawing board and re-evaluate everything. Styles make fights…. AJ’s style fits perfectly for Usyk and now Usyk knows how he can prove the world wrong in relation to not having power. Second time around if AJ doesn’t get rid of McKraken and continues being robotic, Usyk will have a early night!
Usyk has joshua’s number now , he won’t have to feel him out as much next fight .
Actually the problem with Joshua is the change he made in his style. You’re a puncher, not a boxer. He can’t outbox the boxer (Usyk in this case). He needs to throw these bombs like he did against Klitschko.
@@air2373 Except Uysk will KO him if he does. Look how hurt an rocked AJ was every time he took that approach. No what is crazy impressive is how he has such good power to force Uysk to have to back off an recover. To land shots on Uysk clean is extreemly hard to do an AJ did so.

@@air2373 Look at the first 3 rounds AJ tried Uysk didn't let him just bully him. AJ was using his size and found his rhythm on Uysk later in the fight where he started to tag him. Guess you missed how Uysk was rocking him every time he tried.
