Wonderful video, it's always enjoyable to watch a craftsman do their thing. Thumbs up.
Beautiful work and I love the music. Wonderful editing
Beautiful simplicity. What a talent you have.
I really like how you made this knife. It's a very nice design and execution. Great work!
Nice build! Turned out beautiful.
Thank you for sharing the template, I will try to give my first puukko a go.
Beautiful.....No hassle puukko and i love puukko
I've made about 8 puukko style knives so far, and your tang idea is the best way I've seen to attach one to the scales. What type of bolt and sleeve did you use?
FANTASTIC knife! I believe you used at least two compounds to polish the handle in the end, but when you applied one of them it darkened the wood a lot more, which is how I want my knives to look like as well. could you please tell me what compound you applied? Great idea to use a bolt at the end of the scale btw ;)
Top shelf! Regards from Canada!
Nice work, buddy!
so glad a came across your channel this is bad ass bro. now to binge on watching all of your other builds lol
John Biggs same
Nice looking blade! Enjoyed the video!
I enjoyed the video, great job!
hi I really like the finish on the blade what did you use ?
Wow 😳 that turned out beautiful. Kinda looks like a mora style but way nicer.
roughly how many hours do you think this ended up taking you?
Very impressive,,,,,,keep up the good work!!!
Very nice knife. I found the shape of the blade very pointy, not like a regular puukko, but very nice anyway. Congrats
Damn, man. Another awesome video. I'd still love to understand that jig you use to make the blade, with the hinges and springs.
absolutely amazing
Very nice work. I only wonder: why You decided to make the tang two-part?
Can i found sokewhere project of this knife to print?
Great vid, You got my subscription , Keep 'Em coming
Do you not heat treat your knives?
Very fine piece of work.
True craftsmanship!
true craftsmanship? I'm sorry but all he did was grind a bit of metal into the shape of a knife. the handle was nice I guess but that's the only real craftsmanship in this video. if he forge welded the steel himself and hand pounded it into shape etc that would be true craftsmanship.
The man is a true artisan and well worthy of his hire.
Absolutely agreed. I bet that is an outstanding blade.
Qual o aço da chapa, é um 1020? Bom vídeo, obrigado
Dude you should have an online shop!
Good job !
very nice, what is the blade steel
new subscriber, enjoyed your vid greatly. nice hand built tools
Great blade design and build. One of the best on the internet. Great job & thumbs up!
Great tutorial, thank you
very skillful!! btw what kind of glue was that?
That's epoxy glue
You earned my subscription
It's nice, I like the dark color and style. May I know the chemical you are using? I'm beginning to make knife making a hobby.
Edgar Romero I think it's ferric chloride.
замечательный работяга.
Nice knife, what did you use on the wood to darken it?
Would love to know that too.
Wood stain
what type of drill bits do you use to drill brass
temperd steel ??
Wow! A KZhead video without rap music! Nice Knife!
Beautiful
B-e-a-utiful !
A thing of beauty. 😍
I think that hacksaw blade is a little dull =P Awesome knife!
love that jig made from a door hinge going to borrow that idea
just make sure to give it back relatively soon ;)
what acid do you use and how long it took to make steel goes black?
ferric chloride
buen trabajo
Beautiful knife. How did you color the blade?
Ferric chloride probably
nice knife , me ask u sir what type of oil u put in handle and i see some video a guy said for handle of wood that engine oil is good is that right ? and do we should leave in a jar of oil overnight or just Wipe it out ? and thx for video
Mossine Gago I normally like to use used motor oil for my handles. It'll give it a rugged look. Leave in in for a night or so. Good luck!
ah ok , thank u for the informations i will try it, thank u agin for reply and good luck in new projects :)
nice grinder skillz. Some absolutely legit skills on display here!
Neill Wylie Hense your pic
Perfect! But whit did you do at the end with the handle? how you made it dark?
It's Fucking oil
It's Good resistant
Realy? Only oil!!!
He put a dark brown stain on the wood, and then finished it with tung oil.
Can you please tell me the thickness of this steel? N how long did you cut this using angle grinder?
thickness of the blade is 3.2mm. I carved it from steel blanc for about 5 min I guess...
oh, I see that! really thanks for reply! :)
Really beautiful. Probably amongst the most beautiful knives on YT. I was wondering if that template you used is you own creation or it is publicly available. If so where ?
Check out the description, I added template there
Thanks mate. I was also wondering what wood did you use for handle and what did you use to finish it because to color came out beautiful.
I used some mordant and tung oil to finish. Handle is from ash tree
Awesome! I want to buy it!
I really enjoyed the hardening and tempering portion of this build!?!
I really enjoy reading comments from people like you showing how ignorant you are. Don’t forget to use your drool bib. 😉
NW Prepper, how is it ignorant to point out that he completely skipped showing any heat treating process. *You* are the one who comes of ignorant here dude.
Jonathon Atkinson he doesn’t seem to do that to any of his letter openers
nice work, but I didn't see you heat treating it ???
TheSteelWolf put my mixtape on it
Question, is your ferric chloride acid diluted and how long did you keep it in there?
It's ferric chloride water solution. I put blade into it for about 2 min.
Cool. Just about to use my first batch of ferric chloride, so I'm just looking around for examples on how to use it properly. This looks like a nice, etch. How much water to acid did you use?
Very Cool! I bought straight Liquid Ferric Chloride to try and I have no idea how long to soak a blade. I'll start with 2 minutes and see what happens. Is there a danger to soaking it to long?

Рукастый парнишка и инструмент нормальный! !!!
What a great job, talent is a rare thing in today's world!
Good one
What oils/finishes did you use to finish the handle?
Cooking oil
tung oil
Shanqz Cooking oil Spoils and stinks
Is there only glue that holds your tang in the handle? It will break away really easily...
You clearly do not know much about knife making. Did you not see him add chewing gum after applying the glue, at 8 minutes 33 seconds?
Perkele
But pretty good knife making none the less.
the color of knife and handle have good contrast
nice job!!!!But why dont you buy anealed steel and harden, teperit by yourself?????
It's easier to buy steel that had already been tempered to the hardness you want, than it is to achieve proper hardness by heat treating yourself. Unless you already have a temperature controlled heat treating furnace. You just need to be careful to not damage the heat treat when grinding the blade to shape. (notice how he applied water to the blade portion while he was cutting it out with the angle grinder...the tang doesn't need to be hard, so he didn't bother cooling it.)
Sweet
What oil did u use?
Most knife makers will used boiled Linseed oil
How many work hours?
Hint: Don't make the angles b/w the blade and the tang 90 degrees. While this greatly simplifies fitting the brass guard, it also creates a weak point, from which the blade will break off the tang/handle when lateral force is applied. Also, if you want a really tight fit, you have to hammer the guard into place with a semi-flattened metal pipe (or sth.). If the guard slides freely all the way, the fit is not tight.
Why did you make the tang narrow?
because Finnish puukko knives often have narrow tangs
What is the liquid in the bottle that you soak the blade and what for?
Varnish for water proofing. Otherwise the wood would rot when you wash it.
I think its some type of acid (ive seen people use vinegar) used to give the blade a patina coating (blacken the blade).
Whoops misread blade for handle because that was the last soaking I saw. It's a cold blue solution to prevent the blade from rusting, but mostly because black blades are cool. Probably.
It is ferric chloride, diluted with water.
No heat treat?
What steel?
I know there is a reason you grind the blade slowly, but what is it?
If the metal is already hardened, you don't want to heat it up too much or you'll lose your hardened edge
how do you turn a knife into a black metalic color?
Ferric Chloride. You can pick some up on amazon, works for etching metals too.
using iron perchloride+ Chloride got it.. thankjs.
cool...
Did you ever heat treat or harden the blade?
Andrew Fritz by the way he heated the tang before drilling and his effort to keep the angle grinder cuts cool I think the material is pre hardened
oh ok Thanks!
it isn't even forged.... anyways to answer your question its a pre heated steel
that doesn't mean anything, he just took a random strip of steel and turned it into a knife, when you buy steel from a steel place its not hardened
yah XD I was watching forged in fire a couple days ago and one guy did that and was eliminate immediately, he said he was playing it "safe".
Did I miss the heat treat on this one?
ThePatientArtisan snap
He softened the end of the tang up with the torch before drilling, so we can assume it was hard. Also, this is made from D2, which is an air hardening tool steel.
Hi Koss! What a fine job! Can you upload the template of the puukko knife, please? Thanks!
What's the music in the background called
I like the music, seems to be the counter culture
Alec steel uses the same song in a lot of his forging videos
Template?
in 6:48 is it oil? or what it is¿
It's acid
What acid used
Desmond Yao probably ferric chloride
Хороший Пукко получился. Только вопрос, какой материал использован на клинок?
wow
same music alex steele uses. dont know what it is though
mauimudpup Probably some no-copyright music.
mauimudpup Darude-Sandstorm
nope thats not it. 2nd song in. Old Alex doesn't list the song but its from a almost free music site epidemic soundtrack
sounds better than most free stuff so I was surprised. Its just from an almost free place
sweet
That pretty cool :-)
Маланика пууко?
Like the music sound
nice
why is the blade different at 2:58 than on 12:20. It seems you skipped showing us a step
Issa knife
that was hella cool
dem angle grinder skills
