I'll never understand why Asus makes everything so much more expensive than other brands, it's like the Apple of the PC components.
because people buy it anyways.
if u cannot afford it, then dont buy it. the matrix lineup is for the most extreme overclockers and enthusiast. not for ur average budget fartnut kid
Its like the old days in hifi. Every manufacturer who was serious had 1 series where he showed his masterpiece. Like Accuphase, Krell, Threshold etc. Its reference. If money is no object, buy it. Whether it helps in the end is sometimes not that important.
If the pump fails, its going to be a headache.
At this price you can buy a full custom loop for your whole system + a regular 4090 and get better performance
No you cant. This boosts so much higher than regular models that it gets nearly an extra 10% performance over them. The 4090's aren't remotely thermally limited, watercooling will do almost nothing more for performance than close the gap by like 1%
@@Frozoken Bro do you even own a 4090? actually it sounds like you do, you must own this card based on your responds. Sounds like confirmation bias and cope. I assume you own the card, so it seems that you are not aware that you can BIOS flash any 4090 (except the Nvidia founders edition card) to increase the power limit to 600W to 1000W. This card only has a max power limit of 600W which is not unique to this card. This 4090 is for people just like you who believe they can only get an extra 10% from this card. Asus made this GPU fpr special people like you. You are their product market fit, well done sir. Don't get me wrong I don't like second best either, but there is a level of retar d I will not go. Also this card uses liquid metal while the water cold plate is copper...... Like I said I will only go so far when it comes to low IQ moves...
@@gamedaytoday1 The matrix is a much better bin it's a physical hardware advantage. Also I know how bios flashing works and i do not own a 4090 either 💀
At that price, I’d rather save the money to buy the 5090 when it launches.
As a Blender and 4090 user I've tried many OC settings and this is what works for me to get extra performance! Use the voltage frequency curve monitor and MSI and move it upwards around +150 or higher if your GPU is stable, limit the TDP to any wattage you consider reasonable (in my case I have it at 67% around 300W as Blender less energy won't be affected) Also good to overclock the memory even if it's just 250MHz, all that will help make the card faster than stock while consuming pretty much the same and keeping it safe in case you want to do also gaming on your spare time! :) For reference I have exactly +150 on the curve editor and +250MHz on the vram, 67% power limit, I get 11639 points on Blender Open Data 4.0, about 4% more than my GPU on stock settings, of course you can get way more with more aggressive settings, but I'm running on the really safe side of things because in the end I work with this computer, same reason why I limit my 4090 to 300W because I don't trust the infamous 16 pin connector.
Saving this when the 5090 arrives.
You're a genius. 4080s dont melt because they dont go over 300 watts. I hope your 4090 serves you well for your rendering shenanigans :)
@@TheUltraMinebox Thank you! To be honest I doubt anyone will burn a 4090 rendering with Blender, and even if it's used only for gaming the chance still low. I just want to try to zero it so I can sleep in peace while rendering at night!
You can do wayyyy more on the ram lmao. Ram on the 4090 can almost always do +1500mhz to tell you how totally uncomparable it is to the core clock offset (increase). Do +1000mhz and it'll be very conservative and 1000% work, doubly so on the better binned 4090 matrix. Genuinely not to be patronising but I know the big number is scary as I had the same feeling when comparing to core clocks but it's like apples to orange. +1500mhz on the core is like 70% higher frequency, on the memory it's not even 15%
A better test would be it against 2x FE 4090s since the price at MSRP is about the same. They sell on Amazon for more than the 3 4090s I use for content creation so pointless to me.
yes its for people that have to much money i guess i see no reason for this to exist. U could buy 2 cheap 4090s and put a cheap custom loop onto them and get twice the performance in some rendering softwares.
Hey boss, I really liked this video. Especially when you caught the reflection of your overhead softbox light. What brand of lighting do you use? Great video, thank you.
Does it still only has a copper contact plate for the cooler? The card that der 8auer took apart, used bare copper and was not nickel platet, which is not good when used with Liquid metal. atleast not in the long run. i personally would rather buy a cheaper model and put a cheap custom loop onto it. Only thing i like here, is the look of the card.
@theTechNotice I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP. I'm building a pc and I can't decide about cpu. What would you suggest for video editing (davinci) i7 14700k or ryzen 9 7950x ? I'm planning to use rtx 4080 super. Your answer would be appreciated :)
that u can Buy; there is one which is more expensive than this, but that one is special; its the Galax / KFA2 HOF 4090 card with two 12VHPWR
And just in after a couple of months, it will be dethroned by its successor.
Like the 6090 with the 5090, the 7090/6090... The circle of life
Please is the intel Arc GPUs on laptops good for video editing especially with the Lastest DaVinci resolve..? Someone please..
they're ok, but not as good as Nvidia!
Lauri how was the noise of the card in Performance mode? I have a Corsair Link H170I set to 600rpm and it is dead silent but the 4090 is audible once it gets going.
I have this GPU, but exchanged the stock fans for 3 Silent Wings Pro 4 from be quiet!. Has been absolutely dead silent no matter what I throw at it, other than benchmarks. Using the fan control (yes, that is the name) software to control my fans with fully custom curves n stuff. I have not had any noticable coil whine with this card either, unlike my other 4090 Strix LC. My 4090 Gaming OC from Gigabyte also doesnt have any though, so you may just end up either lucky or unlucky. This card runs cold and as such you wont have to run your fans very fast
@@Kyole4255 Very interesting mate , I have the MSI SUPRIMX 4090 with a custom curve that I guess is a bit too aggressive keeping the core always at 55-60° on 4K Ultra RT so I guess I can try to lower the RPM.
@@giorgosapo4508 If you're fine with your room getting a bit warmer faster, keep it close to the max temp rating possible without it loosing any clock speeds^^
in the end, the Matrix is good or not?
I'd dual slot the 4080 super for a rendering stream. Since people would rather watch fast moving lines that they'll only notice gaming/warching gains after 30minutes to an hour. What's the point of monetizing your outputs if it'll get copied or misinformation tactics that kill of that industry.
What's the point of making a water cooled graphics card if it is almost as big as the air cooled version?
bigger I'd say :)
@@theTechNotice Then it is a waste of money, since people that want more performance will end up buying the RTX 6000 Ada, which is not only faster, but has twice the VRAM.
Um performance? I didn't realize the purpose of WC was to make your card smaller.
@@BrunodeSouzaLino rtx 6000 is slower in certain workloads
@@BrunodeSouzaLino 4090 has 24 GB VRAM which is more than enough for the next 10 years
Hey folks but what I winder is. Let's say something in the water cooling loops breaks. So is the whole card F? Cause what would you do then? With air ones you could replace a fan but how could you replace something in the water cooling system?
erm... kinda yeah :)
@@theTechNotice hahaha. Dang,
Beautiful design but a workstation for creators must be cooled only with air and proper silent fans. AIO coolers for cpu and gpus aren't reliable in the long run.
how bout chucking the rog rad and adding custom water loop to that matrix ? many people are doing that
I guess that's his idea that he mentioned in the end of the video 😁
That should void the warranty, right?
Naw….That’s price of two RTX 5090 😅
Why the main block is huge while it is water cooled. If i want to use water cooled gpu, it should be small to increase airflow in the case. Nonsense
prob bc theres a pump inside of it
@@Moodyfn i dont think so. None of the pumps are big like that.
Anyone else feeling desperate to see the pro workstation cards from AMD and NVIDIA included in these reviews and rankings? They're tuned and built a bit different and go for multiples of cash more than the 4090. I'm dying to see how they perform under Tech Notice's testing methods and to understand their value proposition in the creator arena. Thoughts?
I second this!
😮 Thank you Lauri.
I would have gotten one but I wanted a 4090 stat! So I got the MSI Suprim LC OC instead. Im happy.

575 watts under load holy damn!
All theory is gray. Especially when there is a €500 display at the other end. Or what other purpose does a graphics card have? A comedian in Germany describes it like this: As helpful as a knife without a blade that also lacks a handle!
you can cover a 4090 in gold , in dirt ,with leaves , in liquid cooling or fans its still a 4090
I would have liked you compare fps in cyberpunk 2077 😂
Is it worth it? No idea, he never gave us baseline pricing to compare.
It's 7k AUD and hard to get anyways
If money was jnot an issue I'd buy one. I can certainly see the appeal.
Almost $5K to buy, hell no!
BEAUTIFUL..AWESOME
Does the connector melt on this
If asus sells only the GPU without rads I would buy it
$3000 champ with shit 12pin power plug. No thanks, only with superior 8pins!
OK, now what's the most inexpensive RTX 4090 I can buy? I'm expect maybe a blower model for $1199
$1199 for a 4090? this has to be a joke lmao
@@rando3962 but its a blower model. Do you not remember how the RTX 2080 Ti was priced at $1199 but there was a generic brand that sold a blower version of it for $999?
@@vh9network well for one the msrp of the card is 1599. That is a 35% discount. Besides, a blower could never cool the 4090. The 4090 pulls double the amount of power that a 2080 ti does.
@@vh9network id like to mention that asus already sells a discounted 4090 using a 3090 cooler. Barely discounted though
remember having the old 2080 ti matrix platinum. it had a slight boost 50 mhz over a strix and same temps and acoustics. not worth it imo. but looks sleek
This is a perfect time example of just because Asus could, doesn’t mean they should. The previous Poseidon design is arguably a better initiative than this overpriced unmaintainable item. Just do a custom loop.
All that money and you STILL don't get a fully enabled AD102 GPU.
Well, how much does it cost,,😁👍

all of it
Asus motherboard, asus gpu, asus monitor, i just wished i had the ROG motherboard😢
And, of course, it’s an ASUS! 😅
I can?
there is no point in buying graphics cards in 5 months the rtx 5070 will have almost the same power as the rtx 4090 with 20% difference and 2 to 3 times cheaper
I hope so.. :)
That is no longer the case sadly. According to the rumor mill the 5080 with the GB203 die will use 96 SMs (4090 Has 128 SM) In raw teraflop output, the 5080 would need to run at 3 GHz and above to reach and maybe break the 70 teraflop mark, the 4090 produces 80 teraflops. The 5070 would be around 4080 levels of performance if the rumors prove to be true a year from now.
575WTF!
better to wait 5090
meh, paper launch
You didn't even test gaming bruh
Yep, that's right, I don't do gaming:)
Bro this isn’t a gaming focused channel, go watch J2C or the other dedicated gpu/gaming Channels.
"It's expensive because fuck you we know you want it" -Asus marketing, probably In reality, the true reason behind this card's existence, is simply for brand promotion purposes. Not because they expect to make a profit on these or that people will find them to be amazing, but simply as a statement for "Asus makes the best cards you can buy. You know we are competent enough to make the absolute best, so you feel a greater sense of that competence even for our lower ranking cards because they, too, are still made by the same people who make the Matrix".
Probably true... :)
A very expensive card with a cheap power connector that melts thx Nvidia.😴
What a waist, save your money. GUYS RTX 5090 5080 is going to release soon. This is just a gimmick advertisement!!
Most people can't afford this 4090 or will be able to afford the 5080 or the 5090.
