Swans are the largest living water fowl. They are often easy to spot among other water-loving birds as swans are typically quite bigger than these other birds. Swans also generally appear all white in color when compared to the mottled markings in many other waterfowl species (though swans do come in black and black and white!). There are six living species of swans and they are found throughout most of the world.

  • “Swans tend to be monogamous throughout their lifetimes. However, this isn’t always the case.” Sounds very similar to humans.

    • Fun fact, here in Chile we have a species of swan, if the female dies the male sometimes commits suicide by flying in the air and then crashing down Yep, thats kinda sad

  • My city has a resident population of trumpeter swans. They’re gorgeous but territorial as hell, they sometimes chase people, and they sometimes pick on smaller birds like ducks.

    • If I were a swan, I'd probably chase people, to be fair.

  • There is a common myth that swans are strong enough to break human arms. This isn't true because their hollow bones are quite a bit weaker than ours, but they are extremely powerful for their weight. They are some proper dinosaurs for sure
