Omar Hajaj asks Khabib Nurmagomedov: "Did you leave UFC because it could be haram?!"

I love Khabib for the sake of Allah as a person and his character. I respect his pride in his Islamic identity and I hope to see many young people grow up to have similar qualities of being strong and proud of their deen regardless of what position they have in society. I was one of the few people that did not watch the McGregor VS Khabib fight because I was doubtful that it was permissible, I was surprised that many people didn't see it as an issue including some duaats and close friends and I am glad that I finally had the chance to ask Khabib himself directly. His answer was amazing and made me love and respect him more mashallah tabarakallah.

  • I remember this man kneeling to drink water in front of the world when there was no seat available. I remember this man thanking Allah(swt) every time for giving him everything and also pointing to the sky and saying don't praise me praise Allah(swt) he give me everything alhamdulillah. This man is a great Muslim warrior and we need more like him.

    • @Karim Azz You are missing the point. No religious edict exists in the Christian faith, the Hindu faith, the Buddhist faith that rejects the idea of striking someone in the face for sport. Islam alone has a specific edict and accompanying fatwas prohibiting this. The question by the Muslim brother was legitimate, and he was asking another Muslim, how he felt about the permissibility or prohibition of hitting someone in the face, according to the shariah.

The Quran Clearly states "Wrongdoers are clear in error".So combat sports has a makruh status... This is what I understand from what I studied. I am not doing a fatwa that it is like this or that. Its a shame I can't say that about other Muslims. Which they ones I've come across are very judgemental and outcast people who are 'non believers' or from different religions. Why create a divide between humans? Isn't that wrong in it self under God? Why be so judgemental and even that pressure and convince youths of different religions to convert. Muslims say paradise starts at the feet of your parents. Why would you make a child who's non Muslim disrespect their parents by having them convert? When the parents have raised their child to be of another religion. It just dosent make sense. However I've followed Khabib. This man is a true inspiration. True man. A true good kind hearted Human. That's kinda embarrass him to everyone. Imam As-Syafi'i said The one who admonishes his brother secretly, he has advised sincerely and has honored him. If he does it outwardly (among others) then he has dishonored and shamed him. Where is the akhlaq? Do it secretly.

I hope you're not assuming only Pakistani's celebrate Mawlid, because there are huge Mawlid gatherings which take place all over the world, including the Arab Peninsula and other parts of the world, so it's certainly not something only people from the Indian Subcontinent do. If praising the best of the creation and thanking Allah Almighty for sending the best of creation to us (which is what Mawlid is) is a problem for you then you have bigger issues. I don't need to categorically prove that Khabib celebrates Mawlid, him doing it or not isn't evidence for or against it. But one thing I know for a fact is that he is a Sunni/Sufi. The scholars of Dagestan are Sufi scholars and Sufis celebrate Mawlid. Many practices which Pseudo-Salafi's disagree with, Khabib would be doing and you're probably thinking 'What's the evidence?', well the simple fact that he follows the Sufi way, Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamma'ah is enough evidence in itself. It would be shocking if anyone thinks Khabib is a Pseudo-Salafi, that's just criminal if someone suggested that (not saying you are). Pseudo-Salafi's appropriate figures like Khabib when it suits them, ignoring his beliefs (which they would disagree with).

  • The context, "When one of you fights, avoid hitting the face", you're not supposed to be fighting in the first place. Reading into the context of the hadith it's more to do with safety, like many people have died from a single punch to the face. It's not supposed to be a ruling on combat sports. etc. Imagine a muslim country training it's military without sparring; ineffective and lacking. People think they're smart quoting hadiths out of context while also being low on brain cells.

But ofc, for normal folks when it comes to self defence training in combat sports is the best defence you can have. So by extension, u kinda have to train getting punched in the face or delivering the punch as well...otherwise u won't learn. But even in training, u can wear headgear or spar lightly in order to reduce damage. That's the key idea...as long as one can preserve the sanity of the face. You good! Also the Hadith isn't at all about safety mate, when it's about the nobility and the purity of the face. No matter who it is. Ofc when it comes to life or death, then that's a different case. Cuz if you consider the Hadith, where prophet (pbuh) forbade ppl from stoning the face of the women who was sentenced to death. • I like what Khabib is doing, and I am a Muslim, but I do not agree with you. This is a noble sport. Yes, it is unfortunate. Training in combat has existed since the creation of man. It is present in all religions, Islam and wars in history. The Prophet was a warrior, and I see that the impact on children is sports. Something positive is better than going to other trivial things and disagreeing with the person who raised the question is illogical

  • Back in the day, sports that were considered manly such as horse and camel riding. Archery swimming where encouraged. I don't see this being any different as the fighters who compete in the UFC are 1- well trained and prepared 2- if a fighter loses too many fights in a row they get cut to save them from future damage. As u saw a BKFC fighter died because he's been koed 9 fights in a row

Or are you a tenant you pays rent for a property owned by a landlord who has a mortgage which he then pays interest on. Silly questions about what is and isn’t haram. Almost every interaction everyone has in life in the western world will have an element of haram to it. Lay of Khabib the man is an inspiration and conducts himself impeccably. I could go on but I see there may not be a point.

    • You have a point. Indeed, he should have asked him that privately. Combat sports such as UFC, MMA, boxing in which opponents physically injure each other is un-Islamic, there is no doubt about it. Other combat sports in which the opponents are not injured, such as wrestling, arm wrestling, and combat sports are allowed. The only thing worse compared with all these combat sports where opponents injure each other is when the intention is to kill each other! This is a logical explanation and not difficult to understand. Peace be with you
