We got to drive BMW and TYDE's brand-new futuristic flying yacht 'The Icon'! It's one of the most futuristic boats ever made with an interior that's taken straight from a VIP lounge.
Best of all, it can literally fly above the water when it reaches 18 knots! It even features sound design from legendary composer Hans Zimmer, to go with the extremely smooth ride as you fly across the sea.
It's the definition of a luxury watercraft and we had a lot of fun taking it for a spin!

    • That's not efficient only 60 miles for one charge. That's like me towing 5 thousand pounds with a new Ford F-150 Lightning. Has incredible abilities but no endurance what so ever.

  • I actually think this is a great concept. Good for someone who maybe doesn't want a full on yacht with cabins and staterooms but wants something they can spend a day on the water in. It desperately needs a small bathroom and a minimal kitchenette though.

  • All this amazing Technology! Makes this retired 65 year-old Mechanical Engineer grin from ear to ear. Too bad I can't afford one... Many years ago I built a R/C hydrofoil. Everything was fixed in place and it actually worked if you kept the speed "just right". 😁

  • I remember as a kid my grandmother paying for her three grandchildren to visit her in Belgium for the Holidays; St Katherine's Dock Pier return to Zeebrugge by a Boeing Jetfoil, back in '77-78. Travelling down the Thames, picking up speed once in the estuary and across the Channel. Fantastic experience. Jetfoil, Hydrofoil and now E-Foil - Looking forward to this technology becoming more widely available. It really is an exhilarating way to travel.

  • VERY cool, but it doesn't look like there's any kind of galley for lunching/munching on your outing, or even restrooms (that I could see), so not sure how practical it would be, but future possibilities are endless I suppose. Curious about the price too, lol.

  • Perfect for cruising inland waters such as the Miami River, Florida canals, and New York Bay. However, it seems unsuitable for passing through Haulover inlet or cruising on the open ocean.

    • A simple circuit breaker would be alot easier to engineer than the lighting. EV's are already way ahead. My concern is the need for a generator when emergency power is needed to get back home.

  • That craft is a nautical, architectural & technological work of fine art. It's utterly gorgeous! Seeing as how this craft is an EV, I wonder if wrap manufacturing companies have figured out how to make entire wraps that are actually solar panels? This way, the entire surface area of the craft itself would be the recharging system, which could provide for an amazing daytime operation capability. Great video, about an amazing machine!

  • My dad has been driving everything from 30ft cigarette boats to 60ft yachts for as long as i can remember. He would tell you this takes everything away from actually driving a boat. The point us to be in the sunshine and have a cabin when you want it. This is a floating living room. The more tech you put in these things , the more that ends up going wrong. Especially in salt water i wouldn't want everything to be electric. Maybe that's just me. When it comes to electric cars and so on we are putting the cart before the horse. The grid would collapse if everyone went electric, California is a great example of this. Rolling brown outs before electric cars were even on the roads.
