Good review mate. Only thing you missed was the MS use a proprietary wireless communication protocol to connect Xbox controllers and headphones. Bluetooth is added for phones, tablets and laptops. 👍

Thanks for the tip regarding installing the Dolby App to get the "Xbox Headset" working great. They become available in a couple of weeks where I am and I have been considering getting the dolby app anyway because I suddenly have a lot of 4K HDR movies with Dolby Atmos audio that would benefit from the audio upgrade.

I haven’t seen it mentioned that the Dolby Atmos for headphones purchase links to your Microsoft Account, which means you can use it on your Windows PC as well! As long as it uses the same Microsoft account! In fact if you have another Xbox you can use it there as well! So as a £14 one off purchase, it’s pretty good. I use Dolby Atmos for headphones when playing Overwatch on PC and didn’t need to re-purchase for the Xbox as it’s linked to my account.

I know this is a year old video but thanks. I had the 9x and they crackled every 5 seconds. I have the Corsair wireless Xbox headset now and it crackles from time to time. These just came today so I’ll change them and hopefully get the same results you guys got.

Great review covering a little of everything. I been liking these headphones. Especially how it connects to my phone and my xbox at the same time. Can even answer a phone call and keep playing with it. My main issue is I been having random disconnect and reconnecting issues while I'm playing. I cant seem to figure out what exactly the problem is. I notice it happens with my controller at the same time too but not without the headset. Its been frustrating. Having trouble figuring out what the exact cause is. It might be something with my xbox since my controller is having trouble too. Tried going wired and my controller+headset started breaking up too.
I know I'm like a year late here, but to add a few things: If you have a long enough USB C cable, you can indeed use it wired on a PC without the need for bluetooth (which uses the worse codec possible). Alternatively, you can use the Xbox Wireless adapter for PC as well to achieve the same quality as wired. Also, you can have both your Xbox Audio and bluetooth audio working at the same time, which is pretty cool.

the sound quality out of the box wasn't bad at all. but yeah of course if you want to have better sound, adjust the settings. also when it comes to the tightness on the head, most new headphones do that, that is not a deal breaker, as that tightness goes away at some point of usage. i've noticed people always mention that, now granted some headphones may not be uncomfortable out the box, but again, as time goes by that goes away.

Nice review, my Xbox headset is in the post. Atmos is a huge improvement over the default spatial audio (still impressive & has been for years) and I’d say for under £15 it’s definitely worth it (it’s always on sale every few months)

@Christopher P Dolby Atoms via the headset and supported TVs/Soundbars also if you have a compatible display you’ll get Dolby Vision from those streaming services that use either Dolby products
@Christopher P with the Dolby App you’ll get Atmos audio from supported streaming service, 4KUHD disks and games
@Christopher P you’ll need the Dolby App…. That’s basically doing all the work while the headset (wired or wireless) is delivering that to your ears. I believe the App has a free trial so you can even test it out on your existing headset. There are a dozen or so trailers (movies/gaming) to demonstrate Atmos

1st of all thank you for giving a proper review of the Xbox Headset themed for SeriesX, with an actual mic test and everything. Since I chose PS5 for this gen, I have the others and there's alot left to be desired. While I like the auto sound adjustment for any newer generation sound source thanks to the new Tempest Engine they've developed, it doesn't excuse the convenience features that PULSE 3D lacks due to being tied to a dongle and while there's the 3.5mm if you do want it for phone or mp3 player, let's be honest they're wireless and you want to use the wireless feature. While it does sound like the headsets actual cost $121 after tax with needing to get Dolby access (which is what I'd do if I had them to be a completionist) to get full power, without a doubt they over Playstation's since convenience is on point. what's your thoughts on wear and tear for the dials? that are easily accessible but are an opportunity for hardware failure through "regular" use. I know regular is all relative depending on the person.

The dials are really cool, they've obviously put a lot of thought in to that. Nice and easy to adjust levels instead of trying to find a little dial. Is Dolby Atmos a pay once thing or is it another subscription to worry about?
Fortunately it's a pay once, then you own the app.
Agreed, they are on the tight side, the side of my head near my ears did hurt after about 3hrs, I wear glasses too and have an average head size. They can stretched by leaving them overnight held apart at where the headband joins the ear cups (not by using the ear cups over a box as this will just crush the foam) about 10” over a couple of nights should help.

I’ve always had $10 to $20 headphones I bought these a few days ago, it is SO much better, I can’t believe how nice these things are, also they connect to my phone which is super helpful for when my AirPod pros die, but man these are amazing to me, and they sound epic!

Having both these and the pulse 3d for the ps5. I like the xbox ones more for 2 reason: 1. No dongle 2. Connection to 2 devices at once. Being in a group discord call while listening to gameplay. With the ps5 I'm having to use my earbuds and the pulses, quite uncomfortable.

My very short review: It's a good headset for gaming. The features are awesome, the sound quality is okay (it's not an audiophile headset). Out of the box audio was awful, but after EQ settings it sounds pretty good. My only problem with the headset is the headband, it's very tight. Overall 7,5/10 "XBOX HEADSET" edit: I wrote my "review" before watching the video, but after watching the video I realized I wrote down the same thing as you said in the video. And I will try Dolby Access. edit: for better sound quality just use "uncompressed stereo", sounds much better, than any virtual surround option.

I bought them already because of the overwhelming positive reviews and price point and rarity as well actually. I snagged a pair today since I saw them in stock online and honestly I don't play for more than 3 hours at a time because I'm grossly busy all the time. This headset seems like a winner. PS. I've had Dolby Atmos for years, ever since they launched it on the Xbox One haha.

@@nekrositoh They're fantastic and as an audio nerd these, with their features, cannot be beat at a $99 price point. The complaints people have about these being bass heavy is true, but they're out of pocket saying that it makes footsteps muddy or you can't tell where people are. I can tell where people are with these and even while bass heavy, makes listening to music with them pleasant too. Although I only listen to music on them while playing games. I wouldn't ever use these JUST for music because I have $500 sets for that.

The Xbox mic was better than the astro, especially with the NC. It's superior to the Pulse on every level, for the same price. I've used the headset for 8 hours continuously, and thought comfort wise better than most no issues whatsoever.
Only things you could count as better for the 3D Pulse is sound because of the 3D surround sound and the options

Great review my main worry with an xbox headset is that it picks up background noise such as controller inputs. I've read that this mic is quite sensitive. Did you find that?

A cool fact I found out is that if u connect the head set to ur phone and Xbox u can watch or listen to KZhead while hearing the game and the left dial determines which u want to hear more which obv was covered in the video but I didn’t know it would work for other stuff too
Great video! Just one thing: The Headset connects to the Xbox through Xbox Wifi - which is faster and reliable. Then it connects through Bluetooth with other devices.

The simultaneous Bluetooth connection is awesome at this price point. Another big plus for me was no dongle (why does the 7x even come with a USB C adapter?). They should have included a Dolby Atmos license though. I already owned the license and they do sound really bad without it enabled.
